That was no baby. It WAS a 52 year old Karen. Complaining that her seat didn't recline enough, that the person in front reclined too much, that the meal was too slow, that the weather wasn't good enough and that she wanted to talk to the captain RIGHT NOW.

    • @danielkim7841

I agree that the blood curdling, ear piercing, eardrum damaging screams of the baby added a certain vintage charm to that charming vintage aircraft design....it all works together like a piece of a puzzle!

What perfects the retro style is that they decided to paint it on the 737. The cockpit design closely resembles that of a classic Boeing 707 making it look more nostalgic.

it is an extremely efficient software program developed by the Australian CIA in conjunction with the UK's Scotland Yard that somehow is able to, with great tact and sophistication, distribute a screaming baby to each airplane... it's a marvel of modern technology!

When I was there in 2009, I had a 3-hour flight from Brisbane to Cairns (within the same state, of Queensland) and a coach tour a few days later from Alice Springs to Uluru (aka Ayer's Rock) in Northern Territory. They might look relatively close on a map but it took more than 6 hours to get there! 😮

A great video. I live in Perth and have flown this sector many, many times in both directions, not only with QF but also with VA and, back in the good old days, Ansett Airlines (RIP). The video portrays the experience very well. It's always more comfortable in a wide body, and in the past they've included 767s and 747s. Even now, QF operates a lot of these flights with 332s. But the 738s are also okay. QF has slightly better catering than VA, but VA is consistently less expensive and otherwise very similar. And the daylight flights with minimal cloud cover are very scenic, as your video demonstrates. I can also highly recommend the ground-level trip by car or train, BTW.

I went to Alice Springs a while ago on a Qantas 737-800. Didn't have the retro livery though. The In-flight Wifi was so janky...

It can either be really good, or really bad. On my flight to Sydney in late Feb, wifi worked a treat. On my way back, I tried watching the NRL using the wifi, and it glitched out a few times. The flight back home to Brisbane was more packed than the flight down (dunno why, Brisbane's a dump of a place lmao) so I suppose the more people using it, the more issues it'll have.

How much was the uber to the airport? And where did you take
it from? And ofc lovely trip report, the lack of voice in these videos makes me feel like I’m on the trip too

    Nice video. 👍
I have to say I found the screaming child quite triggering … I was on a long distance train last week near an overtired child who had an equally piercing scream … I figured the child must fall asleep sooner or later so didn’t change seats. I was wrong. 😝🤦‍♂️

Ah! The mandatory screamer, who could fly without one! Juast knew it was coming along with us as you walked to the departure gate. LOL!
Kudos for the parent/s not committing infanticide!
Honestly, I prefer the modern setup, not retro!
    Good info though.
