Ubisoft recently revealed Assassin's Creed Shadows formally known as AC Red. It will star a Japanese shinobi named Naoe and an African Samurai named Yasuke. Ubisoft's choice to make Yasuke a playable samurai has lead to a lot of controversy. Some peoples reaction to Assassin's Creed Shadows trailer is the game went woke.
The scholars who scream "Sweet Baby Inc Detected" claim they aren't racist. They're upset at the reveal because AC Shadows isn't historically accurate. The Black Hokage agrees (sarcasm), so he put together a video showcasing the top 10 most historically accurate moments in Assassin's Creed to showcase just how much this series has fallen from grace.

Why until now to feature a real person in an AC main protagonist? This is an excuse to justify a non Asian male protagonist. Theyve already made two AC games featuring blacks as main. One is black woman and the other is a black man. They made a AC game set in China and the main is a female Asian. Now another AC set in an Asian country and the main is female Asian again and a African man again? They hate Asian men. Where is the representation? As an Asian myself, I am done with Ubisoft. I may sort of have a hot speculative take here, but one reason why they may have tried to make a black samurai and female shinobi playable instead of a male Japanese could be because there'd be inevitable comparisons to a myriad other games that take place in a historical Japanese setting from Ghosts of Tsushima to Nioh all the way to NInja Gaiden. May as well set it apart from them somehow.

No. The real reason they have made this black protagonist is because Sub-Saharan Africa has no recorded history from which to draw to make an Assassin's Creed game from their perspective. There are no great libraries detailing the tribal feuds of the ZXulus going back thousands of years. The first attempt to convert Afrikaans to a written language was made by Europeans in the early 19th Century.

He started as a retainer but overtime he impressed Oda enough to where he made him a samurai and by the time Oda passed yasuke was his personal sword and had the honor to be with him when he passed. This kind of exemplifies the problem with the discourse surrounding this game right now; everyone's too defensive of their viewpoint. One side's calling it woke and everyone who supports it woke and refusing to see any good from it to their opposition and the other side is calling the people who don't like the DEI in this game racist/sexist/homophobic. Neither side has actually said anything about the game itself or made a decent point. It's all pointing and screaming.

During the era of ancient Greece, women were totally trained to be Spartans. Also, we know that women were totally allowed to own weapons, armor, and their own warship to sail around Greece.
