    I’ve been sewing since I was 7. Mom sewed. I would make Barbie clothes. They were awful. 😂 As time passed (I am 62) I helped mom with alterations and would sew my own clothes. I still sew clothes for myself and also do the majority of any alterations I need for things I buy secondhand. My advice for fly zipper - do a few practice ones with scrap fabric. You only need to trace the pattern pieces for the zip area. Do a muslin mock up of the pants first to make any adjustments before using your good material. 🥰❤ Happy sewing adventures. 😘

      That is wonderful! I love that you started out with Barbie clothes, that’s so sweet. Thank you so much for the advice on tackling a fly zipper I will absolutely follow your tips! Thanks so much for watching and happy sewing to you as well! 😊❤️

    Been sewing for like 5 years now, but was always scared of making pants because of the fly zipper. But lately i needed new pants but i hate buying new pants and i wanna work to make my wardrobe fully hand made. So i tried the Diner Trousers from Lydia Naomi. Just finished my second pair, love it. The fly zipper is a lot of steps, but not difficult at all. Lydia really walks you through it in the video. And seeing a beautifully finished pair of trousers that i made is like a new sewing high. Really recomend the pattern

    I've been sewing ever since 2014 and my paternal grandmother (who passed away last year in December) taught me how to sew. I also do sewing on my channel too and I subscribed!❤ Sewing is the best thing ever! I hope you accomplish your goals.

    You have so many lovely sewing ideas for the year - it's given me some inspiration 😊 I love the rose cafe bustier dress - that's definitely on my list for this year. I shared your fear of buttonholes when I started sewing, but they've become one of my favourite things to sew now! They are so satisfying when done right. I'd recommend testing out thread tensions on your machine with a test swatch of your fabric, and you'll get the hang of it easily. Fray check also helps to keep them neat in the long term. Happy sewing!

    I love the rose cafe bustier dress pattern. Runs true to size and has many cup size options. Just make sure you have underwire that fits well, so the middle section of the bust lays flat against the body

    Great goals! I sew only for not even 2 years. I already made pants with zipper, but I did not conquer them 🤣 also made one corset top, patter from mood sewciety and added boning. I have otherwise similar goals. Make one stay, which should be easier and then move to 1880s-1890s corset. Then make full outfit from 1890-1900's. Then finish things for my daughter inbetween. And then make for myself another pants, something comfortable and at least a little bit adjustable. And then, maybe at the end of the year start to make the best coat ever for me!!! And one for my daughter of course 😊

      @CaitMakes  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you! Haha oh no, this is exactly what I'm afraid of haha. I hope 2024 is the year we both accomplish a pant zipper successfully! Those are great goals! A coat is definitely on my long terms goals list as well, but I'm too afraid of it at the moment haha. Thank you so much for watching and I wish you lots of success and fun in all your future sewing endeavors! :)

    Amazing, my goal for this year is to do a zipper! I only ever do button holes! Heard hoping we both conquer our fears!
    I’m also planning to do the rose cafe dress this year, can’t wait to see yours!

    Honestly I have the same goals pretty much exactly! I'm about to foray into making my bridesmaid gown for my sister's wedding and it's going to be layered like those dresses you have at the end of the video! Been doing lots of mockups. I'm using crepe-backed satin (polyester), which I don't love, but it was affordable. I too try to make everything out of natural fibers. Anyways, cheers to our goals! Let's do this together!!!

      That’s so exciting! Are you perhaps making a video on how you’re making this layered skirt dress? If so I will absolutely watch it! 😊 I hope it turns out exactly as your imagining and best of luck to you! That silhouette is so dreamy, perfect choice for a wedding! Thanks for watching! 😊❤️

    Love all your sewing inspo! I’m going to be making lots of cute matching outfits for my girls this year as I’m expecting my second daughter this summer! Do you remember what you used to get your color palette? I’m so curious to figure mine out!

      Thanks! Oh how cute! Congratulations and I hope all your projects go well! 😊❤️ I used colorwise.me for the color analysis. I did it a couple times with a couple different pictures of myself to test it and they all came back with the same pallet so I think it works fairly well haha. I’ve really enjoyed using it. 😊
