Στο βίντεο αυτό σας παρουσιάζω τα Δερβενάκια και την μάχη που έλαβε χώρα εκεί στις 26 Ιουλίου 1822 μεταξύ Ελλήνων και Τούρκων. Η έκβαση της μάχης ήταν νικηφόρα για τους Έλληνες με ηγέτη τον Θεόδωρο Κολοκοτρώνη και καταστροφική για τους Τούρκους που είχαν επικεφαλή τον Μαχμούτ πασά Δράμαλη. Επιπλέον αναφέρομαι στην ζωή του Θεόδωρου Κολοκοτρώνη καθώς και στον αρχιμανδρίτη Αρσένιο Κρέστα, ο τάφος του οποίου βρίσκεται στην περιοχή των Δερβενακίων και συγκεκριμένα στον ναό του Αγίου Σώζοντος.
DERBENAKIA
The battle at Dervenakia took place on 26/07/1822. The protagonist was Theodoros Kolokotronis. There is a statue of him there to remind us his great contribution to this battle.
Theodoros Kolokotronis was born in 1770 in Ramovouni, Messinia. His father Constantis was from Libovisi in Karytaina and was killed during the revolution of the Orlovians in the same year. Theodoros Kolokotronis at the age of 15 became kleftis and quickly formed his own military corps. He fought in the Russian-Turkish war of 1805 and was persecuted by the Turks for his actions. In 1810 in Zakynthos, where he had taken refuge, he joined the English army and for his bravery in the battles against the French he received the rank of major. In 1818 he was introduced to the friendly company. On 23/03/1821 he liberated Kalamata together with Petrobeis Mavromichalis and Papaflessa. He himself starred in many more military operations, such as the battle in Valtetsi, the battle of Grana, the fall of Tripolitsa, the battle of Saravalio Patras, the destruction of the army of Dramalis, the Dervenakia. And in the confrontation with Ibrahim's forces in 1825 -1828.
And to those who asked him about the outcome of the struggle, he answered, I had a dream that God signed the freedom of Greece and God does not take back his signature-. The -Old Man of Moria was undoubtedly the great leader and commander-in-chief of the National Liberator struggle of the Greeks. He died in 1843 in Athens.
The battle at Dervenakia was fought in the mountain passes between Corinth and the valley of Argos. Dervenakia means small passes in length. The outcome of the battle was victory for the Greeks under Theodorus Kolokotronis and destruction of the Ottoman forces under Mahmut Pasha Dramalis.
During the previous period, the Dramalis arrived with 30,000 men in the Peloponnese, initially occupied Acrocorinth and on July 13 the city of Argos. The Greeks implemented the plan of the pumpkin throne which provided for the blockade of the dramalis in the Argolis and the implementation of the scorched earth tactic, destroying the spartans of the province of Argos, in order to exterminate the Turks from famine.
Thus, the vales decided to temporarily return to Corinth and moved towards the Dervenakis. But there, according to the plan of Theodoros Kolokotronis, the main passage was guarded by Antonis Kolokotronis and about 1500 men, the plaputas with 800 men were in the Rope village and Nikitaras with Papaflessas and 800 men guarded the wreath and the Aionori village.
The battle that developed there lasted until late at night and the Turks suffered terrible losses in men, animals and materials. When it got dark, the Turkish effort stopped and they returned to Tiryns, where they had their camp before. The destruction of the army of Dramalis was completed in the battle of Agionorio on 28/07/1822. So Theodoros Kolokotronis became the organizer and main author of this victory that saved the revolution and ensured freedom in modern Greece.
The statue of Theodoros Kolokotronis, as well as for this I was maintained and bona fide from the region of Peloponnese. By 2022, the area is suitable for walks and picnics.
On the way to Andrianda of Theodoros Kolokotronis, we meet just before, the church of Agios Sozontos, where there is also the tomb of Archimandrite Arsenios Kresta. Papa-arsenis-, as he was better known, was introduced to the -friendly company and later fought in the Castle of Argos, Palamidi in Nafplio, but also elsewhere. He was killed on 28, 11 of 2022 and he was caught in the temple of Agios Sozontos.
