Let me just say your purple fur then yellow for your eyes, hair paws and claws is one of the most striking contrasts I've seen in a fursuit. It's very pleasing and catches attention in motion
Thank you! 💜💛
As a toe walker I would have a digitigrade suit no matter what I got
Well, even with practice, a plantigrade suit will look kind of goofy if you try to "digi walk" in it.
Once i get the money, im going to use your videos as a guidebook to getting a fursuit
That's what they're here for!
@@FinnThePanther I may not own a fursuit yet, but I'm gonna wear plantigrade legs when I get one.
You have one of the most GORGEOUS fur suits! That deep purple with the pops of bright yellow are amazing.
Thank you! 💜💛
i got mine with full-on digitigrade legs cos that's what felt cool @ the moment, but with the passage of time, i became drawn more to human-like anthro critters - now i'm seeing the effects of having a one-piece digitigrade bodysuit, hands, feet & all, & how it'll fit (or not) in an airline-acceptable suitcase as i'm trying 2 get 2 anthrocon
If you ask me a Partialsuit is the BEST option. If you want a Fullsuit a Plantigrade would be the best option for "good Legs".
7:26 - Wow. I guess you really *do* have good range of motion in that suit!
I can do the splits in real life, but I felt the seams in my legs tugging a little too hard while coming down 😅
@@FinnThePanther I could not do that. My little sister could probably tie herself in a knot, but I’m like a rubber band that was left in the sun for 2 years lol.
I love your suit.
Thank you! 💜
Hey Finn thanks for this useful information about the difference between Digitigrade and plantigrade like I didn’t even know they could save you money
I've been walking on my toes for years, and I've got pretty strong legs, so I'll probably go for a digitigrade suit. I'm aiming for realism with the design, and I intend to get a suit that I can wear in as many situations as possible, as easily as you could with a shirt. This video was definitely useful and informative! Have a nice day, internet stranger :3
As a self-made digit grade shooter I appreciate the amount of work you put into this presentation. 😸
After like half way on this video, once I get money to get my own fursuit I am going with the plantigrade if I am up to the challenge of being an oven in a fursuit, but I will have to do some drawing concept on my Fursona before I get and actual Fursona. Thank you for showing me some new things I never knew about Fursuits. 👍👍 It will help me
i appreciate the crouching down to represent digitigrade 😆
I love your fursona design is really cool, the purple and the yellow blends really well 😊
I've gone with a partial fursuit, head, tail and paws, not cooking hot, but still get to be my fursona 😋🦊
I like your videos (:
Full digigrade as well as heavily equipped.
Finn is a very smart fursuiter. Finn knows how to educate furries of all kinds. Great job Finn. Keep up the awesome content
Great quality, keep It up ❤
My full body suit is plantigrade.
Noice 😎
Another great video! And I'm lucky enough to be upvote 100!
Awesome video. I myself is a plantigtade kind of person just because of mobility. And plus price is in there too. Love the tons of info in this video. Keep up the awesome job.
I need to consult this video again when I get my full fursuit
I love digigrade but everytime I see them my mind goes to the Katt Williams bent back paperclip joke for just a moment xD
Once again, the timing of one of your videos is absolutely impeccable! This specific debate is one that I've been struggling with for quite a while now, since I've been wanting to get a fursuit but I am extremely confused and uncertain about which of the styles would be more suitable for me. My character does walk on his toes (even though he can put the whole foot down if he wants to), but he doesn't have the usual "thickness" and chonky look on the upper leg part that usually characterize digitigrade, which gives the rest of his legs a much more "human" look. All of this to say that I am very much in the middle of this debate and I just cannot choose which style would fit better, because both of them have something that accurately represents my character's legs and something that doesn't 😅 But this video gave me some good points of view and some clearer indications, so I'm really hoping to come to that final decision sooner or later, with some more help!
Thank you for the great video Finn, it's always a good and helpful time to hear you talk about these things!
To be honest, I would choose digitigrade only because I feel like the legs look bland when it comes to plantigrade, they just don't seem to have enough detail for me, while digirigrade makes something happen in the legs area, it adds detail and a different shape instead of just going straight up
this video came just in time!
A big step up in digitigrade realism would be using short lower-leg stilts, so you actually walk on small pads at the bottom of long metatarsal-like bones. Saw this used in the Vampire vs. Werewolves movies from about a decade+ ago. Hollywood magic which made for a very realistic-looking digitigrade Werewolf gait. One would need a good sense of balance to use these.
once I get the skill I will make mine my self, because, those things are expensive.
it gives a fulfilled feeling if doing all the hard work ourselves.
and, when it is finally finished, seeing the progress bettering on the way to go gives a great feeling.
I guess I will not be as skilled as the "professionals" in this genre.
yet, trying is the first step to succeed, then it is important to keep going.
make as many mistakes as possible on the way, because those mistakes matter.
I don't have experience for suit making yet, But I do have many years of experience in drawing.
skills are things which are never perfected, for some people it takes longer to learn a certain skill, and that is not a bad thing.
there is always a lot to learn.
I have always loved digitigrade from the start. And when i get enough money I will get me a digitigrade leg including getting a full suit bc I rlly don't like partial suits even though ik that it will cost less and it's simple. But I'm just the type who's gonna go straight for it, even if i didn't have experience being on a digitigrade stilt b4, or ig being on toes which i may have tried a little. But still, and I think your videos maybe very helpful for me to get fully prepared! :D you deserve a sub from me bc why not
i just want to give you big lion hugs. and my suit is plantigrade
Great video! My sona is basically almost exactly like the animals from Beastars, so all I’ve ever wanted at most was a partial with arm sleeves. She’s never nakey in her anthro form either, so a full suit or digitigrade legs would never work for her 😅
Thank you for using charts mentioning hooved animals as being unguligrade! It's so often forgotten about when talking about real animals and even moreso because of the use of digitigrade for suits.
I'm still debating on which types of legs I'll want for the 2 suits I'm working on right now. I'm a complete novice when it comes to both suitmaking and even sewing but the digi look is really tempting because of how cool it is.Eventually I'd like to learn how to make them but I agree that it's good idea to choose something easier being first time fursuiter(which I am in addition being a beginner costume maker). Maybe one could be digi and the other could be planti?
I own a digitigrade suit, I got used to heat and walking in one. But I do recommend if you overheat easily then plantigrade is your best bet or light digitigrade suit.
I don't care who the biologists send, I'm not gonna learn taxonomy!
Come on! Not even if it's a panther?
What about taxidermy?
The type of fursuit you want is highly dependent on comfort vs aesthetics and which is more important for you. A digitigrade fursuit is really just for aesthetics and you sacrifice comfort for the look. A plantigrade is for comfort but also aesthetics. Just ask yourself, is it more important that your character look the part or you would rather be comfortable? If your character is digi that is. I got a digi suit of my character in which the digi makes it super hot, heavy and hard to move. Wearing it is a workout! But that is the price I pay for wanting that look for my suit. I don't want another digi suit after this! However, I have another character that will be my next suit but it would not look good plantigrade so I will have to get it in digitigrade! Which would really suck... Obviously i care about looks more than comfort lol. But at least wearing digitigrade suits will keep me in shape! I do have other characters who are naturally digitigrade but if I were to get a suit of them I would go with a plantigrade suit because I think they would look better with them. The comfort of wearing plantigrade is just a bonus!
You may ask, which is better to start with as my first fursuit? Honestly, no one can tell you that. Like i previously mentioned, it depends on which is more important, comfort or aesthetics. My very first suit was digitigrade because that's just how I wanted my suit to look. Some digitigrade fursuits are more breathable and comfortable than others, that depends on the maker. You can ask the maker how they make their digitrade fursuits and how it is worn, and also get opinions from other people who have a digitigrade suit from them. That way you can decide if you think you can handle it. Different makers also have different styles on how they want their suits to look on the outward appearance. So find different makers and look at pictures of their digitigrade legs and compare styles that you like better. I always look at pictures to see which maker makes the kind of digitigrade legs that I like. There are slim digi, standard digi, and really THICC digi. Makers who make slim digi are SpiritPanda and ZuriStudios. I think my Swayze fursuit is the latter lol. Also, you can ask the maker if they can adjust the size of their digi. They are all willing to make changes and tweaks during construction if you let them know ahead of time, otherwise they will make it how they normally make it. I didn't ask for anything special on my suit and just let my fursuit maker work so in the end product, I can see their standards in construction.
If you want to start off with plantigrade, that's fine too! You can even commission your maker again to make you a digitigrade body suit at a later date if you so choose, or ask them to make two body suits right off the bat! A lot of makers love having return customers and you dont always have to wait for a commission opening if you're just getting new parts. Don't be afraid to ask. I think I actually WILL have someone make me a plantigrade body suit later for my Swayze fursuit. You don't have to go to the same maker for extra parts as long as they use the same fur if they can find it.
13 seconds agooo :3
Hey this is awesome i love your videos
I like plantigrade myself my sona is a wild west peacekeeper sheriff and i plan on wearing wild west clothing over the fursuit tho i will get a fursuit cooling vest to go under over the under armor to stay cooler
I do like the realism but I really really love comfort over all... this is a tough choice for me 😢😫
i have only one digi fursona because of it being harder to draw them because its harder to referance myself for proportions and harder to walk but for some reason i have a differance in personality when on my toes and im for some reason happier idk why
I know a fursuit maker that does 3/4 partial suits for a really good price, they make knee high digitigrade "boots" that are really nice, but i don't think they'd do well incorporated into a fullsuit.
what about droppedcroch siuts?
I have digitigrade and never find it difficult to walk with.
Cutie :3
I was just waching finnish furry vids
I have yet to build my suit solely because i dont have the funds to buy all the parts, especially since my sona is a tiger with bird wings. But i will be using your advice. 7:31
I have designed my sona with plantigrade legas for a few reasons. The first one is, its my first one and im building the Suit by my self an Plantigrande makes it way easier. But the main reason, she is not designed with a fur Body suit, but with a space suit. Thats sets her in the space between a partial and a full Suit. And a Digigrade wouldn't look as good as plantigrade for this design.
First fursuit? Are we getting a Finn vol.2 ?
There are other characters I have that I'd like suits for :)
@@FinnThePanther that's so good to hear! I can't wait to see them in the future!
2:09 wolves and Panthers and any big cat are digitigrade
"Let me explain"
did you kill your podcast
Very weird way to call it "stilts" (toes/digigrade) vs "soles"/"shoes" (sole/plantigrade)
I am like number 535
Bruh not another infected one
Not surprised, another infecfed anti-fur
