    The bit about tripping on your feet was too real, I swear 90% of my first con was not realising how big my feetpaws were and stumbling over the convention hall.

      First time I tried on a fursuit, it was a digitigrade fursuit. I had to walk so widely xD
      It felt quite weird. But now I own a plantigrade fursuit which is a bit easier to walk in. But still. It has big feetpaws so I have to walk a bit widely :p

    One thing I've learned is that it's far easier to stick a straw through your fursuit mouth into your actual mouth and move that down to drink from a can or a glass or something, instead of putting the straw in the drink first like you normally would.

    feetpaw bit is so real- i nearly wiped out the first time i tried going down the stairs in my paws. eventually i managed to figure out a way to angle my feet sideways so i could have more of my actual foot on the stairs, but it's still a lil spike of adrenaline every time i go down-

    figured out the eyes thing first-hand last Halloween - not fortunate enough to own a suit, but i had a mask i made that was decently fursuit-adjacent. i got dizzy and disoriented when i tried seeing through the eyes normally, and often found myself looking out of one eye or the other. it had the fringe benefit of helping me perform, at least; after a while i started leaning into it, making jerky movements with my head, neck and body when looking around ^^'

  • @Evlionn
    @Evlionn 5 месяцев назад +9

    Regarding the hand-waving, while it's not the same as wearing an actual suit, when VR in some avatars with sizable paws, I find myself doing that exaggerated wave as well, and for the same reason. It's really hard to notice due to the fact that the paws are quite large relative to your hand size.

    7:17 As a cheetah myself with hand sewn spots, stretching the suit is something I'm trying my very best to prevent as well. There are moments where seams might pop, and your maker lives quite far away where you need to learn basic sewing. It has come very handy twice for me now as I've had my suit now for 2 weeks. So just be aware, if you wanna have a fursuit with a lot of hand sewn markings, spots, stripes or so, be aware. Do not stretch often and be aware that you might have to sew some stitches yourself here, now and then.
    (7:45 It's also more healthier for your back to squat down to pick up stuff 😉)

    Eyelids are also tricky as far as seeing with a suit head. It creates fun emotions like sleepy or angry, but it makes the vision even more skewed vs having full eyesight.

    8:30 One thing I would like to add about sitting in fursuit, is that sitting can mat the fur over time which looks pretty ugly. One hack I have to mitigate the issue is to discreetly “swipe” my paws down the area of the body where I sit, going with the grain of the fur pile. I also avoid scooting around where I sit, since that will definitely mat the fur pile. Keeping this in mind has really helped me keep a nice looking fursuit body on my numerous critters!

  • @TwelveNotes87
    @TwelveNotes87 4 месяца назад +4

    All of this is too real as another commenter said. the sitting thing omg, its like I know how to sit ahh. lol. These among many other reasons is why I did a lot of "homework" before I get even just a fursuit head.

    I've seen a lot of your short form content but never a full length video before, but I think this was very informative. It's been a goal of mine to get a fursuit since I joined the fandom almost 2 years ago now and I've never really stopped to consider the fact that it's basically a set of armor, in the sense that it limits your movement and forces you to adapt. Thank you for teaching me this! I'll watch your video about introverts next, since I think there's a lot for me to learn there aswell

    I'm a New Furry and tried on a Friend's Full Fursuit and it is definitely different than walking normal , sitting , standing up from a sitting position and it's definitely almost like being in a Sauna but it's also amazing, I was only going to go with a Partial but after trying on her Full Fursuit I'm definitely going that direction , I felt like I would be more confident and comfortable being fully covered with my Fursuit can't describe it and I felt really secure it was an amazing experience. Definitely stay hydrated and drink plenty of water while in a Full suit and be the adorable person you genuinely are .

All you do is wrap the fur over the edge of the foam layer, and glue another foam layer on top. I've got white paws and they don't get that nasty ring of muck around the bottom.

    I absolutely can relate to the idea of becoming one with your fursuit. When I wear my suit, I don't really even feel like I'm acting or performing, it's more like just relaxing and letting the spirit of the suit take the wheel while my own everyday personality slips into the back seat and enjoys the ride as a passenger.
    I've admittedly had a few moments too when I've been at work or some other very non-furry space, and my fursuit personality would suddenly come out. 😆

    The way my suit head is, its a demogorgon so there have to be no obvious eyes, the eyes are covered with thin translucent black fabric, so the visibility is fairly blurry and dark. It's ok for seeing my general surroundings, but when I wanna get a close look at something, I can tilt the head up and look out the mouth. Very narrow and uncomfy for my neck, but what vision I do get it mostly unobstructed, while the eyeholes have a fairly wide field of view but are somewhat obscured

    It's very odd... Considering that I have a naturally different walking gait all due to the curvature of my spine forcing me to basically walk "strangely or weird" ad other people say when I'm walking normally, and this THIS thing has weirdly actually allows me to walk easier in large fursuit feet paws due to my normal walking gait. I've never had to learn how to walk in my fursuit feet paws as a result just only be a little more aware of them bumping into things more than myself and I've never... Stepped on my own feet wearing them on top of this. It's odd. In fact, if I try to walk more "normally" like most people, it ACTUALLY physically is uncomfortable and can be painful at times and risks me to roll my ankles more as a result if I try!

    Hey! I think your suit is really cool and i really like it, i think you seem quite trustworthy and I was wondering if you had any advice for me, im a 12 year old furry, soon to be 13, and im anxious about my future, i obviously want a
    fursuit, at this age, since females grow less than males, i think a partial would be safe, but my issue, is my family does NOT like the idea of a fursuit at all, in fact,
    they really dont like me even mentioning getting one in the future when im a adult! What do i do? If i want a job, what will my boss think of me fursuiting at home? And then lastly, im unsure of how to afford going to conventions, and how to pay for my fursuit when i want it,
    what if my parents dont even want me in their house because id be wearing a fursuit?

    I dunno about typical fursuits, but I have adapted so well to my suit that I can look past the nose on my suit and see straight on. I handle for my friends while wearing my suit. And it's really well ventilated so public suiting isn't too hard, even in heat.

    I know I'm late to the conversation but, I never wore a Fursuit or any suit at all, even though I did dress up as a were-wolf for Halloween one time, but I don't know if that counts?? 🤨

    Fun thing on the vision: I'm blind from birth in my right eye, so my vision is even more shit. LOL. D:
    But at least my resin heads have hollow noses, so I can see through that thankfully.

    Question, how long do you usually wear your suit a day?

      If I'm at a con, maybe 5-7 hours. But otherwise it's just for videos and if people come over to snuggle in suit!

    finally an answer to my life long question: does one just put full body suit on in house for normal life either the whole suit or just the body as a onesie😂

    "becoming one with your suit" reminds me of transhuman philosophy, the suit acts as an extension of the wearers body and over time and practice it "becomes one" with the wearer

    So what you're saying is that that fursuiters can put
    " experienced costume mascot performer" on their resumes
