What a beautiful landscape to be riding through. To be honest, I think a bike like the Royal Enfield Classic 350 would be ideal for such narrow roads and put you in a slower state of mind. Awesome work Kate and Lillie!
Well, you're both certainly on the right bikes to tackle those rough farm tracks that the locals probably call roads!! What an effing beautiful area that is, and what a hell of a ride..., i'm so jealous of you having that not far from your backdoor step. Lovely video, here's hoping we get treated to a part 4.
I did virtually the exact same route last Thursday. Cloudless skies 20 degrees hardly anyone on the passes. Nearly hit that pothole on Hardknot. Absolutely beautiful final day trip of the season. Can only watch biker videos now next year
It's been far too ling since I've been to the lakes, I really must plan to go again at some point. Those views bring back some great memories. A cracking video Kate and Lillie.
The camera doesn't give a true picture of how steep the roads are, how sharp some of those bends are and how poor the road surface is in so many parts. Even so great fun especially on a gorgeous sunny summer's day, you obviously enjoyed every minute as i have everytime I've been over Hardnott.
Nice to see that you and your buddy enojoys the ride, the nature instat to keep moving fast as hell! I gues you had such a beautfull time together! Stay healthy and ride save!
I was shouting ‘Hardknott Roman Fort’ as you rode past the cars parked up. One of the finest Roman forts in the UK. I did a couple of videos about it on my channel. I followed every inch of your ride. I’ve done it on bikes and cars many times. I know every pothole, and like you say, those inclines are scary as hell. It’s a wonderful place.
@@UsernameKate absolutely. I’ve filmed it in the car , but never on a bike. I loved your video, and subscribed. My biking days are over, but there are so many great biking channels. I recently watched a couple about some Danish lads touring the UK. It was awesome.
Fantabulous last vlog to the series ladies. I'm doing all the lakes passes soon. Looking forward to your next vlog adventures dukeofblonde/dukeofbrunette .....the cake and tea tours 😉🤙👍
Great vid, love those pass's. We rode up Honister Pass and had exactly the same thing happen with 2 jets coming up from behind, it sounded like we were going to get mown down ! Plus I caught them on the GoPro going over our heads which was cool
Following your channel has got me back into biking for the first time since 1988..... yes that long , me next for a pillion with Lillie holding on tight for safety....
Hey Kate how are you doing today looking forward to seeing this later on today nothing beats seeing you and lily on two wheels wearing your swanky helmet's and dark visor's ride safe lovely 🤩
Different viewpoints are so funny! I find going up hairpins so much easier. I have an xv1700, so the weight of my bike might have something to do with it. Going up hill, you control your speed with the throttle and if you ease off the throttle the bike slows down. Going down a hairpin the bike is always wanting to speed up. I've just got back from the Alps, doing Le Route De Grandes Alps and going down I lost my back brakes twice and front brakes once due to them over heating!
LOL at your reaction to the jet! 🤣 Funny Jet Story #1: My late girlfriend was mad keen on the Lakes and knew them much better than I did. She'd taken me to a place where the road crossed the end of a valley (can't remember the name). We parked up our bikes, walked across the road to the valley side to look at the view, and the words, "just listen to how quiet it is" had literally just crossed her lips when two RAF Tornados (one of THE noisiest jets), who'd been flying up the valley, pulled up sharply right in front of us. The noise was _devastating_ : one of those sounds that completely maxes out your ears and you feel through your diaphragm and the soles of your feet. As a complete aviation geek I had an ear-to-ear grin, but she assumed I was laughing at her curled up in a ball on the floor in shock... as if i would...🤣😈 Funny Jet Story #2 (You saying you thought it was lion reminded me of this): I was despatch riding one day, heading north on that bit of the M6 where the northbound and southbound carriageways split, the north being higher than the south. I was tired, It was blustery, and the constant turbulent battering on my helmet was doing my head in. I kept going into that wierd "kinetic trance" state you get into on fast but boring motorway journeys. Then I heard a dog barking over my right shoulder, and my spaced-out brain's first reaction was "huh, where's that dog?". Then a second later, reality snapped back: "you're in the outside lane doing 80mph you berk: THERE IS NO BLOODY DOG!" Then I saw the source of the sound: three RAF Jaguars (like a Tornado but smaller) were flying north up the valley practically level with me, and the turbulence around my helmet was chopping up their jet roar into dog-like "barks".🤣 The Jags got their come-uppence for confusticating me though. As I watched, they suddenly pulled up and banked hard right, as if reacting to something. Looking ahead of them, I could see two curls of dirty smoke. That only meant one thing in the UK at the time: an air-defence F-4 Phantom "turning into" them, and they'd turned into him to foil his attack. However just as they levelled out on their new course, _another_ Phantom streaked in from the left, right behind them, perfectly lined up for a shot. The two Phantoms had suckered them: the first had made an obvious move and provoked them into lining themselves up for the second to kill. Not saying I stood up on the pegs and shouted "SERVES YOU RIGHT YOU BASTARDS!" 'cos obviously I'd never say that I did anything as pointless and dangerous as that, honest...😇
Looks nice riding - I should get up there one day. On hairpins, I prefer uphill to downhill 🙂as gravity is on your side as a final precaution: if you get it wrong the bike will stop and fall over. I've seen too many scrapes on Alpine hairpins that lead to edge and over where someone has either cocked up the downhill turn or had target fixation on the scenery and momentum just took them over.
Great video ladies, Stunning countryside, we've just got back from doing 4 passes for the first time and it was raining when we did the hardknott🙈'swamp croch'🤣❤️ recommend the Honister pass nice cafe at the slate mine 👍
13:43 I've been told by those that know that the little bridge is the 'marker' and the cattle grid is the start line of Hardknot Pass going up and the reverse when you come down. Most riders would say the bridge is the actual finish when coming down.
Now you can't tell me that the views and scenery in the Canarys are better than here... It is so much greener and more variable in this area and not just ups and downs in different shades of grey and beige, like on that island. The only thing the Canarys have better than the northern counties of England is the weaather... full stop! And that's why I wanna come back and just ride those wonderful northern counties instead of trying to drive round the whole country (with a dodgy clutch) and not completing my mission , missing out East Anglia. The condition of the roads, although not the best, is much better up north than down south which is another argument to stay up in the north.
Hi Kate , great blogg Grattis to Lilly for her birthday. What brand of jacket and jeans is she wearing as they look very stylish on her. I think to do a blog on ladies clothing would go down well as plenty of women riding now , and think it would be well received.Yes those jets buzzing can scare the crap out of you😂❤️🏍👍🇸🇪
@@dukeofblonde Thank you Lilly, they look very stylish, which is important for ladies, but practical too. I will have to look at your channel , and hope you enjoyed your birthday. All the best from Sweden 🇸🇪 Philip 🌺🏍
Give me a good ole English Cakery any day of the week..., if I lived in the UK, i'd be huge! As far as riding uphill or downhill is concerned, I find that up is much easier than downhill. Downhill requires much more concentration and skill. Riding up, is easier to gage which gear and speed you need to navigate the corner and is much easier on your brakes. I wonder what Mike's thoughts are on that, I noticed on the last Canary instalment, he was talking to you about such things. NB, maybe it's coz I live very near to a very mountaineous region and have had many years of practicing both. Btw, I saw that the height of one of the passes is 333 m above sea level. Where I live, is considered lowland and is 403 meters., so you'd have a blast here!
That BMW car doesn't actually have tax, so it can't be parked there 😂 if a cop checks him out, it's gonna get towed away. It does have MOT though. Till April next year.
Crap seats by the sound of it I always take a large bin bag to cover the seat. Just a tip to help you get the bike up right turn the handle bars to your right.
I lost my BMW r1150r on the Hardknott pass in bad weather and broke several ribs. I've never gone near it since, some of the car drivers up there are a little inconsiderate..
