  • Salvesen Mindroom Research Centre and Salvesen Mindroom Centre are partners, working together from research and practice perspectives, to improve the lives of neurodivergent young people and their families.
In this, our fourth annual Salvesen Lecture Professor Edmund Sonuga-Barke of King's College London starts by asking "Does the neurodiversity concept provide a foundation for a new science of neurodevelopment?", drawing on decades of work primarily focused on ADHD and mental health.
Edmund is then joined by colleagues Dr Sylvan Baker and Dr Susie Chandler, showcasing their creative and inclusive research approach.

19:55 for anyone interested about this idea of critiquing diagnoses from a social perspective, would recommend looking up the social model of disability! It’s one approach that clearly explores the ways in which medical categories (such as ‘disabled’ or ‘impaired’) are connected to societal values - I really enjoyed reading about it during my Social Anthropology degree 😊
