    I want to add a remark to Imam Tom, What define us from other creatures is:
    1_ Moral capacity & limiter especially monitoring ones self!
    2_ Our Roles & obligations of which we are created for..
    Your talk inspired these points to ponder on!
    1_ Defining what "Humans" are is not up to us! rather the creator... its a meta-physical term that is refused in atheism (the father of secularism)!
    Its a term that denotes reason, worth, rights, a whole set of obligatory responsibilities & duties towards other creatures.
    2_ There is a must to acknowledge the current state we find ourselves in.
    We are in a competition, however the tool of measure is Taqwa rather than image (what you look like) or any other tools like geographic origin or gender!
    We saw first hand the priority & treatment of White people over other colors for being from other origins in Ukraine borders.
    3_ what we consider developed country is an environment that boosts & encourage good morals + discourage & prohibits bad morals.
    we find Most countries adopting secularism "gradually" encouraging bad morals & normalizing it!
    Another consideration for a developed country is to provide true safety, not out of fear of others (agency or bearing arms like the old west) but for being conscious and cognizant of God monitoring his actions!

    Thank you again for a mind broadening lecture. I agree with very much of the logic and conclusions reached. A main theme bears more contemplation. Modernity has certainly subordinated religion which in the past was called Truth. But isn't it so that much of that "truth" has been proven to be untrue? Is the Pope infallible? Used to be. Does the sun, by religious dicta, orbit the earth? Used to.

    • @midoevil7
      @midoevil7 2 года назад

      You noticed that both the speakers are Muslims, right ?
      Any way, AFAIU the whole point is secularism/naturalism is a "Religion" by itself, very similar to Christianity if we compare ,but acts as if it is not.
      It has it own metaphysical assumptions, doesn't bother to prove it, it self-defines itself as a "truth", it labels its opposition as "terrorists", "separatists", "anarchists" , and it punishes those "heretics" with the solid hand of authority.
      It has it own "Books", "Sharia/law system" , "Moral views", and even rituals : National holidays, parades, anthems , etc

    • @chuckhillier4153
      @chuckhillier4153 2 года назад

      @@midoevil7 You honor me with your reply. Thank you. I understood a main point being that the West erred when it left religious "truth" for secularism. My point is that the old religious "truth" has turned out to not be true, as the critics of Christianity on this blog have correctly pointed out.

    Also the secular definition of religion, is more to make people understand in the classroom that we have commonality so people don't want to hate eachother. Not necessarily stating they're the same. Being taught in New York in the u.s we were taught the difference in highschool as well as the similarity to reduce prejudice. And it works where it is practiced.

    • @TomFacchine
      @TomFacchine 2 года назад +4

      It's not the secular definition of religion we're analyzing, it's the very category of religion itself that implies that "religions" are fundamentally the same. Before there was the word and concept "religion," people used concepts such as Truth and Falsehood, Faith and Infidelity, etc. One can only think to rationally group Islam, Christianity, Buddhism etc. together in one category by accepting a degree of sameness, something a non-secular subjectivity cannot do. As a Muslim who believes that Islam is the truth sent by my Creator, all other "religions" are false.
      To assume that in order to decrease prejudice we have to work through the category of "religion" is premature. I can deny the validity of something and not be prejudiced towards its members. Rather, this shows something particular about Euro-American Christian culture--carried into the secular age--and its trouble tolerating difference.
      All things we have covered in these videos.

    • @MobytheMonster
      @MobytheMonster 2 года назад +1

      I was mostly talking about the school bit but all the same its not that simple in my opinion. It's a broad classification but there are also the minor classifications such as monotheistic, polytheistic ect, then in the classroom, they break down doctrines of each faith. It's not like at least from my experience, they blanket all the religions into one simple lesson and call it a day. They even tested us on the 5 pillars of Islam and this is post 9/11 N.Y.S Now if you were to go 3 states south I bet the curriculum would be along the same lines as what you are saying. If not extraordinarily exclusively western religious history. The problem is, people start arguing about which truth is truth and probably that exact reason is why they came up with a broad term like "religion" in the first place. Sometimes it's the language, but other times the language was made like that for historical reasons. And I nor anyone else knows the true origins of that word. So for all we know it could have come after a religious war took many lives and people then vowed to stop speaking in superiority over others beliefs. I also know prejudice certainly mostly comes from ignorant people who think their truth is the only one to be taught to their children. If they were to decide it was up to parents, the U.S would have an increase in hate crimes in ten years if not less. I definitely see the validity in your point, language builds a society. But society also builds it's language. Which one is the answer is the hard part and depends on the word I think. Also see problems with trying to implement difference when many older folks don't understand because they were taught the whole "no race but the human race" virtue in school. It's draining for them to change the mentality in racial terms. As for younger folks opinions are where they find their intolerance which can be equally bad. I don't know what we can all do to fix the problem other than talk even though we may differ. But the French are definitely inviting hatred with their xenophobic laws and I know are far more secular in their nature. But hate will be brought to them as well and the whole thing will be exacerbated by then justifying their xenophobia and the cycle continues. Just as it does everywhere else where anyone is not the same. Examples can be seen in modern eastern civilizations as well. Not sure if it's solely due to colonization or if it's simply human in nature. Thank you for the discussion and these videos. Don't get enough vigorous intellectual conversation where I live lol happily reading the Quran btw it's a very nice experience.

    • @TomFacchine
      @TomFacchine 2 года назад +1

      @@MobytheMonster Right, but classifications have metaphysical principles and stances behind them, they're never truly neutral. To decide to categorize Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, etc. as 'religions' assumes a commonality that is distinctly materialistic (religions are made up up rituals, symbols, practices, texts). In this way of rendering things, reality is separated from belief. What's real is the secular self and the beliefs are laid on top and rendered by their categorization as somewhat substitutable, that is the kind of separable religiosity that secularism produces and encourages. For a person whose faith is their paradigm, there is no separation between reality and belief, belief IS reality. The classification of other heresies and infidelities alongside the Truth makes a mockery of what you hold to be True. Rather, it calls for a different classification, whether Truth and Falsehood, Good and Evil, Fidelity and Infidelity, Orthodoxy and Heresy, etc.
      I'm not talking about prejudice, I'm talking about the metaphysics of the category itself. They could teach you all year about different religions and give you as much granular detail as possible. The way it is classified cannot but express a certain way of looking at the world, one that is not neutral especially toward religious claims. "Religion" as a category was not just invented to stop people from arguing about what is true, it in itself is yet another, different assertion of what is true. Now, you're 100% right about the historical dimension, this is largely a response within Western Christianity because religiosity was so intolerant. But it's premature to assume that another type of classification like those mentioned above necessarily leads to prejudice and hate crimes. The politics of what to do about difference is a very separate question from the question of difference itself.
      Glad to hear you're reading the Quran, happy reading.

    The Bible states man is above all other of Gods creations, which is why western normative culture treats animals in disrespectful ways. Things are changing a bit with us younger folks. Also, living in the United States, as much as we claim secular laws, a lot of our culture is very puritan in nature. Politicians talk about God even on the left. Part of our nationalism born in the 50s include puting God in the pledge of allegiance and on the dollar. Anyone who is outside of that Christian culture is scapegoated and shunned by people who also are okay with human torture and the people who aren't are usually a lot more poor unless they're a celebrity. Our laws are being shifted by extremely Christian people and that is why I don't personally condemn secularism, though I condemn laws and foreign policy trying to universally paint laws and treaties based on one particular world view.

      Is that seriously your argument? Tell me something, when the Islamic caliphate was the ruling power in the world for many centuries, and during the Islamic golden age, were the Muslim lands secularized? No, they were ruled according to Sharia. What about the Ottoman caliphate prior to western powers invading and dissolving it using the divide-and-conquer strategy? Was it secularized? No, again, it was ruled according to Sharia. Muslim lands being "less developed" is only a recent phenomenon that was unprecedented in history, and it stems directly from invasions and attacks from foreigners, primarily western aggressors.

    So it is clear that in the bible there is no command to worship Jesus or pray on behalf of Jesus. But somehow Christians actually practice teachings that are not the teachings that were conveyed by Jesus himself but the teachings of the bible writers (who can change, add to, even subtract & hide the truth of Jesus' teachings and write them down in the bible). Unfortunately, they believe in Christian preachers (past & present) who are misguided & lie (mislead). Now you Christian preachers who are misguided and religious liars dare to oppose/challenge the words of Allah swt (the almighty God, creator of the heavens and the earth and all that is in it), you are instead following in the footsteps of the accursed devil (by slapping your lusts by being indifferent) in your own life let alone others, you are really ignorant, stubborn & arrogant, like people who are blind, deaf & have no place in the heart to accept & acknowledge the truths of Allah swt (which are contained in the Quran & Hadith). Then Allah has promised you a return to the eternal hell which contains a very hot hell fire and very painful torments.

    '' Those who believe (in the Quran) and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures) and the Christians and the Sabians->ANYAllah< Is The Protector Of Monasteries, Churches, Synagogues And The Mosques )
    Quran 22:40
    [They are] those who have been evicted from their homes without right - only because they say, " Our Lord is God " And were it not that God checks the people, some by means of others, there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of God is much mentioned. And God will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, God is Powerful and Exalted in Might.
    Note: Why did Allah protected Churches and Synagogues if they worship false Allah ?

    Question: How Can Muslim And the Non-Muslim "submit" to the God?
    Answer: Be kind to other human beings and Do not lie, Do not steal, Do not cheat, Do not hurt others, Do not be prideful and Do the charity work.

    Quran 5:5
    ''This day [all] good foods have been made lawful, and the food of those who were given the Scripture (ie Christian and Jew) is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them. And lawful in marriage are chaste women from among the believers (ie Muslim ) and chaste women from among those who were given the Scripture (ie Christian and Jew) before you, when you have given them their due compensation, desiring chastity not unlawful sexual intercourse or taking [secret] lovers. And whoever denies the faith - his work has become worthless and he in the Hereafter will be among the losers.''

    Secularism is addressing human wellbeing…Islamism is addressing Islamic supremacy. Secular thinkers care about truth. Muslim apologist care to present Islam true. The declaration of human rights is compiled by self evident basic laws that serve human wellbeing. The only ppl that find those controversial are no surprisingly ppl that doesn’t really care about wellbeing. Don’t confuse apologist for skeptics.

      Secularism cannot decide human well being...
      What is secularism , who is secularism to tell people about their well being.
      There is Nothing on the back of secularism to rely on..
      Secularism do not give ppl a purpose of life..it has no moral limits..
      If today secularism is saying gay lasbian is ok..
      Tomorrow it can easily say to sex with your fathers n mothers..
      Secularism gave nothing to this world...but just a selfish and moraless society

      @@deception6666 Human wellbeing is not an abstract decision of some deity. There are obviously real things in the real world that favour human wellbeing in relation to our physiology. If Allah tomorrow claims drinking battery acid favours human wellbeing he will simply be wrong. Reason and evidence overstate Islamic revelations when it comes to truth.

    I do not agree with the Idea that Muslims are Ummah in this age in particular for the following reasons.
    First, we Muslims as a whole are separated from each other and every Muslim nation has its own Islam ideas and philosophy which is different from the others.
    Second, We have many Islamic sects like Sufi Ummah, Shiites Ummah, Sunni Ummah...etc.
    Third, within each Muslim nation there are different groups, there is the political movement group, the Quranic group, the liberal group, the Brotherhood of Islam...etc. and each of those claim to be right and deserve to lead the Muslims.
    Until the whole Muslims unite on the right bath first there will not be no Islamic Ummah.
    And whoever say that a Khalifa will unite them all he is hallucinating because no sect or group will submit to him (إن الله لا يغير ما بقوم حتى يغيروا ما بأنفسهم) Allah will not change the people until they change themselves.

      there will always be sects, it is the nature of humans,
      It is more about how those sects act together to fulfill the greater goal
