Check out their song called "God Went North". it gives the line "she stuck around for you" a little more context. From what I know, you were right on about the meaning. It's about the lead singer's sister and her struggle with addiction meanwhile their mother is dying of cancer.

Loved your reactions. I found this band a few years ago and they are amazing. Their songs seem to always have a powerful message. This song is about the singers sister who had a problem with addiction. I recommend checking out God Went North as well. It is the sort of a continuation of this song but very powerful and emotional.

This track hits me hard because I’ve been raising my nieces for the past 15 years because my sister got into drugs and even after many times in rehab hasn’t been able to stay clean and I was right out of high school so I didn’t get a free 20’s because I was responsible for looking after them seeing them off to school and picking them up so I didn’t drink or smoke weed much during my 20’s

    Awesome Band
"This is the time (ballast)" for heavyness/epic vocals & chorus.
"God Went North" & "Fade in/Fade Out" for major feels/emotions.
They always have interesting/thoughtful lyrics though & the singer has a hell of a voice.

This song means alot to me. The truth is ugly. I haven't been an addict, but depression, PTSD, etc... Take a huge toll on a person. Then, when I lost my mother, I finally realized that she had been trying to be there for me, trying to show me I mean something, I am someone, and I do have a place on this Earth, but I was drowning in all my emotions to see that while she was still alive. Not to mention, the name... Jenny.... I feel like this is my anthem 😭😭🖤🖤

Jonny Hawkins the lead singer wrote this song about his sister going through addiction and mental health issues and during this time their mother was dying of cancer. So even in her dying days she suffered through she tried to live as long as possible to help Jenny. Nothing More donated a % of all ticket sales on their "the turth" tour to mental health and awareness. Had the pleasure of seeing them live on that tour in Dallas, Tx. Nothing More is an amazing band and one of the best live bands I ever seen.

It was their mom yes. Dying of cancer and tried her hardest to stay around to see her daughter, his sister (Jenny) try and recover

That song is about the singer's sister during the time that his mother was sick and passing away.

So this is a really sad story of the lead singers sister who had a very bad addiction problem this is what he stated in an interview "I have two sisters, Jenna and Jessie, and the middle sister became the problem child as she went into her adolescent years. She got into bad circles of friends who were really toxic and just bad people. She went down a dark path. My mom was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer, and was taken from us, but in that final year of my mom's life, Jenna was just going off the rails and getting worse and worse. My mother was hanging on for dear life, having surgery after surgery just to get any extra inch she could to be a part of Jenna's life, because she was kind of the sheep that had gone astray."

Spoken from a true outsider’s perspective. Jussayin, this is one of those songs that hits you in the heart, because you’re one of the damned; or, it’s just not a language you speak. Personally, I breathe their lyrics, and because of songs like this I can use as an outlet, I make better decisions. ✌🏽

I know what Jonny Hawkins was going through first hand. I watched as my grandfather withered away to mesothelioma while a family member was hooked. It was excruciating to feel powerless to help. I was angry, I still loved the family member in question but I know exactly why a man can think the callous thought of just telling someone "why don't you just end it then?". It's an almost unfathomable level of pain that a person has to go through to be able to understand how that thought is excusable... but it is excusable. The guilt from a thought like that is a burden that thousands of good people will carry all their lives... remember that when dealing with others, you can't possibly know what they've been through and survived.
