Nice Video Clint and thanks for the shout out! Very happy that you have come back over to the dark side lol. I do really love the idea of the aluminum performance cat and will be very interested to hear what your conclusions are after your meeting. Also keep in mind that aluminum comes with its own quirks, and building it yourself, or having it built is going to require you to become an expert in just about everything on the boat…which is a good thing! I can tell you that the process is daunting even having a company like Nexus building our boat for us, the shear number of decisions and compromises is mind boggling! I still wake up at night thinking I’ve forgotten something!
Good luck and looking forward to your updates.

Hey Kirk - thanks as always for your detailed comments and apologise about the delay in getting back to you. I hear every word you typed here and the "forced learning" of getting to know every system inwards out is what is drawing me to this plan. The video on the debrief with David is dropping next Monday. Thanks again for all your valuable insight and support

@@sailing.destiny Looking forward to it! I'd highly recommend getting aboard one of his finished products to understand the level of fit and finish as it compares to the other boats out there in the world. There is no free lunch and just be cognizant of the advertised "cost to build" vs. what you envision in your mind you are getting for that amount. A good rule of thumb would be to take what you think it will cost you and add 50% and 2 years to whatever timeframe you give yourself. Consider if you want to spend 3-4 years building the boat vs. sailing or enjoying your time doing fun stuff like surfing vs. working on a boat...If the answer is still yes I want to build, then go for it! Best of luck and excited for your adventure!

Coint: Thank you for your prompt reply, but I want to reiterate my offer and request to assist and join our in your effort to BUILD & DETAIL DESIGN your Aluminum catamaran. If you watched a the previous DELOS video where they listed the " demands of what they wanted * " on there NEW catamaran. Likewise, in videos by Nahoa, The Wynns ,they all focus on fun, activities, color & texture. I respect there years lining at Sea, again they do not focus on the details of construction, SAFETY and single handed sailing. I know Jamie ,of "Sailing Jupeter" and inparticular
the construction of their cat and insulation of it, compared to the Fire loss experience of the "Barefoot Sailors " insulation of their New cat build
where they both are exposing their lives to fire and smoke generated in a Fire incident ! Additionally, the lack of ability to inspect the metal struture
let alone ability to repair same! There is a SCIENCE to building not just
assemble or lofting the collective lined of design. What I am offering you is my attendance to assist you in every detail of your design process and the election / review of planing thru completion. I am offering you a
partner thru design, and Construction in every aspect as a inspector and Project Manager. Can we please have a detailed conversation so you can completely understand my sincere long term offer to provide you with my 60 years of catamaran sailing and EXPERIENCE of academic Profesional Marine Materials and Construction .
Please contact me for a detailed review of this proposal
      regards, Norman Cook 1 401 218 5042 or Email at njsea7@gmail.com

Great video. Here in America we have community colleges. They are mostly two year programs, but they also have classes for electrical, plumbing, welding etc. Some of those classes are a class a week for five wks. They are geared for people who want a basic understanding and not a profession in it. Over the last ten years I've heard guys with sailing channels who came to the USA to do these short classes. How to work on air conditioning is even a short class at many community colleges. I'm sure other countries have these too. Look into it. They are easy on the pocket book as well.

Thanks so much for the comment. That's an amazing suggestion and I will definitely do the research on that one. I know once I get my head into things it will all make sense and also knowing myself know that I work best when following a structure. Thanks so much for the support and once again a great suggestion.

Dont forget to look at the Barefoot doctors build and Pete AKA plucky and his electric challenge trophy cat build in Vietnam.
The other modern cat thats worth looking over is the Windelo's... Not Al but definately forward thinking design and materials .. as the hull is built from Basalt fiber and recycled PET plastic ... Plastic drinks bottles.

Thanks so much for the reply and support. Yip I've reached out to both Portofino ( Barefoot Doctors) and Plucky's builders (Odisea Yachts) already. I've not looked at the Windelo but will check it out later today. Thanks again for the comment and support.

Clint: at the end of your video you rostered some of the considerations for example "what Toilets" but in that list the 1st consideration should have been "SAFETY".....let me help you structure the order of design

Thanks so much for your reply and completely agree with you. Having gone down the rabbit hole of David's designs before going to see him I know that the way he designs boats are with a safety first mentality. Even when chatting with him when I was over there, just one example, he is not a fan of the "flush" sliding doors opening up aft due to the potential risks of water entering the saloon, so it's great to know that this is front of mind for him. Thanks so much again for the comment and support

The light ship weight of a Mumby is 6.1 tones.

@@sailing.destiny A performance catamaran means light weight, skinny hulls, high bridge deck clearance and center boards. The Mumby is by far the best catamaran that's out there and is the cheapest price. I'm getting one.
