They can modify accordingly to your sailing grounds. The great thing about the early ones is that they can be customised. Cheers

Enjoyed this video, nice concepts with well thought out futuristic realities.

Excellent design, the aluminium hull is a great choice and makes for a long and safe lifespan, idd rather hit a piece of driftwood or ice with an aluminium hull then polyester!

You are making a very good point and I agree with you. Cheers

Thanks for the look. Can’t say I like it but it was almost space age to look at.

Love the boat. Personally, i dont care how sustainable it is. Everything else is important, safety? Can I go around the world in it? Can I live with it for 20 years? Thats real sustainable.

Hope all the electrical stuff is more reliable than trucks and cars.

    • @SailingOceanFox

Good job , nice modern minimalist styling . He does goes on about the handling, helm etc. This is not new. Catana, Nautitech. Garcia,
Ocean explorer etc all have twin stern helms, and low coach roofs.
The recycled aluminum is not significant because aluminum has always been recycled as a metal.
The electric drive is good. But prefer a hybrid, 4-7 hours is not good enough for long transits sailing the world.
The price is good considering the aluminium build. I think I would prefer the Garcia Explocat 52 as a luxury. Sturdy world explorer.
    Cheers from yyz

I guess this boat is just the standard marine grade aluminum in the market!? Lots of recycled aluminum goes into any "new" aluminum produced. Or else, which supplier of aluminum have a special production where more aluminum is recycled?

This is a very technical question that should be answered by @vaan let’s hope they look into this feed and reply.

@@SailingOceanFox They probably wont like to engage... However, if they do, they can go ahead and explain 100% recyclable too, and compare to say an Ovni or Garcia.

Will it be less costly than most cats?
It is very similar to the Excess 11 or have I missed something… and that is a very competitive price. And can be specified with electric motors.

    Thanks for the video...my observations/suggestions:
Front windows should swing out like the new HH44 (to allow massive airflow), this vessel does not look like it would have that airflow needed.
Why are they not offering a "liveaboard option" for the R4 ?, seems like there is enough room in the stern
Lastly, that picture of the stern, winches with all the lines all over the place...maybe cutouts in the desk below the winches to stow those lines (tripping hazard).
    Thanks

You do have two large hatches in the roof of the saloon, these can be installed either forward or backwards to aid airflow depending on your climate.
Igor from VAAN should have the answer about a liveaboard R4. Sounds like a great idea to me for northern climates.
Halyard bags will be provided on the pushkin Close to the winches.

      @@SailingOceanFox , thanks guys !
BTW, I'm assuming having the liveaboard option would give you more space on the roof area for the much needed solar :)

Whenever I look at a boat, I ask myself how safe I'd feel in rough seas on deck - and I wouldn't want to be on that cat. It's too exposed and none of the sails can be got to easily. The design might be sleek and modern, but practical?

    • @SailingOceanFox
      @SailingOceanFox  2 года назад +3

Interestingly there are handrails built in to the roof coaming, well hidden. Also, the boat we sailed was not quite finished, there are steps being added in the center of the windows to get better access to the roof deck

A good idea, but not at all comfortable, the cockpit is not closed, there is no comfortable seat for the skipper, it is desirable to mount the dinghy with a solar panel on it …….

Nice, recycled aluminum, you must of drank all that beer to design a boat like that, out-side helms, zero protection from wind and waves... and the auto-pilot quits...

Why you are only talking about bout instead of showing the bout? It's not interesting.
