The first episode I watched was your top 10 things not to do when on someone's boat, I have been hooked ever since. I love your attitudes, transparency and approach to life. Happy anniversary, this is literally one of the best dos and don'ts videos about catamarans I have ever seen. especially helpful for folks like me who are planning to purchase a cat in the near future and are bombarded with all the advertising and advocacy for the latest and the greatest tech which really breaks down to marketing vs common sense. love the channel, keep doing great videos like this to educate the cat community! First of thanks for sharing. You are my favorite sailing channel, by far. I am getting closer to getting my first Cat and have saved a bunch of videos with tips, but have not yet reviewed them all to create a bullet point list of what to and not to do. This is a great summary, and most of the items you highlighter were on my action list to address at time of purchase, so I could layout a budget to upgrade or repair over the 1st year as I get my sea legs. Fortunatley I live in Florida so access to some of the best parts, provides and services is fairly easy. BTW, your coffee is GREAT!

I've been doing a lot of homework on boats, vacillating between mono hulls and Cats, price vs. Space.
Finally after reading "Catamarans" by Gregor Tarjan, have settled on a cat. I will be buying one.

Hi, and congratulations for your anniversary. Regarding the Code 0 and the Parasailor question I have both my Lagoon 400 S2. When you referred your troubles on furling the code 0, I noticed in the footage that the hallyard was not tensioned enough. I have the same problem if I try to furl the code 0 without tensioning very hardly the hallyard. The anti-torsion rope that is on the sail must be fully tensioned to work. Sometimes it is good to slacken it a bit when sailing but we always have to fully tension it again prior to furling. Fair winds!

I concur with about all of this. Our noise generator really pumps the amps when the wind is 20+ knots. So thats about 14 days a year, because gentlemen do not sail to windward.
Wife and I are about to take lessons and will, most likely, buy one and get away for a while. Thank you for the inspiration and insight.

You have provided a LOT of great information in this episode and others. IMO, one of the best, however, was from one of your uncles, in another episode, who pointed out that advancing age will direct you towards a motor yacht. How true!!! Your no BS approach is appreciated.
Uncle Tom? Yes, wise man. And he's right, most all of us end up with a motorboat eventually....if we are lucky. Maybe ours will be electric!

Congrats guys! Love the suggestions. I completely agree with you on the wind generator. Amazingly loud and for me, the output was way below the panels. The fun part about all of these life lessons is if you could go back in time and do it differently, would you. You would have less money, or none at all, and probably not as many, uhhh.... Should we say... precious memories...
LOL. You are right. Can never go back. We typically don't belabor the mistakes, but thought we might save someone out there a little pain or money.
