yeah that spot is is my favorite! the first two days I camped there it was fog and rain. Finally cleared up the last day I was there and I was able to get the drone up.
I wish I would have had time to make that run this go around. I did it a few years ago and really liked it. If memory serves me right there is a small spot right after you make the turn onto the trail from Stone gap.
it is a good one! You can do the run from the beginning of Union Springs, Stone Gap, and down flagpole knob in a day. I would recommend doing an overnight on Meadow knob though. That is a great campsite. The trailer could probably get to there from the flagpole knob.
@@OverlandCalling I am going to be planning my 2025 in September. I may have to add this area to the list. Tough choice, I want to do the Pony Express trail next year. So I have to figure out how I will do both. This is very tempting.
@@mtnmnchronicles I have a whole series of Virginia trails coming out to entice you. Still going through to edit from my month long trip in the George Washington and Jefferson National forest.
7:48 I will definitely never forget this view when I wake up and see it

This drone has amazing clarity what's its name
@@oldstory-sz4qc it is a DJI Mini 3. I am still really new to using it. I have only used it a handful of times, but it is surprisingly easy to use.

Thanks fantastic
@@oldstory-sz4qc much apreciated! If you are planning to run the trail and have any questions ask away!
That trail to the right before Flagpole Knob takes you down to Switzer Lake. There are some nice campsites down there along some creeks.

Aww man this made me realize I need to get back to Flagpole.
It was one heck of a fun trip. Super scenic run and some good wheeling!
We stayed at the site where there was some wood left behind. It's a really nice site.
Nice! That is a nice spot!
I need to go east soon. This looks like an amazing trail to explore.
