    I have done a bit of towing on hilly roads up to my 15k service and got my mechanic to check the trans fluid, and he said it was like new. The temp's had got a bit high, but nowhere near the " danger zone " of the gauge. For peace of mind, I think I will get one, and get it fitted......cbf doing it myself without a hoist......too old to be crawling around on the concrete......
    I think the heat-proof sleeving like spark plug boots would be a lot better than the convoluted split plastic stuff......obviously a bit more expensive, but far better suited to the job of protecting the rubber hose, or maybe I'll go nuts with some braided speedflow hose......
    Going to watch the other vid now...
    Cheers
    Daz

      Heat-proof sleeve is a good idea. Have to keep me posted what you end up doing 👍

    Good Vid guys, on the hoses that run to the transmission, what locations did you cable tie them and what to ?
    Our Next Gen Ranger certainly had issues with heat sink conditions at slow speed towing our 3.5T caravan, hoping the trans cooler helps now.

      Hi mate. Sorry missed this. Currently on a trip up north. I can’t actually remember where we cable tied - not sure if there’s a bit in the vid that shows that. We likely just picked up a nearly metal support.
      Yeah I’m sure you’ll find the cooler will help a lot. You could also do the alloy pan too to maximise the cooling ability. I’ve been considering that as a future addition

      @@Perth4WDandCamping thanks for getting back to me, unfortunately it’s not shown in your vid. Had Wholesale do the installation but for some reason the rear hoses that come from the transmission are cable tied to the fuel tube bundle, which is not good. Had to reroute the front camera cable & washer hose back to original location also. Would be good to still see the location that you used.

    Does an aftermarket trans cooler affect warranty at all? Assuming if it failed and was the cause of a transmission failure, you'd be out thousands?

    • @Perth4WDandCamping
      @Perth4WDandCamping  2 месяца назад

      @@jayblack4690 g’day Jay. Certainly can’t give you warranty advice, however can give you my personal view which is that generally any aftermarket mod on a vehicle can impact warranty for the part replaced. For example if you lifted a vehicle with new springs and you have a CV joint failure, a manufacturer could argue that the failure was due to the lift putting extra strain on the CV and deciding to not cover it under warranty.
      In the case of a trans failure and you’re running a cooler, Ford would still need to prove that the cooler has resulted in the failure of the transmission.
      It’s a tricky one when warranty is involved.
      Probably the best advice I can give you in respect to any mod is weigh up all the pros and cons for your personal situation. How long are you keeping the car? What are you mainly using it for?
      I do however find it interesting that my previous vehicle (Mitsubishi Pajero Sport) came stock with a generous Trans Cooler and despite its smaller engine size I don’t recall hearing of issues about its transmission and it’s a vehicle commonly used to tow.

    hello guys amazing video I just wanted to know if I installed Baja Design Onx6+ 30 inch behind the grill would have enough space after the Transmission Cooler Installed + would cause and heating issues for Trans cooler

      I don’t think you’d be able to fit both to be honest. Perhaps there’s other lighting options you can explore if you wanted to proceed with the cooler which are located in another area. You really don’t want anything in front of the cooler.

      @@Perth4WDandCamping I was thinking about downgrading to two Onx6 10 inch but I guess it would be the same cause the depth behind the light is a bit

      @Perth4WDandCamping  6 месяцев назад

      @MA10Station yeah depth is your issue. I had to relocate my winch controller to the passenger side when installing this to make room. Having a bullbar helps because you can run your lights etc, but I appreciate not everyone has this option. Something like this could be an option for you too www.led-colight.com/products/colight-4inch-rob2-pro-series-yellow-diffused-ditch-lightsset-2pcs
