    As a scientist, with background in molecular medicine, drug development and pharmacology. I can promise anyone with HIV, should stay positive. With or without cure currently, the possibility of dying for aids has gone down significantly. A cure is just around. 3 decades ago, could you imagine the number of people who died of gonorrhea? Who dies from gonorrhea now? How many even treat this at home without going to the hospital.

    • @harvey1965
      @harvey1965 11 месяцев назад +7

      Why have you stopped taking your ARV treatment? Without it you immune will become increasingly compromised, damaged and at some point you become ill, when (not if) that happens you might be very, very lucky and restart your ARV's and recover - however if you leave for too long you may succumb to one (or more) of many opportunistic infections. You may be offered 'salvage therapy' if you wait too long, as happened to very dear friend of mine in 2007 who, like you, went off his ARV's. He was given salvage therapy. It was extremely painful and wholly ineffective. He died. And he died horribly in extreme agony. And in 2007 he didn't need to die - he just chose to stop his ARV therapy. PLEASE reconsider your choice - as without ARV's - you will develop AIDS.

    • @harvey1965
      @harvey1965 11 месяцев назад +3

      Hi ... I'm an Australian who's positive. To answer your simply, I would suggest that culturally Australia and the US are very different animals. First up, we have Universal Healthcare - which is Federally run system, delivered by each different state government. Politically our 'Medicare' system is very popular and has been in existence since 1984. Australia also historically has been very very good at running health programs. As an example the response to AIDS in the 1980's was (at the time) the most successful public health program run by any government. The federal government of the day fully financed a powerful response to the AIDS pandemic and empowered the primary stake holders - the Gay Community to organise the on the ground programs in response to the AIDS (at the same time in the US our gay brothers & sister were fighting the Reagan Administration who had very little care for the 'Gay disease). Thus from our collective previous experiences with pandemics we were primed to face CoVid. Politically, Australia is not in any way as polarised as the US. (We still have a few extreme whack jobs - though they are small in number). Regarding CoVid, our (at the time) conservative federal government joined forces with our 6 state & 2 territory governments and ran combined cabinet which oversaw the nation's response to CoVid. There were individual differences, though generally speaking we worked as one collective group. Vaccine uptake was broad and when lockdowns & restrictions were instituted the majority of us were compliant (there were exceptions - which were reported in the most dishonest & outrageous fashion by Fox in the US).
      So, in overly simplistic terms, as nation we have 'freely' accessible healthcare and hospital care, we're good at public health campaigns and we do not have an extremely polarised political environment as the US currently does, and the majority of us comply with the health advice that was formulated to limit the spread of CoVid. Also CoVid medications, testing, hospital care & the later self RAT tests were all free. In a sense, we're very similar countries superficially - culturally we're completely different. Hope that helps answer your question.
