I have good success using cloth first aid tape. Works great and doesn't slip. It's also a good idea to keep a roll of it in your first aid kit on your boat.
Sound advice, much appreciated, is that reel the Legalis? i just treated myself to the Daiwa legalis LT size 1000 as i do ultralight spinning for wild browns over here in Scotland my rod is only 5ft 6 so its a small set up but i love it but im stuck on which kind of line i should use, i fish on a budget so i cant really afford expensive braid although last year i tried Daiwa J braid 8lb's on a size 2000 reel and just tied the braid straight onto my small spinners and rapala/salmo lures, i would really appreciate some advice i didnt like the J braid as it was so fine and almost like sewing thread and when it got wet i had all sorts of problems also as i use a 5ft 6 rod im not sure id be able to use a leader if i got braided line but then again im not sure i use mini clips as i dont fancy tying leaders on all day if i need to change lures, as i said any advice would be much appreciated, another youtuber advised me to try Berkley Trilene Sensation which from what i can see isnt too expensive, i just need a good line that is good at casting small spinners/lures and which the fish will not be able to see so good, thanks in advance, take care n take it easy Tight lines ❤🎣✌💙👍 from Scotland 🙋♂️ p.s excuse the rant lol
Braid is very forgiving of line twist, but I have run into situations where a lot of twist will start to make the braid do bad things. It doesn't get as bad as mono or flouro but I feel one should still do what they can to avoid filling a reel with twisted line .
Great video as usual! Braid to the reel is easy but nothing beats a fresh spooled spool from bass pro shops! Now braid to fluro or mono leader is a pain in the ace
I had ace pain once but the doctor gave me a cream and cleared it right up! No, seriously, the "Double Uni" or "Uni to Uni" knot is a great way to attach a leader and keeps your expensive braid from getting beaten up first few feet.
@@MrBassTV In the Netherlands Daiwa has been sold out. Only Shimano catana and Shimano Sahara are available. So it will be a Shimano Sahara with rear drag.
pro tip... Don't use electrical tape if you fish saltwater. The saltwater will get under the electrical tape and eventually corrode the spool (even if it's anodized) and because it's not permeable, the saltwater wont dry. Use sports wrap instead. It's mesh, grips the braid just fine and allows water to evaporate.
Grand dad used thin moleskin. It's used for athletics, and various other "medical " reasons .. however, it's made to be water "proof" /resistant. And it's adhesive doesn't leave the nasty greasy stuff from electrical tape. Although, I here there is a water "proof"/resistant electrical tape these days.
It may be your knot. Also make sure it's wound the correct direction. If the tape still won't work for you, then tie on a mono backer just enough to cover the spool. Then tie on your braid to that and you won't have a problem.
@@MrBassTV Tried a uni knot instead of an overhand knot and made sure it was spooling in the right direction. Got it on there without any issues. Thank you very much!!
This is the exact issue I was having! My braid slips on my reel. You are the man. Thanks for the video.
Thanks. Glad it helped

👍👍👍
(Hi, do we apply pressure and stretch the Electrical tape while putting/encircling on the spool)? Thanks.....
You don’t really need to stretch the tape. Just wrap it around as evenly as you can and that should be good enough,
@@MrBassTV Thank you so much.......👍
Awesome video 💯🎣

Dont overthink it bro. Braid and trout dont mix. 4 pound mono all day.
Thank you, for a newby this was enormously helpful
You are so welcome! Glad it helped.

Glad you liked it!

Double uni knot bro.
Are there any good rear drag spinning reels under 100 bucks. I would like to try some Pike perch with my vertical rod on the boat.
Daiwa has a ton of different models under $100

Great info. Thanks!
And can you use a bigger cord?
I couldn't really see that one
Lol! I know it's crazy, but so many video use tiny clear line and people can't see it.
That heavy line was for power fishing in the cabbage.

Why wouldn't plumbers tape work? No residue.
It just might. I’ve never tried it. Thanks
I tried electrical tape and the braid still slips. What am I doing wrong?

Great
Not sure, but if the tape doesn’t work, then start with a few wraps of mono. Then attach the braid to the mono. Its a pain, but the mono will hold.
Love the vids
Thanks Jesse! I appreciate it.
Is braid the best for a spinning reel when I throw mine the line just unspools itself
Most of the time I prefer braid on a spinning reel. I usually get much more line twist with fluorocarbon or mono than I do with braid.
@@MrBassTV ok I will try braid thanks
Wow.good video😍
Thank you!
Use teflon
use silicone tape ho glue work by pressure
You lost me at "braid doesn't get line twist". True- braid has no memory...but it can DEFINITELY get line twist.
Love the hats back there!! MAGA
