There are plenty of banjo players playing incredible, like this, and they are not sharing their knowledge. Not only are you awesome at what you are doing but you have the kind heart and patience to carefully share some of your expertise. I think you are an amazing musician, an excellent person and just wanted to express how deeply grateful I am for what you are doing. Thank you!

Great video Bennett! Love that you include talking through your thought process, that takes your teaching meaningfully beyond what most instructors offer!

Good stuff Bennett! I play a Melodic version now and yours is different...so now I have something else to play, a little mix and match. :)

Heck, yeah, this squashes the version I was working on. There's a lot of great ideas to pick up and play off of. Thanks Bennett. I love the thought process explanation. Banjo teacher of the year!

Nice! Could you do a lesson on Jim Thompson's Horse by Noam at some point?

Why don't you pick the Scruggs style slow in these

You have some good stuff here. but, I have one observation that drives me nuts and it's about your right hand technique. not saying it's right or wrong. however, I am wondering why you move your whole hand up and down when you pick almost every note? It seems you barely if at all move your fingers or your thumb. Do you have a condition we don't know about? Are you not aware you do this? I wondering because if I were a beginner or an intermediate student I would think the way you are teaching is the proper right hand technique. I'm a 40+ year picker and 30 year Banjo teacher.

T Johnston I've been trying to play WITH more hand movement personally. it helps me play with better accuracy and tone. Maybe everyone is different in this regard. I was very careful about keeping my hand still when I first learned but decided to try with more movement after seeing a pro doing it that way. I have not regretted changing.

J Jackson Fair enough. I'll just keep covering up your hand and still enjoy your picking.
