You go, Dominica, tell Andre Johnny's heart is full of boundless love and is ready to forgive her and take her back. Everyone deserves a second chance. Loved the pick, guys 👍
Yeah, this song is about a girl who made a mistake, and he is trying to ask her if she 1) learned her lesson, 2) is really sorry and 3) if she plans on staying. As others have said, loving someone includes forgiveness, even when it hurts. He was doing the right thing though by asking her what her intentions were. That was to protect himself.
Oh my. I'd love you to react to Gary Pucket and the Union Gap, "Young Girl" "This Girl is a Woman now" and "Woman, Woman"...in that order back to back. It will take you through a romance that never should have happened.
I was two years old when this song was released. My mom told me when I was older that this was a favorite of hers at the time, encouraging her as she and my dad worked together to get out of poverty.
Every time I drop back in to see and listen to you guys, you are playing a Johnny Rivers hit . I may have missed them ,but my two favorite songs by him are "Look to Your Soul " and "What's the Difference "......PLEASE react to these GEMS....thank you !
The background singers were the male character in the song, thinking these things in his mind or wishing to hear them from his girlfriend who had gone astray. I love the honest, heartfelt reactions of both of you. You should react to Summer Rain next by Johnny Rivers.
I really like how you two get into the music, but also the lyrics meaning. I would love to see you react to Billy Joel doing his song, “And So It Goes “. Beautiful music, simple, but deep in meaning. 😁👍
The old saying...Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me! That's pretty wise. I'm 61 and never have agreed with messing around with people's hearts though have known many people who thrive on that drama time and time again, I just never understood it. Thank you both for the song and as usual your thoughtful insights!❤
Brother we truly feel your pain and get why you see it as truly painful...... Yalls response makes your reaction that much better, thank you both, I truly appreciate both of you 🤗🤗
I wish the voices in my head were melodic background singers. ( In brackets ) Love is blind Andre, or, at least near sighted. Thank you two for the fun reaction.
Song writers are like authors of novels. Some are fiction, non fiction, biographies, mysteries etc.. We really don’t know what genre the song is unless the writer tells us. That’s one reason I like music so much.
🇬🇧 I'm 60 yo, and I've never heard this song before! I do love it though ❤🎼 Music from the 60s 70s and 80s are my favourite decades. Poor Andrei, he's so sensitive.
Aww memory lane. Love this song. It's true she made a serious mistake in this story, but it seems to be a story of forgiveness, and hopefully of her learning a lesson. ❤😊
The bracketed lyrics signifies background chorus is singing without the lead singer, communicating his internal/unspoken thoughts. . . . Congrats on your channel.
I just recently Started watching your reaction videos and really enjoy them! He really loves her and should give her a second chance. But, there is an old adage he should go by, “Fool me once….shame on you, fool me twice…shame on ME!” Keep up the great reactions!😁😉👍
This is my favourite Johnny Rivers song. Thanks for covering it. I was 8 years old when this came out in 1966 and the kids in my family liked it a lot. It is a marvel of singing, production and musicianship. Sorry the first part of the story upset you Andrei. But like a book or a movie, a song must be heard to the end before you can render a verdict on it. And we have to make room for forgiveness in our hearts and lives or it will turn into a very bitter experience. We don't want to allow one mistake, even a big one, to rob us of what may be a very big blessing like a good wife. 💖💖💖
This is Johnny Rivers best song, and it did have a good outcome despite Andre’s very obvious consternation with “him” taking “her” back. Andre, Dominica is a gem of a human being, both of you are such a great “fit”.
I think Dominika’s interpretation was correct. His girlfriend was probably young and learning about relationships and hopefully after rejection by the rich guy knows that money doesn’t guarantee good character. She couldn’t kiss him yet because she felt she wasn’t worthy of his love but he’s telling her that she still is. Also the female singers I think are what he’s thinking in his head. This is my positive interpretation of the lyrics.
Actually, she wanted to kiss him now and make up for her mistake but Johnny is cautious about it initially. "How can you tell me how much you miss me, when the last time I saw you, you wouldn't even kiss me?" That is my take on it. But I could be wrong. It has always been my favourite from Johnny Rivers.
Right on Andre! LOL He is a sucker for trusting her. Trust is important. Love is blind! "Smoke gets in your eyes!" (there is a song Andre you would like) Great song though. More directed to the ladies I think. LOL
Words in parenthesis/brackets simply denotes words sung by someone other than the main singer, such as "back-up singers. For example, the main singer will a sing a line followed by back-up singers or duet partner singing "La la la" it will be written as ... I feel so happy! (La la la) In this song, even though the words in parenthesis are words that the male character in the song would be saying, is sung by female voices for a more melodic effect. Because Johnny Rivers himself is not singing those words they are placed in parenthesis. I and a lot of other guys have found out too late that we were nothing more than a "temporary back-up plan" until someone better came along". That is why so many male commenters are SO envious of Andrei for finding someone like Dominika, who knows what true love and being faithful is.
It's interesting when a song hits a nerve and we're triggered emotionally, for whatever reason. The fear of losing the attentions and affections of the one you love is a very real awareness. For some of us, we have lost in love and we have to deal with it as best we can. The possibility of losing one's love is also a challenging thing because it brings out insecurities we have about ourselves in those relationships. Nobody is perfect. I think this song encapsulates the very real experiences we go through in our love lives and I can appreciate how the two of you reacted so differently. Music is a healer, but also a revealer. We must be aware of how our egos can be played with, toying with our true spirits. Bless you both and thank you. : )
Nice back and forth between you two. It is a beautiful song but understandably makes you irritated with the girl. Always remember that forgiveness does not make you forget but should allow you to putt it behind you. Baby, I Need Your Lovin' is a must. A good song to do would be Undertow by Genesis.
Let's get this couple to introduce us to the music they listened to in their "formative years". And then we, the uniformed audience, can provide OUR REACTIONS. This would be so much more interesting and NEW, rather than listening to the comments they have on music mostly alien to them. How many more reactions to we have to muddle through from teenagers who never heard the Beatles, or people raised in foreign lands about Bobby Darin/Joe Cocker/The Band/Cat Stevens/Simon & Garfunkel, etc. Start a new trend for heaven's sake.
You could call her leaving unacceptable and never take her back and both be miserable...or you could forgive her and have a chance for happiness with the girl you love. There is some risk involved either way.
Hello Adre and Dominica . . . . i hope one day you will listen to "Unbreakable Heart" by Carlene Carter . . . . . . . wishing you the very best !!!!!!!!!! . . . . . . . Danny in Mississippi
Oh Andre, cheer up, it's just a song. I doubt that after half a dozen hits Johnny Rivers was writing from personal experience about being on the poor side of town. I'm also not sure what town he might be talking about. Does Los Angeles actually have a poor side? I think there's a rich side, and then an almost rich side, and then a middle class side and then a working class side, and maybe a poor-for-LA-side. (That's just a guess, I don't know if Johnny Rivers actually lived in LA, but you get my point.)
Sound like they were young and people do make mistakes while they are learning The Facts of Life you have to give her another chance or you could be missing out on the best and most important person in your life
She left him for a rich guy. The rich guy dumped her. Why? If she was special - honest, sincere, attentive, giving - then that rich guy would not have dumped her. Andrei is absolutely correct. This is a perfect example of the "Evil Woman" that Jeff Lynne and his Electric Light Orchestra band told us about in their hit song! Having been burned in this same way, I am speaking from experience!
She wouldn't have come back to Johnny if that rich guy hadn't kicked her to the curb. That's desperation, not love. Now try listening to Johnny's "Mountain of Love."
I don't think she's a gold digger but just trying to get the hell out of that town. The other guy swept her away but it wasn't permanent. I am not sure she is back to the X but just back home. If they do get back together she's always going to have that yearning to for the greener side of life and that she settled.
Cmon, you guys are too old , to have this over reaction to lyrics…That’s something for this new generation, that they do about everything. I worry, that you worry too much about the lyrics, instead of enjoying what is an incredibly beautiful song.
@@MerchantOfAlba Yes , I can see that. I just see a lot of youngsters rip great songs because of the message. I’m 70, so grew up with the greatest music, and honestly back then we didn’t always even pay attention to the story, even though we knew the words of the songs by heart. Just enjoyed the pure music and singing talents of the world’s best generation of music. Great reaction. Rivers is singing to his returning former girlfriend.”Summer Rain” was another big hit for Rivers. Thank you for presenting this song.
Johnny Rivers, Baby I Need Your Lovin
Calm down, Andre and just enjoy this beautiful song. Now do Summer Rain because it's much more up your alley 😆
I think Andre's got a thing about Golddiggers. Me Too.
Every time I drop back in to see and listen to you guys, you are playing a Johnny Rivers hit . I may have missed them ,but my two favorite songs by him are "Look to Your Soul " and "What's the Difference "......PLEASE react to these GEMS....thank you !

You two are so much fun to watch. ❤
I agree with this statement.
You two are a riot. Haha It was so fun watching your reaction to this song. And lyrics aside, I've always loved it.
Oh that guitar hook! Gotta love it.

You two are great, I laughed all the way through the reaction.
What a great exchange, you two. That was awesome! 😁
Like #8. This one is classic Johnny Rivers. He had a #1 hit with this song. I'm guessing the "true love" theme appealed to the ladies.

Andre, Andre, Andre, the heart wants what the heart wants. ❤ And forgiveness is easy and willing when in love.
Andrei is cracking me up here. The girl from the song has him pretty upset.

Secret agent Man is another one of his hits
Beautiful song, the production is very lush.
Country singers kept asking to record his songs so he decided to record an album with him and different country singers
Sometimes a second chance does work out. You two are adorable!
thanks for listening to this beautiful song. great reaction
I agree with Andre. Don't take her back!🙂

🇬🇧 For a happy ending try "Tie A Yellow Ribbon (Round The Old Oak Tree)" by Tony Orlando & Dawn. ❤🎼🎶👍
I agree with Andrei, she blew her chance with the guy. He'll always wonder when she will find someone else. Great reaction.
You could call her leaving unacceptable and never take her back and both be miserable...or you could forgive her and have a chance for happiness with the girl you love.

I have to agree with Andre. She only came back because the guy sent her walking. I can’t forgive that.
Don't ever cross this guy
She sold out her principles for Chad Thunderstroke, and he used her up and threw her away. Now she's crawling back to her boyfriend.
Sorry I'm with Andre she left him for a rich guy then after he was done with her she came back........oh is to say she won't do it again
the backup blossom singers were every bit as good as johnny rivers. i wonder what happened to them. prob didn't have good song writers.
