- Despite the wind and rain Snowdonia always delivers on a really fun adventure! Join me as I hike to one of the more unique spots I've camped, an island in the middle of a lake, in the mountains. Such a beautiful spot! The weather was a bit of a mess on this one so unfortunately I wasn't able to get the drone out but hopefully I've captures just how beautiful this spot is. For dinner I made a really tasty coconut salmon curry and enjoyed the rest of the evening listening to the rain and wind. Really loving the extra space of the Nammatj when the conditions are not ideal and your stuck in the tent! Hope you enjoy watching the trip. If you have any questions please feel free to leave a comment down below!

i absolutely love watching non-natives adjusting to uk weather conditions. Its not crazy cold, its not crazy hot but my god does uk weather get to your bones. Great videos love the cooking and watching you adjust to things us brits take for granted.
👍😀 it’s definitely been an adjustment. I do enjoy not having the extremely hot summers I use to have back in the states. Although, I miss the colder winters with less rain and more snow. Overall I’ve absolutely loved living here and getting to explore new landscapes! Appreciate you taking the time to comment. ATB
I was recommended your channel by one of my viewers. So pleased they sent me this way. It’s great to see effort put into the production. Great to see areas of the country I’m unable to get to as much as I’d like and GREAT to see you properly cooking in the outdoors.
Thanks and welcome to the channel! As someone who likes to cook I do enjoy making a proper meal while on a camp 😀. I see you like to cook as well! I look forward to watching your videos. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Have a great weekend!
What an awesome location, and as always, the filming, the editing and THE FOOD looks brilliant.
Thanks man. I see you’ve been enjoying the Soulo in the Lakes! Have a great weekend!
Hi. BEAUTIFUL. SCENERIES. LANDSCAPE. AWESOME. CAMPING.
😀👍 Thanks!
What a great camp and stunning food as always !
Cheers Graham
Thanks Graham. Have a great weekend!
I can only imagine how long it took you to dry out and warm up. Bless your heart!
I was warm while hiking. I did have a 4 hr drive back home with wet feet though, which wasn’t ideal. I should have had additional shoes in the car but I didn’t. All part of the experience though! Appreciate you taking the time to comment!
What an awesome place for a tent pitch! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thanks for watching! It was really such a cool place. I’ve got to go back when it’s warmer and maybe take a dip in the Lynn. I really want to get it on video with the drone! Have a great weekend!
I love this. Great spot. Great content. I appreciate what you do.
Thanks! This was a really unique spot. I’m going to try and come back in better weather. Appreciate you taking the time to comment! ATB
Great video! That was some workout getting up there, no need for a gym! Totally agree about mess, AND they chopped that tree up, it looked live to me
Thanks! Definitely a bit of a scramble getting up there but a really neat area to spend the night. Shame about the tree. There were definitely branches removed from the live tree as well which I just don’t understand. Nobody would come out here without a stove to cook or boil water so just completely unnecessary. Appreciate the comment!
Beautiful camp!
Thanks Bob!
Stunning location thanks for sharing
It really is! Thanks for watching!
Loved the forethought that went into camping on an island in the rain ;)
It had been raining the entire week leading up to this camp. When I was heading to the island, I figured the little land bridge might not be there when I arrived. So yeah I was a bit surprised I could walk over to the island that evening but overnight the water levels decided to rise 🤣. Thanks for taking the time to comment!
Excellent location, and yet another great meal cooked 👌🏼
Definitely a cool spot! I really enjoy that curry. Highly recommend! Thanks for watching 😀
Fantastic video mate what an amazing pitch 👍
Thanks Paul 👍 Definitely a cool spot!
Camping sounds great but the reality is a cross between sleep deprivation & torture. I’m glad you enjoyed it! 👍✌️
🤣 I can’t argue with the sleep deprivation part 👍. However, on a calm night I sleep like a baby! What you get is what you get and it’s all a part of the experience. Appreciate you taking the time to comment. ATB
awesome - well done !
Thanks!
Another great video/adventure! Top tip: Buy a pair of Crocs! They're very lightweight, they float and best of all, great slippers to put on when you need to get out the tent in the middle of the night when duty calls!! Just hang them from a carabiner from your backpack. No waterlogged boots ever again!
Thanks Tom! That is a good idea. I use to bring a pair a light sandals but for whatever reason stopped. If I know I’m going to be crossing any water I definitely should. ATB
Great camp....
Thanks!
Very cool campspot and great video! The Nammatj is a really great tent, I sure do love mine! Have a great week😀
Thanks man! Yeah, it’s a phenomenal tent. Easy to pitch, fantastic in the wind and great interior space. You have the fancy GT one with that huge awesome vestibule. I can’t imagine how big that must feel! Have a great weekend buddy!
@@GoingSoloOutdoorsthanks! yeah the big vestibule is so awesome!
Great video, your a trooper in those conditions. Scenery was great though. Thanks.
Snowdonia is a beautiful place! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
Fabulous video. Thanks for taking the time to film it. And that salmon curry!! Haute cuisine in a tent!! Love it. You should do a series of videos solely on cooking. Little tip for you. Someone has already mentioned walking poles. They, for me at least, are invaluable for stream crossings, balance etc. My tip is to take your dry socks off before crossing and put them back on once you have tipped the water out of your boots and dried the boots as well as you can. Cheers. Looking forward to next one!!
Thanks for taking the time to watch! At this point I’ve only done cooking videos as shorts on the channel but if you think people would like to see a longer 5 to 10 minute cooking video, I would be down for that! I usually try to get out at least once a week to cook a meal in the woods. I’m definitely pro hiking poles! My carbon fiber tripod is pretty beefy so I just use that as a trekking pole but when I’m not filming, I definitely take a trekking pole when in the mountains or on a big hike. Extremely useful and definitely nice for safety to have when crossing rivers or hiking through the snow! That’s a fantastic tip about taking off the socks. I actually had dry socks in my bag. I was just too lazy to put them on after 🤣. Really appreciate the comment. Have a great weekend!
Awesome adventure, just needed a foot of snow
Thanks! Yeah I would have much preferred the snow to the rain 👍.
Good vid. Interesting, beautiful location. Very wet, Surprised the water rose so much. Love the Hilleberg Next time
Thanks! I was surprised it rose as much as it did as well. The Nammatj has been such a great tent in foul weather. Appreciate the comment!
Wow what an amazing spot mate. I must go there one day. Gutting that water rose so much. 🙈😆 Great video as always.
I definitely wasn’t thrilled to start the hike back down the mountain with wet, cold feet! Definitely a spot you should visit though. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
Great video. I love this little island. Inthink id have had to cross the water bare foot then put dry socks and boots on. Cant bear wet socks! Curry looks so good :):)
Thanks! Thats definitely a good option. I just didn’t want to risk cutting my foot on a rock. But dry feet would have been nice! Appreciate you taking the time to comment!
Speaking about my comment on your Instagram profile, it was worth waiting for to watch. Thanks for sharing your experience with us all.
Happy you liked it! It was a really fun trip. Thanks for watching and I really appreciate the support. Have a great weekend!
Great, cheers 👍
Thanks Dave. Have a great weekend!
Thanks for this. Love your video and cinematography. What a great location too. I also have the Nammatj 2 and it’s an unbeatable space for winter camping. Atb and look forward to more content. Subbed.
Thanks William, I really appreciate the support! I‘ve only had the Nammatj for a few months but I’m absolutely loving it so far!
@@GoingSoloOutdoors it’s a cracking bit of kit. Had me and a mate in it on green gable and was surprisingly spacious for the both of us. However, I much prefer the huge space all to myself.
Another excellent video, hope you managed to dry your feet off when you got to the car (and it was still there !) looking forward to the next camp. Thanks again.
I was able to change my socks back at the car. I always get a bit nervous when parking on the side of the road somewhere new, especially with no signs. But the car was indeed still there 😀🙌! Thanks for watching!
Your videos contain many potential points but I would like to here just select the two of immediate personal interest to me if I may. Pretty geographically rich little spot - lovely to particapate in. And so yes others have camped there and yes its sad they have left a stone fireplace. Its sad i totally agree. When I see this sort of scarring now I recall watching a uk climber on utube few mths back. In preparation for a windy cold night at some height he spent 10min collecting rocks at distance to place on his 6 or 8 guyline points. And in the morning magic. He didn't just do the usual LNT he spent 10 to 15min carrying those damn rocks back dispersing them at distance. Every time now when I see paper plastic wrappers and orange peels etc piled up on Scottish routes I cast my mind back to that unknown guy and feel better. Thank you whoever you are. Respects thx for posting.
Thanks for the comment! It drives me crazy when I see things like that fire pit. If it was dry, I probably would’ve tried to scatter the ashes, but it was near impossible, soaked as it was. I definitely agree it’s not enough to just leave no trace but try to leave a place better than you found it! I try to pick up rubbish whenever I can also. Thanks for watching and again I really appreciate comment! ATB
Another great video which I’m watching backwards chronologically, since I’m relatively new to your channel. I love the addition to the previous stove that gives light it warms up the tent. And also wonder how you get your weather reports. Specially, if you don’t have cell connection, I’ll get mine through my Garmin in reach satellite communicator.
Primus gas lanterns are great in the winter! They can definitely heat up your tent 👍 and the warm glow is just really cozy. I usually take a Garmin in reach with me as well if I don’t have cell connection. I mainly use it to just let my wife know I’m ok.
Great video
Thank!
It took me a few minutes to work out where you were and I guessed correctly when you pointed out Crib Goch. I’ve been spending more time in Snowdonia recently and have been looking at walks I could do in the Snowdon Massif but without climbing Snowdon. Great campsite!
Thanks! It seems everyone hikes the other side of Crib Goch as the footpaths are much more established and you start at a bit higher elevation if you park at the large car park. There is very little parking on this side but I think this is a fantastic area to start a hike if you can get a spot along the road. I didn’t see anyone on the hike up and only one person on the hike down when I was nearly back to the road, which was really nice! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
Looking at the area on the map it does look like a good area to hike and scramble. When you drive up to Pen y pass the hills are very steep either side and probably put people off!
@@benvickery 👍 yeah you definitely start hiking at a lower elevation. I imagine the parking situation alone would turn people off. I didn’t bother with attaching the GoPro to my hat so you couldn’t really tell in the video but there is one section where I had to put away the camera that is a great scramble once you get to around 560m. Not so much fun with water streaming down it in the morning but definitely a neat spot if you like a scramble!
Great csmp location and really nice food
Thanks! This was a very unique location for a camp. I don’t often see little islands like this that you can access relatively easily. I’d like to go back at some point when the weather is a bit better 👍
@GoingSoloOutdoors yes be interesting to see for sure in dry weather . Many of your adventures' the weather is changeable shall we say 😄
Superb sharing as usual my great friend ❤️❤️❤️! Great love and respect from a solo mountain hiker friend from the Hindu Kush Mountains Lower Chitral District of Pakistan!
I always see your hiking short vids on RUclips. You hike in such beautiful places. I really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. ATB
What a cool spot! Really enjoyed the video, thank you 🙏. For ear plugs may I recommend ‘Quies’ a French wax product but available from Tesco and other pharmacies
Glad you enjoyed it 👍. Thanks a lot for the ear plug recommendation. I’ll check them out!
I didn't know Nardwuar did camping vids? Cool!
Joking aside these are great and the pacing of the videos are spot on. Glad I found this channel.
😆👍 Welcome to the channel. Appreciate you taking the time to comment!
I really like site. I lived, until last year, hard up against the High Atlas mountains in North Africa. Plenty of opportunities for wonderful camping here!
Thank you. I have yet to travel to North Africa but maybe one day I’ll make it there. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment! ATB
Just discovered your channel yesterday and binge watching your videos now 😎 I camped at this location towards the end of March, absolutely loved it ... but it was soggy 😂
Nice! It was definitely a bit soggy but such a neat spot! Really appreciate you watching through the older videos 🙏👍
Well, a little bit more rain and we could have named you Robinson Crusoe 😅 . Your tent bland well on the island , almost invisible from a distance. Your lucky to be able to cook in your tent , here in Québec, in the boreal forest , there would be quite an interest from many critters and ...black bear . I have many videos to look since I am new to the channel , so you will hear a lot from me 😂 , thanks for sharing
😆 yeah i didn’t expect such a rise in water levels. I really enjoy the sand color of this tent. It always seems to blend in very well in this environment regardless of the season! I do miss the biodiversity back in the states but it is kinda nice not having to worry about hanging a bear bag or carrying a canister anymore. And it’s definitely convenient being able to cook in the tent when the conditions are not great! Really appreciate you taking the time to go back and look at my older video 👍 ATB
Did this route myself to the same island. It was so wet we couldn’t camp at the top on the island as the water was too deep to get over to the island and the surrounding area around was too wet and boggy to set up a tent so we had to come back down. Mainly on our arse lol. Very dangerous and Very dicey. Good video. Thanks for sharing.
It’s a neat little island. I guess I got lucky there was an exposed path across when I arrived. A pretty spot but definitely not the easiest hike/scramble getting up there from that direction. Overall a pretty fun camp though. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! ATB
Very very nice
Thanks for watching 👍😀
Wow, that was a hairy climb. Slippery all the way with barely a break. I would guess that anybody that did not have your experience would not have a good time. It is a beautiful spot though.
It’s not too bad. Just need to take your time and never just place all your body weight on one foot. It’s a very pretty spot 👍. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
Great vid ! Thanks for sharing and showing the realities of wild camping 🏕️ 😄👏..
Thought I was familiar with most routes up Snowdon, but cannot figure out where that camp spot is? Can you please tell me where this is or at least which path it is close too?
Thanks
Richard
Thanks! It’s on the northern side of Crib Goch at Llyn Glas. I can’t find a name for the footpath I hiked down the mountain on but the original path I was going to take is called Llwybr y Llwynog. If you look NW of Crib Goch on a Topo map it should be easy to spot! Hope that helps.
@@GoingSoloOutdoors So the nearest main road is the A4086 and the nearest path is the miners track start point near Pen-y-pass?
Camped there a couple of times before that’s why I recognised when you posted a sneak peak in IG. And I had the same problem in the morning, the path under water…haha. I must explore the ranger path (or PenYPass) park path you mentioned.
Nice! Such a beautiful area. Next time I hike this area I’d like to follow the route I had originally mapped from the Pen Y Pass car Park. The hike is a bit longer but it’s more of a gradual increase in elevation as opposed to the shorter steep route I took on this camp. Thanks for watching! Hope you have a great weekend!
@@GoingSoloOutdoors I've some bad memories of the route you took (ruclips.net/video/1t3GUSCA6WM/видео.html). I will certainly try Pen Y Pass you mentioned this spring.
@@Prashant.Khapane 👍 I just watched your video. Very nice, I subscribed! We started in roughly the same place however you took a path a bit to the left of mine to head up towards Crib Goch. When I started the hike down the mountain, I actually mentioned potentially taking your route back back down. Nice to actually see what it looks like! The path I took branches to the right of Afon Genog and heads up towards the cliff with a stream coming down from Llyn Bach. I definitely think the original route I had planned from Pen Y Pass although longer would be easier as the path is very well established! ATB
for me , your best video, that island is perfect.
Thank you. It was definitely a very unique location 👍
Excellent video! New subscriber 👍👍
Thanks! Really appreciate the support!!
you inspire me bro🍻
👍😀🙏
So glad I found your channel! I’m so glad our great American friends and cousins are enjoying the UK country. Gonna binge watch your other vids! All the best 👍🇬🇧🇺🇸
I’ve been absolutely loving exploring the UK over the past three years 😀👍 I really appreciate the support! All the best
Is there any place where you live to hike in a forest? You seem to like rocky terrian. Can't make a nice fire without any wood. I saw one live tree on the island. You certainly know your stuff when backpacking but I wish you would do some forest camping. Thank you.😊
I grew up hiking and playing in the forest 😀. I still go on forest hikes a few times a week. I will often make short videos of those trips and post a lot of that content on Instagram 👍. I am due for a forest camp soon though!
Very tough man on slippery rocks, enjoyed watching, it very difficult to record on these conditions specially on poring rain. Again thank you. RAO
Yes I definitely remember how slippery the rocks were on this camp. I had to put the camera and tripod away a few times so I could use both hands to get up/down rocks. Definitely worth it though for that little island spot! Such a pretty place👍. Appreciate you taking the time to comment! ATB
Didn't. " Wildbear " camp there last year, thought she camped out on a tiny island as well Nice trip and camp
Yes I believe she did! It’s a really cool spot 👍 Thanks for watching
I've now watched several of your Adventures and I've very much enjoyed each one. You are probably going to think I'm 100% crazy, but on the first video I watched I thought you reminded me of some one, but I couldn't for the life of me think who it was. Then on watching the other videos along with this one I suddenly realised who it is, it's the actor Benedict Cumberbatch, I've just looked at some photos of him and there is definitely a resemblance. Right back to your videos they are really really good.
I really appreciate you watching all my videos! I have definitely heard the comparisons to Benedict Cumberbatch before. In fact many of my students have jokingly called me doctor strange over the years 😆. So yeah you’re not alone. Really glad you have liked the videos 👍 Your comments are always appreciated. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
A little late to your video ( was in hospitalfor 9 days with blood clots in lungs, not good). Anyway, awesome as usual. At least water didn't rise too much.🤣
That sounds terrible Tom. I hope you have a speedy recovery!
Enjoyed your video...tanx
👍 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Hope you have a great weekend!
👍
🙏👍😀
What about a collapsible hiking poles? Lovely location! Food looks very yummy!
Hiking poles are incredibly useful in this terrain. When I’m not filming a video I definitely bring at least one trekking pole. But while filming my carbon fiber tripod is pretty beefy so it’s usually sufficient. Thanks for taking the time to comment!
You camped on the highest nesting ground for Seagulls. In the morning, it's usually fulll of birds.
So I definitely won’t be camping here in the spring/summer. I suppose that would make sense considering it’s an island. Having grown up around seagulls I know they are partial to locations that are typically inaccessible. I will have to hike back to this area during the nesting season just to see that in the morning. I bet it’s pretty remarkable. Thanks for watching and letting me know! ATB
As someone else said earlier, great video, as usual. Very surprised at the increase in the small lake's water elevation level overnight with only a modest rainfall. Are there any feeder streams into the lake that could account for that increase? Also, I know that you carry a tripod for your camera, but have you considered trekking poles on your journeys into the mountains? They particularly come in handy for me when transversing wet or icy locations in rocky terrains. Saved my butt (literally) a number of times. Stay well!
It was raining pretty heavy throughout the night from about 10pm till morning. I was a bit surprised it rose that much though. From the looks of the map there are at least two streams that feed into it so that’s a definitely a contributing factor. When I’m not filming I definitely take at least one trekking pole! I agree, they are extremely useful! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! ATB
@@GoingSoloOutdoors А для защиты обуви от промокания, при переходе водных преград, иметь плотные пакеты или специальные непромокаемые тонкие сапоги. Здоровье дороже. А палки очень даже НУЖНЫ.
New to the channel, great video and location. I've learned a few handy techniques about the Nammatj 2 by watching you set it up and pack it away, and I've had mine for at least 4 years ! Could you please let me now the model of your backpack ? The side pocket is perfect for that tent ! 😎
Welcome to the channel! It’s such a fantastic tent 👍. In this video, I’m using the Fjallraven keb 72. I agree the side pocket is perfect for getting out your tent and putting it away while the bag is packed. It’s an incredibly comfortable pack. They actually make a 52 L version also. It would definitely be a bit tighter of a squeeze, but I was actually on a recent camp able to fit the Nammatj in my 45 L pack. It would be a nicer option for the autumn and fall when I you need all the winter gear. Appreciate you taking the time to comment and thanks for the support!
@@GoingSoloOutdoors Hey thanks for the reply and the info on the pack, I will definitely be checking that 52ltr version out so much appreciated. Keep up the inspirational work, i think your video's are really well balanced between information, activity and just moments with stunning views.
So calming after a day working in the hospital. Thank you! PS your cap is wonderful. What is it?
Glad to hear that! I imagine that can be a stressful job. I’m wearing the Fjallraven Ovik flat cap 👍
Great video, great location, shame about the soggy boots 👍👍
Thanks! Definitely a cool spot that was worth the soggy boots 😀
Just discovered your channel and really enjoying them. Subscribed.
When ‘escaping’ the island did you consider taking your boots and socks off and rolling your trousers up? Ok going to be very cold but better than having soaking wet boots and cold feet on the walk back.
Also how do you decide which stove to take? I’ve seen you use the Jetboil, Trangia and Alpkit stove. Any reason or just to have a change?
Keep up the great content.
Thanks for the support! I thought about taking my shoes and socks off, but I just don’t know how sharp some of those rocks are on the bottom, and it’s not worth risking cutting my foot or slipping and completely falling in 👍. The cook system I bring usually just depends on what I’m cooking. Also if I’m bringing a heavier tent, I might choose to bring lighter cooking gear. And I simply just like to change it up occasionally. I really appreciate you taking the time to comment! ATB
Great video - first time I've seen one of yours - many more will follow!! Thanks!!
Thanks! Really appreciate the support 👍
Bring 2 plastic bags next time, put them over your feet, tied up at your knees . . . should the stone path over flood again.
Really enjoyed this video, like ALL of your others. Thank you for sharing it.
What is your pack/ backpack please?
👍👍 I’ve actually even used bread bags in the past. Works well! Wish I had brought some. I was using the Fjallraven Keb 72. I normally only use this in the winter. If I could do it all over again I would probably purchase the Keb 52 instead. It would definitely still fit all this gear! Appreciate you continuing to watch and taking the time to comment! ATB
Superb video as usual! Thank you.
What height are you? Was looking into the Nammatj, although being 6’1” I may well touch the sides.
And do you wax your Keb?
Looking forward to this years exploits.
I’m only 5’10” or maybe 5’11” on a day I’m feeling tall and not slouching 🤣. The Nammatj is absolutely fantastic! I have plenty of room however you may be right up against the ends. I have yet to have any condensation on the foot box when I’ve slid all the way to the ends though. You could consider sleeping at an angle if your using it as a single person shelter. I will put two layers of wax on my Keb Jacket going into winter and one layer of the waterproofing spray Fjallraven sells and I find it to be extremely water resistant! So much so that I will not even bring my waterproof jacket because I like the breathability of the Keb. Really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment! ATB
dude for this trip you needed to bring two binbags, to get back from island. Could just put bag over boots and cross with ease next time :)
I’ve had to use bags before to cover my feet to keep them dry in wet boots 👍. I definitely could have used them on this trip. Appreciate all the comments!!
Water problems, absolutely jelly...
The water is typically crystal clear and great. However, I have found dead animals in the streams, and in some of the llyns before 👍. After I got water from them 😅. It takes no effort to filter water so I just do it.
Looked a bit dicey there for a moment on the descent.
With the rocks wet I definitely find it much more difficult coming down the mountain than going up the mountain 👍. Appreciate you taking the time to comment!
Very tricky conditions, but an incredible spot @@GoingSoloOutdoors
Nice to watch your videos, Good luck for all your upcoming videos

As long as tent stakes stay planted, your shelter should stand up to anything Mother Nature throws at it. I see you put some large rocks atop tent stakes.
Which Brand & Model is your Sleeping Bag?
Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada U.S.A.
Yeah the Nammatj is a beast. I don’t really have any concerns with it handling the wind. When I’m in Snowdonia or the Lakes I typically will place stones on the pegs as the winds are just so unpredictable. There were some pretty strong gusts coming through this area. Before I placed stones some of the pegs were already starting to get wiggled out of the ground. It’s nice to have that piece of mind that they are not going anywhere. I use a Marmot Sawtooth 15 sleeping bag. I really like it. I’ve had it for around 6 years now and it’s still going strong. Thanks for watching!

Hello my friend ,how much your suitcase weighs?
On this trip I don’t remember but I usually will not carry more than 15kg 👍
@@GoingSoloOutdoors thank you my friend 👍
Can you drink straight from the tarn or does the water have to be filtered first?
I always filter my water first regardless of how clean it may look 👍
@@GoingSoloOutdoors is it true that a flowing stream doesn't need to be filtered?
@@NKdidit.24 It is generally best to collect water from a flowing source but upstream there is still a chance a dead animal could have fallen into the stream or left waste near it. If you are at the source of a stream. As in, you are at the point where the water is coming out of the earth it is more than likely fine but in my opinion is never worth the risk. I always have a small filter on me anyways and it takes no time at all to just collect the water and drink it right from my filter. I was once at a pristine looking tarn that had a dead sheep in it that I could see at the bottom through the crystal clear waters. I even saw a dead baby sheep next to a stream on my most recent camp. So yeah never worth the risk in my opinion. Especially if you have a filter anyways 👍
@@GoingSoloOutdoors I never thought of it like that. Thank you for your knowledge and advice.
If it’s unfiltered, you could be getting sheep soup for free! 🤣😊
This is the same

People are taking wood from the only tree for a fire…. I don’t like my kind.
Yeah I was EXTREMELY disappointed to see that! It’s such a beautiful spot why people feel the need to scar the land is beyond me. Incredibly selfish. Appreciate you watching.
Some humans are like locusts, they destroy everything they touch
It’s pretty clear this location is getting popularised by vlogs like this and other you tube channels. The higher cwm was pretty much only frequented by Shepards, winter climbers and those coming off the north ridge of CG prior to the advent of social media. Whilst laudable that you criticise the actions of those who ‘desecrate’ these really special places, unfortunately they are a symptom of inadvertently promoting such places. A circle that can’t be squared I’m afraid.
From the beginning I thought: that's a tricky place. :-) Water can rise quickly knowing by experience.
But it makes a good story like this, your story telling is super, the cooking not so much because it's not Vegan. ;-)
Be Vegan man and use your channel to promote that. How about that? 🙂
Fiendly greetings from the Netherlands, Onno Nugteren.
I knew it was a bit of a gamble but it was a really interesting spot to spend the night 👍. Haha I’m definitely no Vegan but I do cook some vegan dishes at home from time to time. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment! ATB
Sorry I had to laugh at you getting wet feet 😂

True that’s why I carry a Garmin InReach Satellite communicator 👍
@@GoingSoloOutdoors Good m8 take care 👍🏻
Enjoyed the Video well enough but I am over people freaking out over the remnants of a small camp fire,... Rocks were formed for you to get to the Island & the scorched Earth will grow back,... Next you will want Campers to piss in a bottle & shit in a bag to take it home lol.
Glad you enjoyed the video! It does get on my nerves (not freaking out) when people can’t just put a little effort into cleaning up after themself so that others can enjoy a beautiful place. We’re not suppose to have fires here and if enough people keep leaving places like this they could potentially enforce no camping in these areas and that would be unfortunate. It takes hardly any effort to leave no trace. I have a small fires all the time in my local forests to cook or camp. I can properly put out the fire and leave no trace so it’s like I wasn’t even there, it’s not hard. The UK is not that large and there are limited places to come that look like this. If we were talking about massive areas of land like you see in Canada or back home in the states I would say the opposite. Leaving a rock fire ring would actually be beneficial 👍. But saying I want people peeing in a bottle or pooping in a bag 🤣 because I think it’s sucks that people are too lazy to leave no trace if they’re going to have a fire, is a bit silly and I think you know that. Thanks for watching. Appreciate you taking the time to comment!

Thank you for your response,... Yes, I intentionally exaggerated with the Bottle & Bag for the point & I do believe in being a good steward of the land,... I don't like those who litter & when I used to fish Sydney Harbour before moving to USA I never took more than I could eat, it's just that I think the "Leave No Trace" thing can be taken a bit far but again, thanks for the response.
@@davidyummus6259 I agree, like anything it can always be taken too far sometimes. I just make a point to mention LNT it in my videos because wild camping has kinda been under attack the past few years here in the UK. Mainly because of people who are not being good stewards of the land and the greed of wealthy land owners. Coming from the US I still find it incredibly bizarre the land in the national parks here are owned by private individuals. Luckily the wild camping community was just handed a big win recently in an appeals court case, so things are looking better 👍. All the best
Smaller than Falklands.
Just a little 😜. Thanks for watching!

Yeah I could have used them! I was a bit surprised the water level rose that much. Thanks for watching!
