Thanks for this really useful and informative video! Does anyone know the difference between the Ostara HR 40mm and the Ostara S-HR 40mm eyepieces? TIA! 👍
S-HR can be used in spotting scopes for terrestrial use, ie, flat field and less curvature. To be honest any Plössl eyepiece you can find, are good. I am recently using my Meade Super Plössl eyepieces which come as a kit with Meade telescopes. They are excellent. You can use any eyepieces you find. For example for f ratios above 6, the BST Starguider ED range are excellent value. In my experience BST Starguider ED 8mm is the best planetary eyepiece I have ever used. You can not go wrong with most of the modern eyepieces. My advice is, instead of spending too much money and time chasing best eyepieces , try to enjoy your telescope and use it on any celestial target within your reach!
Thank you Dr Astro! Yes, I was looking at getting the set you recommend in this video, but it seems the HR has been replaced with the S-HR. Thanks for the recommendation on the 8mm BST, a bit pricey for a budget set though! Keep up the great work with the channel 👍
Yes, enjoy your eyepiece and telescope! AliExpress, ebay or UK Astrobuyandsell (and USA version of it) are great places to get good value for money. I have bought most of my eyepieces and telescopes from such places and I have saved a lot by buying second hand! Never had any problems so far.
