    Thanks for this. Just ordered SVbony 10mm, 23mm gold aspheric and SVbony 40mm plossl for my scopes. They range from 100mm f/4, 76mm f/9, 114mm f/8, and 203mm f/6. All used Newtonian reflectors that came with a variety of SMA, Kellner, Plossl, Hugyens and SR4mm eyepieces. Hopefully we'll get some good results!

      If your telescope is a large Dobsonian, you may like later to get a 2 inch size eyepiece in the range of 26, 28 or 30mm later.

    Hi mate, great video, what was the make of the pl40mm? Did you say astara?

    • @TheAstronomer
      @TheAstronomer  Год назад

      Ostara, also known as Orbinar. It was widely available a few years ago, itis a bit difficult to find now. Any 40 or 30mm is as good.

    What’s the field of view of the 32mm plossl and how would it compare to the celestron 32mm plossl

    • @TheAstronomer
      @TheAstronomer  Год назад +1

      Field of view of Plössl eyepieces is 50° to 52°. Their magnification depends on the focal length of the telescope, but on the same telescope they have the same magnification.

    Great video! I want to buy new eyepieces for my Dob 130/650 f/5 and I found those orange Svbony but you say that you don't recommend them for

      For Deep Sky observing you can get Skyrover 100° eyepieces from ebay, AliExpress or UK Astrobuyandsell. You also can use some of the lovely cheap eyepieces I have and use, like a generic nameless 26 to 39mm 2 inch eyepieces. They are all lovely. For planetary and lunar high magnification, I recommend SVBONY 3-8 zoom these days!

    I got a skywatcher Explorer 900 but the eyepieces I got are not very good and cheap comes with a very poor 10mm eyepiece and a super 25mm eyepiece which is probably the best one that is there can see Jupiter's moons and clusters and the barlow lens I don't use what would you recommend get better viewing of planets 8mm or just upgrading on a better quality 25mm

    • @TheAstronomer
      @TheAstronomer  2 года назад

      For planets, get a BST Starguider ED 8mm and 5 mm. For wider views, get a SVBony Aspheric 23mm and 10 mm (orange top ones) . They will cover all your needs. You will be fine. They give you the sharpest views. Also for planets like Jupiter and Saturn, remove the star diagonal and look through the eyepiece and telescope directly. It is called Japanese style. I am amazed by the quality of images I was missing when I used star diagonals! Probably even your existing eyepieces will be fine if you go the Japanese style with low laying planets at the moment.

    • @TheAstronomer

      It is easy to see if it works. You have a kit of eyepieces which came with the telescope. Put the 10mm one with a Barlow lens and see how is the image. If it is not that bad then yes, you can enjoy a better eyepiece. Just remember that the image quality depends on the weather and seeing conditions. So don't be disappointed if on the first try you are not getting the best results. We are like a fish, in a pond, who wants to look at the stars from within the water. The atmosphere does the same to us. We are living at the bottom of the air ocean and the same waves and movements affect our seeing. That is the reason we want to use HST and James Webb Telescope, which can look into the stars from above this atmospheric ocean.

    The Orion 66° are just rebranded svbony gold line the redline svbony are just different barrel shape and 2° wider

      I think SVBony came much later. Orion Expans existed at least since 2010. They are both made in the same Chinese optical company.

      No. I think they look similar to Orion Expanse, which I have tested and found the 9mm and 6mm ones the best. I have a video about it here: Watching The Moon: Testing Orion Expanse And TMB Planetary II Eyepieces/ Review, Comparison

      @TheAstronomer  Год назад

      @@hakman239 I must say I have only tested the Orion Expanse, but it looks similar to SVBony red lines. SVBony has variations in its eyepieces. So when I bought the Aspheric orange line ones, I thought their other Aspheric ones (the black one with 29, 12, 9mm focal lenghts ) are similar. They are not! Probably the weakest eyepieces I have ever seen. I wanted to make a video but the optics was so embarrassing I just took a partial refund and didn't bother to make a video.

      Svbony 3-8mm zoom is also excellent. It would have saved me tones of mobey if it was available a few years ago.
