- This is a little quick video on how to recreate the sounds of Kevin Parker (tame impala).
any questions or requests for new material or instructional videos just email me at ccargillmusic@gmail.com
Step 1: Sing flawlessly into the mic exactly like Kevin Parker
Step 2: Apply effects
Step 3: Profit
r0bophonic bro trust me no one sounds like him.
There’s just no way to get those nuances!
keep working at it, youll have it in your grasp before you know it
@@AustinMarshmallows actually I thought this Kevin isolated vocals
lmao, so right
@@AustinMarshmallows haha I just discovered my comment got a bunch of likes. All meant in the spirit of praise my friend. Thanks for this fantastic tutorial. Loving your originals too and looking forward to more!
Bruh your dry vocals are amazing. Usually people on RUclips have trash dry vocals.
UrLeftNipple I try. But his voice is so unique I’m surprised I got away with it sounding this alright
Austin Cargill alright?? Bro, your vocals sound almost identical to Kevin’s. You got a gift. Keep doing stuff like this!
Holy shit I thought he was just using Kevin's vocals to show us.
This should be re-titled "How to become Tame Impala"
100th like

Damn the guy can actually sing, I was thinking he was playing the stems 😂
Giovanni Nodari damn thanks dude
Austin Cargill do you make music and have an Instagram?
Giovanni Nodari my sound cloud is Austincargill and my instagram is Austinmarshmallows

*UPDATE*
This tutorial is very old! A brand new updated version with more correct processes is coming very soon, and will fix all the shortcomings that this one had. thank you for watching!
I can’t wait for that!! When do you think it’ll be up?
Did you ever post it?
This man sounds like kermit the frog when he talks but sings like an angel haha... great video man!
Honestly that's huge compliment to their singing, shows really really good range haha
why hasn’t this blown up yet
because he's literally just applying compression, eq, and delay which is the most common vocal chain ever. Great video, but it's nothing viral worthy.
best vocal tutorial i've seen in a while! Straight simple and to the point
Dude your voice has so much upper range shine even before applying the EQ that’s such a nice quality to have in your voice haha
Man this is totally mind blowing, this is the closets I’ve heard to tame impala recording sound
The only video that showed me exactly everything I need to see , thank you 🙏🏾
this is so awesome! i have been looking for kevin vocal guides and this is by far the one that everyone needs
pretty rare to see a vocal mixing video that is straight to the point and makes sense these days. Your vocals sounded exactly like kevin's, I couldn't tell the difference, very good work!
Step 1: Write a tame impala melody
Step 2: write tame impala lyrics
Step 3: record tame impala stuff
step 4: watch this video
step 5: apply tame impala effects chain
step 6: be tame impala ;)
also, very well done re-creation!
i did this step by step without realizing it lmao
hell yes, you killed that! I've been looking for a tutorial like this for awhile, major props dude.
Bro, you’ve got an incredible voice! Your double tracked vocals sounded exactly the same
Well done! You are a naturally good teacher
6:20 who’s playing black ops
lool i swore i heard the mystery box
My friend Katie!
This is exactly what i NEEDED!!!!! Thank you.
Can’t believe there’s a RUclips channel on 2/3 of the songs I listen to. Thanks, Austin.
Genuinely the most music production video. Or maybe youre just talented!
very well done dude. this is just what I was looking for.
man thanks a lot for the upload. please keep em coming!
bro thank you so much, you have no idea how much you just helped my track. Im going to send it to you when im finished.
incredibly helpful, great explanation, keep up the awesome work
Dude, I loved your accapella Borderline--your voice is amazing! I'll watch this even though I've never done karaoke. Thanks for sharing!
You're vocals are killin' and this tutorial deserves more views! Subbed and hit the bell 🤘🏾✌🏾
you are incredibly talented please keep uploading!!!
this is dope man, thanks for uploading!
6:20 who's playing zombies?
That was one of the most engaging videos on a subject so tedious. Awesome vocals went from dry which were very good to practically impossible to tell apart. The only thing I could hear was the tail on the stereo delay was a bit longer and decay lower it seemed than the original but whatever simply amazing!
You got crazy close, impressive! Thanks for sharing!
Dude you nailed it and explained it to a 5 years old. Now everyone will be tame impala.
wow you don’t know how much this about to change my life. remember and i will come back here thank u.
😂
Subbed!!! More tame Impala please!!!!!! Your doing God's work my friend. Been searching for this vocal technique forever
joshua tolle I’m thinking about breaking down every song and instrument from every album. What do you think?
Thank you for recording this amazing helpful video!
I refer to this video the most. thanks Austin. please keep making more videos.
dude these tutorials are super helpful
your the man
Thank you, this was really helpful and I am using it right now. Fixed a problem I couldn't figure out for a while!
Also the importance of singing your doubled vocals exactly the same, if not it really doesn't work
Hey Austin, just wanted you to know - everytime i need to set up the compression for my vocals in Logic I come back to this video. Really boostin the algi for ya haha... Thanks man. Means alot, and alot of other people are impressed by the vocal sound
I took copious notes and am currently applying your exact parameters to a vocal track I'm working on. Really sweet sound. Your dry vocals are really impressive. With a voice like that, I hope you're singing your own songs too. Subbed my dude.
its original! thank you for the view my man. I'm glad im finally able to do something that truly makes me happy. tutorials and helping people make the music THEY want to hear. peace and love
@@AustinMarshmallows Yeah, I feel you man. Congrats on finding your passion and putting so much work into this. I'm getting basically every question answered just watching your videos. really do appreciate you!!!!
This is amazing, thanks for sharing brethren!
Super inspiring stuff, thanks!
lol I love that I can hear somebody playing cod zombies in the background
I thought it was Kevin's real voice! hahaha! I always had an idea of the effects he used on his voice, but I really liked the result so similar that you get with the process you do
Only half way trough it, and I love this. It's just so amazing to discover what you can do with voice effect, and especially don't feel like trash if your raw vocals sounds like trash
Damn I never knew about the vocals flex pitch and I’ve been working with logic for years...
Oh shit! An authentic tutorial that actually sounds good!
juvo thank you!
Great video man keep them coming ✌️
Another good trick I saw is a method to ensure that your reverb doesn't wash out the vocals. You sidechain the wet vocal signal with the dry vocal signal. What this does is when the dry vocal is playing it compresses the reverb, but as the dry vocal fades out, the reverb volume increases. This makes your vocals both present and clear, yet still retaining all that lush reverb. Just something to try.
this is amazing!! good job
your delay and reverb are pretty much default. This guy is a genius.
wow this is spot on!
when i heard that demo i thought I was listening to the original
Can you make a video on how you set up your space for recording the vocal? Curious about your acoustic treatment and tracking to get a good sounding vocal to work with in the mix, thanks
YOUR VOICE IS AMAZING
Great job!
You’re amazing bro
This was amazing
would loooove this on Ableton
Yo Austin, we have the same name! Thank you for puttin' me on game with that mic and these tutorials! Keep going g!
god finally not shit how-to-copy production style video, i appreciate infinitely
HOLY SHIT YOUR DEMO IS SO FUCKING AMAZING
You nailed 99.9% of the tone
Dude this is amazing! Keep singing man! You ste goodA
Great work!!
really good job! you sound a lot like him haha
this deserves a sub
I'd advice you to sidechain the delay to the vocals. So they do not overtake the vocals.
@Logan Bolton It's very common practice with EDM stuff to do that with delays and longer reverbs, yeah... It can be used more subtly as a mixing thing or more directly as a substitute for automation.
This is awesome
thank you!
Amazing. Thanks so much
This video is very outdated compared to how it’s done now.
I would definitely tell you to stay tuned because it gotten light years better with my effects and approach
Bro thank you so much! BTW, what are the settings for the drum track? Sounds just like his!
Wow dude! U are very professional
Wow awesome man! Would love if you could share the session file with us, or at least explain where you got some of the other loops? Thanks!
Please make more videos about Tame Impala!!
hey! thank you for this! very helpful grounds for expanding
you did a really good job
Thanks, really appreciate the great video, you da man!!!
really enjoyed this video man
Flawless
You have a great voice.
Amazing video!
bro you craazy. well done.
this was great man thank you
awesome work, bud!
Hey man, thanks for the video. Really informative! Just wanted to let you know that when you're talking about the USB Focusrite by Scarlett... that's an Audio Interface, not a pre-amp. It has a pre-amp build in (that's what the 48V are for) but when you talk about preamps, those are external pre-amps. To give an example: Neve 1073, that's a famous pre-amp which looks similar to an audio interface, but it's not the same. After connectic your microphone to an external pre-amp you still need it to go trough an Audio Interface like your Scarlett Focusrite to work on your computer. Much love :)
i need this man's voice in my life "all right!"
Haha thanks
You could also try to sidechain compress the stereo delay to make it less muddy
This is sick bro
Congrats for the video. I guess there's a lot of interesting things around Kevin Parker's productions. Usualy he has a very strong bass and drums to creat the song's body. One video about that kind of effects could be interesting :)
Diogo Carneiro for sure! I’m in the process of getting a new Mac book so I’ll be making more videos soon. About his drums
Good tutorial. Some useful info in here.
i really appreaciate this
Great video! A note on your preamp: Focusrite is the brand, "Scarlet" is the model. Great sound
The song gave me chills damn it
This is dope, thank you
This is Amazing, thanks a lot!
This is unreaaal!! 🤯🖤 somebody else heard that in the room nextdoor someone was playing COD zombies?😨🤗 mystery box included!!!
oh my god you're so talented
this was crazy helpful
You're a great singer.
6:16 Thanks! Would you mind telling me - I'm a beginner to mixing - what those compressor settings are by default. Or are those the default settings? You have .35 (-34.5 dB) and Ratio 3.5ish, and Make up 0 etc..
