Sad to say it's passionate insanity - no wonder his son saw through him

One of the best reasons that Jesus has to be perfected through suffering is found in Hebrews 2:17-18.
[17] For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. [18] Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

Also, this very fine sermon never answered the question posed in the title. The answer is YES! Jesus did die for everyone!
    ‭1 Timothy 2:3-6 NIV‬
[3] This is good, and pleases God our Savior, [4] who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. [5] For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, [6] who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.
(Gave Himself as a ransom for WHOM?)
    ‭Titus 2:11 NIV‬
[11] For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.
    (Offers salvation to WHOM?)
And, of course, verse 9 of Hebrews 2!
    ‭Hebrews 2:9 NIV‬
[9] But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.
(He might taste death for WHOM?)

The whole conception of Piper about a deity needing to learn obedience by suffering it's so dishonoring of God - it's really despicable
That an infinite Divine being what is tested in order to become perfect😢
How in God's name does that make the least sense how in God's name is that not the greatest spew of insanity

  • @greglogan7706
    @greglogan7706 4 месяца назад

The idea of a Divine person in any sense being the brother of a human person is such absurd nonsense that anyone who would think such a thing would most appropriately locked up with other lunatics babbling and drooling on themselves

I think you have a problem with verse 11 and 17, not John Piper.

You're having a problem with 2.11 - which explicitly describes Jesus as being created - and 2.17 (which is ambiguous as to such an issue) - as being problematic for someone's ideology is not really an issue.
The reality however which is part of my point is that this author did have these ideas in his mind... which are very much at Cross purposes with hypostatic christology
