It depends on which occasion. Party matooke, ceremonial dishes, and quick meals. What you are making is one of the quick meals. ... There are some words in Kisi which are similar to Luganda ..Leero for today.

Liz to avoid that dark colouring, you have to make sure that when you peel the matooke, peel off the green colour and leave it white and to avoid the dark colouring in your palm, just put enough oil and use warm water and soap to wash it off

Lizzy I am from Kisii too but I'm residing in the USA .To avoid black colour on your bananas, put a little salt in the water,peel your bananas dipping them inside the salty water.when you are done peeing, put them in a sufuria and cover it with a lid . shake them and you will see the outcome. That's what my mother thought me 😂.

I enjoy you guys so much. I do prefer my meat tender. If We’re taking the skin off before boiling we slice our plantains lengthwise (under the skin, not deep) in two different parts . It makes it easier to peel. Even if boiling we slice and boil with a little salt. To take of the darkness on the plantain we add ice in the water after boiling. That’s if you’re serving boiled plantain by itself. We make fried plantain (sweet and green) since I’m from Haiti. I like this new recipe, thanks for sharing.
Hi Liz & Atti, that matoke is calling me 🤤🤤the presentation too is on top notch 👌for the discoloration I used to see people putting the bananas in salted water immediately you peel to avoid the discoloration. For the stickiness in your hands when you’re peeling ,you can maybe find some gloves, anyways I’m enjoying the show as i “eat with my eyes” 😂
I love love matoke. To avoid breaking it while I put spices once I've put tomatoes in the pot,allow to simmer,add water as required,allow to simmer for 10 mins then put the matoke in n allow to simmer on low heat till fully cooked.
