  • A reenlistment bonus in the Army Reserve is a financial incentive offered to encourage Soldiers to reenlist for an additional period of service. The bonus is typically provided as a lump sum payment and is intended to recognize and reward the commitment of Soldiers who choose to continue their service in the Army Reserve.
The amount of the bonus can vary based on factors such as the Soldier's military occupational specialty, the length of the reenlistment commitment, and the current needs of the Army Reserve. Soldiers may consider these bonuses as part of their decision-making process when deciding whether to extend their service in the Army Reserve.

After signing a reenlistment contract with a bonus. What's the typical payout time frame to see it in my bank account?

On the Reserve side, it could be between 30 and 90 days unless there is a records issue, which we have seen. Unfortunately, there have been some delays. If you don't receive it after 60 days, you can request a bonus inquiry. See your Career Counselor for more detailed information.

Not necessarily. Once you extend then reenlist, you should be able to review all incentives with your Retention NCO.
