The part with Buck dropping his helmet in the snow breaks my heart every god damn time
I bought this series and have watched it repeatedly, it is truly a classic, and it's all true.
There will never be any other series, mini or movie, that could touch the pure genius of this masterpiece. Ever.
I wish it could have lasted longer. Such a remarkable piece of work. Truly one of the HBO's gems.
This song makes my cry. It's so beautiful an d it gives me the chills
this song gives me shivers :D
im not american im british but this was still such an amazing series
my great grandfather served in WWII and actually knew a couple of americans who survived the mis-drops during operation overlord
They were both at his funeral 14 years ago and i met them but they're dead now
its thanks to men like my great grandfather and all those who served in the allied forces that we're free
My father was part of CCB 10th armored division that was called at 3am to be ready to move out from Luxembourg, where they were "'resting". Their maps of the ardennes weren't too good and at one point they had to guess whether to stay on one side of a river on cross over. They guessed right, and drove into Bastogne. The commander of the 101st stated that 10th armoried deserved a lot more credit than they got. My father said that when the 101st got to bastogne they were poorly equipped, and looked like they weren't prepared for a serious battle. Well they got one, and they may not have been prepared equipment-wise, but they were well-trained. The defense of Bastogne was a combined arms effort of airborne and amored units.
This series was amazing. Not to mention it was amazing to hear the stories coming from the the actual vets.
Lol, nearly 5 years ago I uploaded this.. good memories.. and yea I was a kid back then so it was pretty crap quality

I watched an 8hr marathon of this once. I can do it again.
this seires, this song, and this intro give me the chills
The music is, I think, a great tribute to our people who served.
Simplemente perfecto. Excelente mini serie!
Thank you Veterans! We will never forget your bravery.
Best mini-series ever.
I love band of brothers because my uncle and my grandpa fought in ww2
The kind of show and soundtrack that makes one proud to be an American, even if that person is normally not.
DAVID CRAM I'm not American but I agree. This was America's finest hour. Britain also has my respect for fighting so hard for her survival (Not British either).
Coming from a non-American, Patton was a cocky asshole who often insulted other nations, but oh well. He sure was an effective General, and he seemed to understand, more than any other field commander, how to win decisively. I believe he was even more of an effective tank commander than Rommel (Although Rommel fought in Africa with almost no resupply, while Patton always had plenty of resources at his disposal). Patton just went right for the jugular and always overwhelmed the foe.
I know for a fact that I would not have liked him very much as person, but I would have had a healthy respect for him and a fear for his nasty temper!! And I would not have wanted to fire him from his position, because he was so good at bringing victory.
Salvus967 q
Salvus967 Patton and Rommel make great characters in a story
The best WWII mini series I've seen!
R.I.P Dick Winters, we salute you, Curahee!
I think It's time to watch this mini-series again. For the fourth time I guess ...
I don't have any relatives that were in active combat during World War II (plenty of engineers, but no one on German or Japanese soil), and despite that, just this opening always manages to tug at my heart strings. Just thinking of the people whose lives were ruined or changed forever because some megalomaniac decided he was fit to decide which groups of people were unfit for his "perfect world".
The true Heroes of the War! Not too many of them left now.
BarbellRoy Sadly, they are all being laid in the Earth. With them goes the first hand accounts of a monumental human experience. Even though we have collected so many of their personal thoughts and stories, we will never have enough to do them justice. So many personal stories of this war are already gone, so many are slipping away every single day. How sad and amazing life is. We all grew up in the shadow of this war...One day, our second hand stories from our own deceased grandparents will even become rare and valued. They too, will go extinct and the stories will fade forever into legend.
Salvus967 Time marches on, humans live and die. Even the very cosmos will die someday.
Melarky is still alive he's 95
Salvus967 I highly doubt it will fall into legend, ww2 was the biggest war to ever happen. If ww2 falls into legend, it will take a few centuries
RIP Richard Winters
And that song reminds me of them
Be cool if there was a mini series like this on WW1, the war that shaped the way we fight today, created and destroyed nations, and brought an explosion of experimentation with technology.
I watched an 11 hr marathon just yesterday and it was epic. Try for all the episodes or the series just isn't as epic.
Good mini series
An other great song is the song of The Pacific, the miniseries after Band of Brothers about the war against the Japanese army, but this is one of the best songs I ever heard of openings. Also, is an extraordinary series, it's so interesting and not bored at all. The series of HBO are the bests. The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, The Wire, Game of Thrones (for me, the best series ever), Band of Brothers, and i'm starting to see The Pacific, that sounds great. Apart from HBO, AMC is also great, with The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad. I never saw Breaking Bad, but I have to. Also I like Arrow, Friends, The Big Bang Theory, Seinfeld and How I Met Your Mother. Which of those you like? You like other series? Tell me so I can see them, because I'm looking for a series to watch. And The Pillars of the Earth is cool.
WOW, (speechless)!!!
Dont ever forget D-Day.
Band of Brothers was better than The Pacific, but The Pacific's opening credits were better. Excellent series, both of them. Spielberg does war well
Great music for a great series , loved band of brothers and the pacific was also good. But fyi Tom Hanks, the war was not only fought by Americans, it'd be nice if they focused on maybe English, Russian or even German troops once in a while!
he's an american who produced a series about americans. Generation War is a good series produced by germans
The dislikers out there! Yes, you! Get on your PT gear. You are running Currahee! THREE MILES UP, THREE MILES DOWN! HI HO SILVER!!!
