Man. Thank you for this. My 2015 Colorado did this today while I was driving. No audio from the radio, blinkers, etc. So glad you made this clear, concise video explaining it!
This is absolutely the fix. Check the battery and it had a dead cell. It would still start the truck, though. Replaced the battery and problem solved. Brother, thank you soo much!
Glad I found this video here in early 2022. Been happening for a few months now on and off typically with colder temps. Sure enough my battery is low. Never noticed because truck starts and alternator shows full power when running.
Do not waste your money buying a brand new battery!!! This is not the problem if you hit your on star button the guy sitting with 3 bars and wait 5 seconds and then hit the button to cancel it it will fix this issues. You can also disconnect your battery wait 2 mins and hook it back up. Do not waste your money on a battery.
I did a factory "global hard reset" did not work found another way to reset by disconnecting battery then waiting 5 to 10 min bfor hooking the cables back up touch both negative and positive together for 3 to 5 seconds then hooking them up starting with positive then negative nothing worked for me I also tryed the on'star theory no luck... going to test battery after reading this post.
my problem is sometimes i get in my truck and start it and the radio won't work but if i start it up and the door chime works the radio will work but if the the door chime doesn't sound off the radio won't work either. In other words, if the door chime goes off the radio works, if the door chime does not sound off the radio will not work. If i turn the motor off and crank it back up sometimes the radio will start working again. It's weird.
Also if you have a slightly older one and it has the Bose system. Chances are your stock amplifier has either went out or the fuse popped. Working on dealing with mine in my 2008 right now.
You’re a fukn god for this comment. I have a 2016 GMC Canyon with a Bose sound system. Switch out spot F20 (on inside passenger side fuse panel, with a 30 mini fuse with a fresh one and it worked!! Old one popped. (Being specific in case anyone else with same issue stumbles upon this comment).
Expensive but necessary fix. Did the other steps people talked about, end call button etc. none of that worked n I think because I have a 2015 not a newer model. I changed the battery n I’m pretty sure it did need to be changed anyway and all of my sounds are working again! Thank you for your video. Ok, I won’t take the credit, my husband changed the battery. If u have a 2015 u know it’s a task to change it.
Just confirming with this information, it's true...my battery needed replacement. My sound was not working at all, A temp fix run your car and let it warm up, then turn it off, open your door then close, sit for 5 minutes and restart your radio should work until you get your battery replaced 👍
Changed my battery but still didnt work. Any other solutions? my start up chime blinkers and left side speakers are not working not even the beep when fuel is low
Our Temp got down to the mid 50's last night and today mine did the same thing also my fan stayed on and ac quit blowing cold. I did notice that it started a little sluggish today. This makes sense. Going to change the battery out and hopefully this fixes it. Thanks!
I have a 2015 Silverado the radio and everything works except you have to go to the menu just so you can see like for example WPRO like it doesn’t so that on my stereo Q&A?
I have all these issues but my stereo is making a thumping nose off and on. I believe I changed the battery prior to this starting to happen to my truck. So I’m confused.
I been having this issue for quite awhile now. all I would do is turn the truck off, let it rest for a minute and start it back up and it would work fine. But lately that has not been working. Today I noticed it has struggled to start, I hope the battery is the issue and the fix.
So I have a 2016 Camaro and there’s no sound coming from anywhere do you think this could be the issue for my car I went to get the batter tested and they said it needed to be charged ? So maybe?
I want to be clear, this MAY not fix your issue, however, if your battery is old, and like you said, it tested weak, it very well could be. These chevys have a multitude of culprits that cause the same issue weve had, however I do believe a weak and dying battery is the most common and easiest fix. I cant guarantee obviously, but, if it's almost time to replace your battery anyway, may as well give it a shot. One thing mine was doing that made me believe it was the battery was also, it would only have this issue when I first started it, after driving it for a little while (charging the battery) and then restarting it after it charged up via the alternator, I would have aound again. Also, I noticed my voltmeter was running slightly higher than usual when my issue occured, in the 15 range as a pose to 14 and below (normal). If you've got those 2 symptoms, I'd put money on just a battery
I have a 2018 Chevy Tahoe and everything works but no sound for the radio, turn signal, or chimes. I tried everything. Pulled and checked fuses for the radio, amp and infocenter, tested battery and it is good to go, I tried the Onstar button and the call disconnect button tricks, disconnected the battery for over 10 minutes then reconnected AND NONE OF THESE THINGS WORK. My research found all of the sounds are through the amp located in the trunk/rear driver's side panel (also another fuse box is there). You can order another amp online, but it looks like a pain in the ass to remove the amp yourself as there are several items in your way that blocks easy access to the amp. It's like the whole panel has to be removed to get to the amp. I'm going to talk to the dealership in the morning. The tips people have recommended are a temporary solution until the amp completely fails.
Having that same problem with my 15 right now..No blinker sound no volume on the radio..Just stopped for gas..Truck was off for like 5 minutes…Now everything works…Thanks for the video !!
I have this issue with my 2019 Tahoe. Changed the battery and it didn't help. Still no radio, blinker sound, start up ding. When I push the radio power button it says audio is muted. How do I get the mute to go away?!?!?
I just forcibly smack the dash with my hand very hard just above the left side of the glove boxes and the stuff starts working. Either my display fails to boot up or the amplifier doesn't work when I start the 2018 gm truck. It is a connection problem between the radio components. BTW mine has new DUAL batteries under the hood. It's not a battery problem. Have yours load tested before you spend $120 on a new one.
I've been told that the radio connects under the glove box, big rectangle connection and apparently, sometimes the connector just comes loose. Theres youtube videos on where it is, sometimes just unplugging it and plugging it back in nice and tight is all that needs to be done as well
My 15 only does it when it's cold out like low 30s or below. But, it doesn't do it everytime. Doesn't do it in the warmer months. No issue with battery, cranks fine. I wonder if it has something to do with the cold? Seems as if after it warms up, it's okay after starting again.
That's exactly how and when my truck was acting up, it's most likely your battery has a dead or weak cell. When it's cold, the battery strains harder, once you warm it up it charges it enough to act normal. Same for when its warm outside, the battery doesnt strain has hard so you dont have issue. My truck did exactly what you described for 2 years and I couldnt figure it out until I noticed last winter, my battery volt gauge was abnormally high, and then one day a few weeks later, my truck wouldnt start. Replaced the battery and havent had any issues since. Keep an eye on your voltmeter. That's another indicator that your batteries on it's way out. If its reading high, that means the trucks alternator is overworking to keep the dying battery charged. Keep me updated on your findings! If I'm wrong, I'd love to hear what your issue does turn out to be!
Hey, thanks for this info, is it possible that they give you a shotty battery from new? My truck has been doing this when it's cold since I bought it new and that's why I always ruled it out?
Any solution? I bought a brand new battery and installed it which fixed my issue for a bit but now the same thing again. I even charged my battery and everything and still same issue, guess I'll go get it tested.
Mine was 100% battery related. Had the same issue in my 2015 Sierra for years. No sound from radio and turn signals when starting. Only happened on the coldest of (Ontario winter) days, however would be fine if I turned the truck off, allowing the system reset, and re-start (as battery would have re-charged by then). This year it started way more frequently, almost daily in warmer temps too. Progressed to starting issues with dead battery. Replaced battery and no issues with sound since.
I didn’t have this issue until i changed to a new battery, but i just saw on the comments to disconnect and wait 2 minutes, im gonna try that and see . But thanks for the video

Thank you in advance
lol thank you for making this video. I hardly drive my truck and it just started happening. I said its probably battery is low lol thanks again for the confirmation!
I had the same thing and a new battery did the trick. Now if I could get my radio to keep time and stop it from resetting the radio to 87.9 I would be in good shape. Thanks
What if I already got a new battery.. today I was going to get an oil change but turns on I didn’t and the guy turnt off the oil change light and the radio didn’t want to work
Literally same i have a 2015 Chevy Silverado my radio will sometimes come in just randomly going down the road but most of the time i have no sound/no seatbelt chime and no blinker noise been well over a year still haven’t got a fix im thinking a shop is gonna have to have my answer

Got new batteries my car has 2 one rear battery and a battery underneath the hood . Replaced the fuse which wasn't the problem neither. Car radio, signal lights, low fuel or door chimes still don't work . 🤔 grrrr
Today was second time this happened. Truck sat for a almost 2 days and cold outside. Last time after driving 20 mins, I started up and the sound came back. I know my Battery is fine
Passenger side you’ll see a fuse picture pop cover out use a plastic tool something flat cause there’s a few clips after check fuse 29-RDO(20A) and fuse 48-AMP(30A) it works for me 2015 Chevy Tahoe lt
Sorry to mention this fixed my black screen radio/weird sound on the dashboard speakers like it’s under water when you turn volume up and my turn signal had no blinking sound hopefully this helps someone out 🤙🏾
I cant guarantee it obviously, but if you have the same exact symptoms like shown in the video and your battery is pretty old or original, theres a good chance that that is all you need. If you have an advanced auto parts near you or another parts store that offers a free battery life check, if you go there and ask them to test it, if the battery is the culporate, the test should come back as the battery being weak or having a dead cell etc. I would get your battery tested to be sure first. Hopefully that's all it is!
My friend in MI just posted about this asking if anyone had this problem and knew how to fix it and what can ever do in 2020. Look it up on RUclips to see if someone has had the issue and recorded how to fix it. I’m not sure if it will help her BUT I thank you for the video. 😄
A lot of newer cars act similar because of all the electronics they have and all the power it takes to run all the different computers throughout the car. If her battery is a few years old, I definitely would try just replacing it first, I hope it works!
mines does this, on my gmc sierra 2015, but I get a annoying thuml sound through my speakers, one minute everything does sound or chime next minute theyre on....
Thank you for the video! This morning the temp was 28 F, my 2015 Buick LaCrosse was a little slow to start. Them I realized the radio & blinders had no sound.
No is not always true, it's not just the battery. I changed my battery and still didn't fix the problem. There are plugs in the doors that could possibly be wet as well.
Theres a big rectangle connector for the radio that should be underneath the glove box, they're known to come loose over time, cant guarantee that's your issue but I'd definitely check that before anything else, theres videos on youtube for that issue as well. A lot of people have luck just unplugging it and plugging it back in nice and tight, keep us updated on if you find the issue! I had no idea there were so many different electrical gremlins with these trucks until I saw how many comments there were here of people having all sorts of issues with their radios. Your findings would be very helpful for everyone! Good luck!
I have 2015 GMC Canyon and same thing happens to me. Replaced battery. Even a new battery will do this if the truck sits too long in the cold and get run down. Beware that your automatic all wheel drive will not work as well. I found out during a snowstorm. GM should correct as this is a dangerous fault. Dealers are aware but say they have no fix.
Man it’s a 110 here in Alabama and I have farted around with my suburban for 3 hours and this makes sense…. I would think for 70,000 they could have a low batt light on the dash…

Today was second time this happened. Truck sat for a almost 2 days and cold outside. Last time after driving 20 mins, I started up and the sound came back. I know my Battery is fine
Bought a new battery replaced all my radio fuses and these unfortunately didn’t do the trick for me /: anyone have a update on another fix ??
Nope...had that problem before a brand new alternator & new battery & still no start up chimes or turn signal chime
Passenger side you’ll see a fuse picture pop cover out use a plastic tool something flat cause there’s a few clips after check fuse 29-RDO(20A) and fuse 48-AMP(30A) it works for me 2015 Chevy Tahoe lt
Sorry to mention this fixed my black screen radio/weird sound on the dashboard speakers like it’s under water when you turn volume up and my turn signal had no blinking sound hopefully this helps someone out 🤙🏾
Brother, thanks. I hope you're right. This is maddening.
I got the same problem on 2014 gmc sierra Denali si i need new battery ?
I cant guarantee it obviously, but if you have the same exact symptoms like shown in the video and your battery is pretty old or original, theres a good chance that that is all you need. If you have an advanced auto parts near you or another parts store that offers a free battery life check, if you go there and ask them to test it, if the battery is the culporate, the test should come back as the battery being weak or having a dead cell etc. I would get your battery tested to be sure first. Hopefully that's all it is!
I have a 2015 2500 Silverado
I have 2 batteries (same problem)
I did notice the starter seeming to be weaker
Good video
Thanks
Thank you 👍🏽 hi from Dallas
Thanks man. Happening to my 15 now
New battery, 84* atm and having this problem winter and summer. Soo idk about battery part
I was so excited this might be what I needed but sadly it didn’t work for my car.
mines does this, on my gmc sierra 2015, but I get a annoying thuml sound through my speakers, one minute everything does sound or chime next minute theyre on....
Thank you for the video! This morning the temp was 28 F, my 2015 Buick LaCrosse was a little slow to start. Them I realized the radio & blinders had no sound.
Really?
I have a new battery. Good connections to the radio. Still have the issue.
I I have a question
My service airbag light keeps coming on and making that stupid beep noise how do i turn it off
Go pull your radio fuse. Make sure it isn’t blown. And put it back in. You’re welcome lol.
No is not always true, it's not just the battery. I changed my battery and still didn't fix the problem. There are plugs in the doors that could possibly be wet as well.
weak battery? maybe your right I don't know. but the car runs on the alternator once it's started, not the battery.
I got all the sounds but i cant turn the radio volume up and down and i got a 2016 silverado
Nope not the problem
God bless you man 🙏
Flip the battery on it side to remove flip the new battery on the side to install no need to remove the overflow😊
I have starting chime and turning signal works but radio doesn’t
Theres a big rectangle connector for the radio that should be underneath the glove box, they're known to come loose over time, cant guarantee that's your issue but I'd definitely check that before anything else, theres videos on youtube for that issue as well. A lot of people have luck just unplugging it and plugging it back in nice and tight, keep us updated on if you find the issue! I had no idea there were so many different electrical gremlins with these trucks until I saw how many comments there were here of people having all sorts of issues with their radios. Your findings would be very helpful for everyone! Good luck!
I have a 2023 and and i am having this little problem
I try this on my 2014 Chevy Silverado LT in still didn’t work so if any can help me please
Me too
I have 2015 GMC Canyon and same thing happens to me. Replaced battery. Even a new battery will do this if the truck sits too long in the cold and get run down. Beware that your automatic all wheel drive will not work as well. I found out during a snowstorm. GM should correct as this is a dangerous fault. Dealers are aware but say they have no fix.
But I live in GA an this problem started in the summer
I live in Ga too so its not the cold weather.. i replace the battery, alternator and check fuses. Did you find a fix
@@gemini4real apparently the dealer has to update it cause there's s recall on the radio
@@Mazgaus thanks I'll take it this weekend
I put in a new battery and it still the same.. no sound
Man it’s a 110 here in Alabama and I have farted around with my suburban for 3 hours and this makes sense…. I would think for 70,000 they could have a low batt light on the dash…
2015 Silverado having all these issues. On occasion the doors won’t unlock after parking either.
