I was five. My Grandma and I walked and as we did we would sing this song! It was also her queue for me to hold her hand. I know, sappy, but I miss her.
The Elvis tune that went live earlier was missing the intro (just an editing mistake on my part) so I've deleted it and will put it up in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile, here's some fab four! :)
@@TAmns7 when you've got your E and A shape barre chords under your fingers and thought that you're all set to be play whatever you want but then discover C-shape barre chords😐 They sound great but man fingers are not doing what they're supposed to do. It's all the pain like with F chord once again
@wyatt scott You mean I can't make it easy for myself? I think I am a great guitar player. I sometimes take the low e off my guitar as well. You should try it.
@wyatt scott The reason I take the 2 e strings off, is that I can't get on with them in guitar tuning. , so I just leave 4 strings on and tune it like a banjo. It was my Dad's old guitar, he bought it new in 1959. It's just stuck up in the shed most of its time. I'm not even sure what make it is, I think it has gibson on the headstock and some fancy writing with it. Never really got on with it.
Nope. Currently doing an ear and detailed tutorial study of "I Want to Hold Your Hand". Playing it as Lennon -rhythm, & Harrison -lead fills, did on the recording, a staccato half bar of a B power barre chord alternating to a staccato half bar of a B7 barre chord is played during the verses, the progression repeated twice each verse between each chorus and for the final verse. B7 first form is only played once -in the coda, again as prominently emphasised staccato (by Lennon). Justin's lesson above is a very easy open chord substituted & simplified single acoustic guitar (campfire) version. Much as The Beatles loved to use B7 e.g. "You're Going to Lose That Girl" & Bm e.g. "She Loves You", it's definitely not the money chord of this song. Lennon's Dm/F to G6 in the middle eight along with his rockin' powerful downstrokes of the C prior to the D rock 'n rolling the D with his banjo D voicing pinky at its end before returning to the verse are. FMM, pick any one of those three.
One of my favorite teachers on RUclips. Justin has really made a big difference in actually teaching me how to play my first 14 months. I still suck but I'm definitely getting better. So, Thank you.
Really a fun song to play. Thank you very much Justin. You brought back my believe in my abilities: I'm playing guitar for more than 20 years now but got stucked somewhere along the line and never got better than an advanced beginner. Starting all over new with your beginner & intermediate courses I was (and still am) able to find out what I was doing right and wrong. You can't imagine how much my playing improved and how much fun it is now to progress after all these years. I owe you a lot !!!
DO all the beatles!! I know hundreds of songs is a lot of work. I guess that means you better get to it! Seriously I love the lesson. Not too dumbed down and still achievable.
Excellent as always Justin. I also think your singing is getting better, either that or your more confident these days. Anyway, really appreciate the time and effort you put into your lessons. Cheers.
Thank you for this great guitar tutorial on one of my favorite Beatles songs. I hope one day you make an advance tutorial on this song elaborating some more on the "Arpeggio style of playing" in the middle and especially on the "12 Bar Blues style" of playing the chords. Thanks again.
Hey Justin. I stumbled on your tutorial videos a few days ago! Well presented and easy to follow; helping me immensely. Thanks a lot and keep them coming.
Brilliant Justin, as usual. Great trick to get the metallic effect as can be heard in the original is to bring your strumming hand nearer to the bridge than usual and strum away as normal. Enjoy, have fun, Justin is a Guitar Hero. Go to his site.
Amazing tutorial my friend, thanks 🙏🏻 that singing Chords are so cool hahaha!! Specially when you sing that G chord sounds awesome you got my like. 😉😀 blessings to you and Family ✌🏻🙏🏻✌🏻
OK looks like what he plays in the record version (12 bar blues version) is just the E minor 7th and A minor 7th shap es at the G,D,E,B positions with a blues hammer on with each cord. So EM7 shape bar on the 3rd fret, Am7 shape bar on the 5th fret, Am7 shaped bard on the 7th fret and Em7 shaped bar on the 7th fret.
Hi Justin, can you teach me how to play the electric guitar version of "I Want To Hold Your Hand" basic & in how many weeks I will learn the chords to full of that song ???
Through the way you teach and your personality I have improved my guitar playing and barre chords. I have a question, at 10:02 you seem to play a G7 Barre chord but what are you doing with your little finger?
He's alternating between normal G7 and one with the 5th raised to a 6th - chord name would be "G7add6". Playing like that is the classic way of getting a "blues shuffle" going.
Oh yeah G Tell you D Chord I think you under B7 when G say that D Chord (E Minor) I wanna hold your B7 I wanna D your G Minor (C) *_*I wanna D your G_** (D Minor) And when I G you I feel C Chord in A Minor (D Minor) It's such a G Chord that my C I can't D CD CD CD CD
Love your videos! I've been playing a few months but I'm having issues with counting from the last G in the chorus, C D G Em C D G ( right here) back to the verse. I can play the down down up up down up pattern for the verse. So essential it's G back to the beginning G. It doesn't sound right to me to count 4 beats on the last chorus G then to the other strumming pattern. Any advice would be great! And keep making great videos!
Hi Chris, no doubt, I have studied the whole course by Justin, but now I want to play tunes very close to the original, and find Cifra Club more detailed and easier to follow, they actually give tabs and strumming patterns along. Thank you for you note.
I'm not a beginner but I'm not brilliant and stuff like this is really good I've only just got back into playing and this is one of the few songs I wanted to Lear and could because I'm missing a string:/
I was five. My Grandma and I walked and as we did we would sing this song! It was also her queue for me to hold her hand. I know, sappy, but I miss her.
Wayne Woodward more heartwarming than sappy.
Something I definitely want to steal in the future and do with my family :)
🥺
Not sappy! Beautiful 💕.
aww that's so cute , i'm sorry for loss.
The Elvis tune that went live earlier was missing the intro (just an editing mistake on my part) so I've deleted it and will put it up in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile, here's some fab four! :)
Good lesson, I'm just pleased there's no 'F' in it !
F > B7

@wyatt scott No, it's far too difficult. I just took the top e string off. I don't know why more players don't do this.
@wyatt scott You mean I can't make it easy for myself? I think I am a great guitar player. I sometimes take the low e off my guitar as well. You should try it.

singing the name of the chord so you know exactly when it comes in is such a good didactic tool
wish people would grow up
I like how Justin explains the different ways you can play songs to make them more interesting...
That B(7) Chord is the MONEY CHORD of the song, always has been, always will be. Forever.

I have played this on my acoustic, but it sounds SO much better on my semi-hollow or my telecaster. Great lesson, Justin!! Cheers, mate!! :)
Thanks Justin. It's good to hear musicians spread the joy. Now I know the intro, and I plan to use this next Saturday nite. Thumbs up, lad.

I think he is skipping a beat when he explains the intro. I'm trying to figure it out myself
Is there something out there for the original Version with barre chords and the small lick within?
Can only find covers sadly
I like hitting the base string first!
hi could you please tell me how to play the intro that you play please, x
justin is boss
Good thumbs-up
Nice tune, thx
thanks so much!!!!!
thanks!
Love this mate..... Bijou
You are incredible 😍
The first B chord on the word Understand should be a Bm. The B7 comes on the word Hand.
That first B chord on "understand" should be a Bm followed by B7 on "hand". It resolves better,
Hey, would be really useful if you put up chord diagrams as you played them for those of us that are still really bad at remembering chords...
+Ed Stedman much much better for you to remember the chords - which is why I don't! :)
Can you show us how you hold the B7 chord?
I think I got it- 2nd fret on the A string, 1st fret on the D string, 2nd fret on the G string and leave the B string open?
Can you do "Hello Goodbye" by The Beatles?
very nice, thanks much!!
I'm not a beginner but I'm not brilliant and stuff like this is really good I've only just got back into playing and this is one of the few songs I wanted to Lear and could because I'm missing a string:/
Goooooo justin
