While I was never a Beatles fan (growing up in the Punk/New Wave era) I have spent the last month locked down in Thailand practicing 'I want to Hold Your Hand' and 'All My Loving' using Mike's tutorials. I have gained a new respect for Lennon & Co. but above all an appreciation for the time (and love) that Mike puts into his videos.

You’ve helped me discover my love for music and my God given talent. Growing up in New York suburbia, a childhood friend had a pool table and a jukebox as well as a bar in his basement. (I think it was a mob hangout! Lol). When I hear “I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND” It takes me right back to the warm fuzzy feeling of a child hearing the Beatles for the first time. You have helped me to get that warm fuzzy feeling once again. Thank you thank you thank you!

For many decades I've been flommoxed by the intro. I know it was because I was counting it in wrong, but never drilled down to figure it out. Mike's simple words "it starts on the 'and of 3'" opened it up for me. Thanks, Mike.
As a seasoned guitar player that's been baptized by The Beatles over the past couple of years, you've made the journey even more sweet. I love the history lessons and passion for the songs and music. Your attention to detail and obsession for the right notes has really helped me to appreciate the genius of John and George, especially. Thank you for teaching and inspiring us. Great work!
I was a teenager when The Beatles exploded across America. I always knew that they were special but it took me years to understand just how musically innovative and inventive they really were. Their music seemed simple but it was actually amazingly complex, as I learned as a guitar student. They well deserve the title of Greatest Rock and Roll Band of All Time.
I was 10 or 11 and first saw them on the Jack Parr show singing "She Loves You". I was hooked and sI till am all these years later. Many have come and gone and influenced my playing but I still respect them the most for reintroducing us to artists in North America and for being so unique.
My favorite parts of this song come from George's parts. I feel the real genius regarding the guitar playing came from George. He was a very young man playing at the level of a very seasoned guitar player. His instinct when it came to what a song needed was a step above most at that time.
Absolutely! It still amazes me when I listen to the early Beatles how AMAZINGLY tasteful George was. He had such restraint for a young man. He never 'show boated.' Just found magical little bits that add so much to each song. George was truly a genius guitarist at a young age. Touché to your ears for being able to hear it!

the more i learn about them...the more i see WHY they were so great TOGETHER. Each one of them naturally knew HOW to use the rhythm...the essence of the song and ADD to it with UNDERSTATEMENT and creativity. John with his rhythm guitar. George with his lead guitar, Paul and his bass and yes--even Ringo--maybe ESPECIALLY Ringo and his unique drumming style that was the glue and the perfect man for the job. Simply remarkable--the young ages, the era of time (60's), their natural fit. Truly lightning and magic in a bottle called: The Beatles.
I like how John slides his voice seamlessly between notes almost like his voice is a fluid melting into the next pitch. He does that on other songs too and it sounds like he maybe hits some passing quartertones that give melodies some extra tension and texture.
Thanks Mike - I've learned a lot from your tutorials, not least that John was more of a guitar player than I initially gave him credit for. His rhythm playing is the real driving force of many of The Beatles' hits from the 'touring years'. Thanks for providing this valuable service - it helps keeps the interest alive in 'forever beginner' players like me.
The guitar that Lennon used for I Want to Hold Your Hand was the Model 325C58, which he acquired in Hamburg, and which had an alder body. His preferred guitar was the 325C64, which he acquired in Miami in February 1964, and which had a maple body. Pachelli is using the Miami one. Most players find the 325 easier to play than a 25.25-inch- scale guitar. If you take a standard-scale guitar and capo on the third fret, then you've got the feel. I use GHS Boomer 50 36 26 15 18 11 for tension that matches 42 32 24 16 11 09 on a standard scale guitar. Lennon was the unsurpassed genius of rhythm guitar. This is a really good instruction video.

The thoroughness of your lessons are GREATLY appreciated. Especially playing in a band with two guitarists. Knowing both parts is incredibly helpful. Thank you!
Mike, once again your insight and careful analysis reveals accurate performance, fingering and another stupendous video. Much appreciated, from all of us out here who've watched you over the years but never chime in. I'm one of them. I can't tell you how much enjoyment your shares of your observations and understanding of the Beatles in performance brings, as well as your excellent musicianship. Always a worthwhile education and entertaining! You're the go to guy for the music, for those who love it as deeply as you do, to know that we can play it accurately. Many thanks.
George always knew what to tastefully leave out while other players were cramming it in! Pure brilliance! To my mind a truly talented and one of the greatest composers and players of our times
Incredible how this recording stands up today. What a sound. There is no mystery why this record took the world by storm. Thanks Mike, you are a treasure.
@@MPfrance I loved it! And I agree that this song probably wouldn't have been the hit it was without Lennon's great playing, I would say the same for Harrison's great playing. (I am pretty sure you'd agree) The parts of this song that stick in my brain are George's. The song is kind of made by George's little fills. What a band. I don't think it it's possible to remove any of the parts without diminishing the song by a significant extent. Just an astounding recording.
I agree totally with your comment about the importance of this song. To me I Want to Hold Your Hand and I Saw Her Standing There were the real game changers. This sound defined the early Beatles. The sound of the guitars and the harmonies were unlike anything we had heard before. Obviously there are many, many terrific songs in the Beatles history but these are the ones that blew them up. At least to me they did. Thanks for posting this. You do an amazing job on their material.
Thanks for the kudos and I totally agree with you! We've already recorded the drums and bass for "I Saw Her Standing There" and I'll get to doing the video as time allows.
If I ever want to learn a Beatles song, I ALWAYS go to your channel. I love how you give the story behind the song. I also know you give lessons faithful to how they were originally played. Most others have the right chords, more or less, but don’t give the little details that you do. I just ordered a Harley Benton black Chickenbacker and this is the first song I want to record on it. Thanks Mike!!!!!!
Exactly - it's like Ringo - he wasn't a drummer, he was a composer. His drumming patterns are so unique that a lot of them can be recognized without the music.
@wayne pitty yeah..his picking on I feel Fine..how bout ..Yer Blues..All my Loving...I could go on and on..He was a Great Songwriter..Very Good Singer and Very Good Guitarist...all around ..what he contributed can not be overstated..
I would suggest that this is where George Martin played his part by showing embellished and chord voicings. Remember it was not that long that they had travelled to the other side of Liverpool because they heard that another guitar player new "B7"😳
Fantastic, Mr. Pachelli! Even though I can't play a musical instrument I am such a fan of your videos and was delighted to see that you'd created one for this song. I've loved the Beatles all my life and, with your remarkable skill, expertise and delivery, you enhance my appreciation of what they achieved -- something that I'd previously have thought impossible. Thank you very much.

I heard Peter Asher talk about how John and Paul wrote this on a piano and that Peter was the first person to hear it as they performed it to him side by side on the Asher family piano. In my opinion John’s bouncy rhythm emulates the way it would be played on a piano. Again great job here!
Mike that was tremendous! You putting all the parts together at the end with vocals and harmonies was out of sight! ...great guitar playing and vocals and harmonies! ...really enjoyed that. Thanks. God Bless, Mario

Thank you Mike another great lesson in Beatles playing and history, It always amazes me how John came up with such interesting and intricate chord changes, he was such a good guitar player, people have no idea
Mike, sometimes it takes while for me to find sites such as yours. What a surprise when I stumbled upon you. I'm an old fart now (tho' still 21 y.o. inside), but was 11 y.o. in 1964 when the Beatles showed up on Ed Sullivan. I can only imagine how you felt the first time you heard "I wanna hold your hand." It was the same for me. You're so thoughtful to put out such thorough demonstrations. I've subscribed to lots of sites, but none as intricate and patient as yours. BTW, your tenor voice really makes it all come alive! Too bad you're in SOF, now. There's something about being an ex-pat which makes one's pride in America come out. Don't you think? Thanks for the hard work you must put in on the Beatles songs. The backstories help so much. A demain.
As a 65 year old guy I always liked this song cause, like you said, it started the British invasive. Weird thing is, after seeing that Munster's episode with the Standells doing this song, I can't unsee Herman grooving to it every time I hear it
Have you ever heard this song played on piano..? The melody lines are breathtakingly beautiful. Only The Beatles could find a melody this beautiful out of a standard chord template like this.
John and Paul actually wrote this song on the piano in the basement of the the Asher's in London. Paul was dating Peter Asher's (Peter & Gordon) sister, Jane and living in the Asher's house at the time.
What's TRULY remarkable about it all, is that, as far as the playing, certainly all four must have basically just 'jammed' all this and their other songs out; they didn't have to transcribe or read musical chords, they just "did it" - they were SO good, they could just come into the studio and create greatness just on the fly. Yeah, they may have had to do multiple takes to get a song right, but even THEN it was improvisation and just perfecting it as they played along, each one just knowing how to "answer" the other 3. THAT is how TRUE greats do it.
Thank you for the forensics, your work will always be referenced by students and educators as it is most accurate of all musical aspects and magical evolution the beatles brought to mankind.

For the last two weeks I’ve been getting out of work, getting home, having a spot of dinner, a quick shower and then I fire up the kettle for a nice warm mug of earl grey pull up a nice 4k fire place on RUclips to crackle on my 55 inch TV and then while sitting cozy with my dog curled up next to me I learn a Beatles song a night taught by the wonderful Mike Pachelli and it has been a highlight of my evenings. Thank you Mike, 🙏
You are most welcome - glad to be of some help - and please subscribe to my RUclips channel. My new posts will appear in your RUclips feed.

You put out so much effort in getting every note and revisting the history of the song. A damn you do it with so much enthusiasm
Thanks David. I appreciate that! And yes - I work my tail off to get these lessons as accurate as possible. If you'd like to show your support - there's a donate button and/or charts & tabs to download at www.MikePachell.com
Thanks for your consideration!
The thoroughness of your lessons are GREATLY appreciated. Especially playing in a band with two guitarists. Knowing both parts is incredibly helpful. Thank you!
Thanks! Means a lot to me hearing that I'm some assistance to you playing these great songs!!
Glad you enjoyed it
@@MPfrance I loved it!
I don't think ANYONE has more fun than you! Congrats!
This series of lessons is superior guitar instruction. Just great. Thanks so much.
You are so talented. One guy being the whole Beatles! And sounding amazingly like them.
These chords are absurd for 1963. John doesn’t get enough credit as a guitar player
He did a lot of banjo chord shit.
Exactly - it's like Ringo - he wasn't a drummer, he was a composer. His drumming patterns are so unique that a lot of them can be recognized without the music.
@@thebeatlesonblank2227 It was banjo chord, but it was far from shit. Lennon was a very unorthodox musician.
You are most welcome and thanks for those VERY kind words!
I want to shake your hand...brilliant lesson for an amazingly arranged song, thanks
Mike, I like the little stories behind the songs, as a 30 year's Beatles fan I am amazed to discover new facts and anecdotes. The lessons are great and they inspire me a lot! Thanks for your wonderful videos.
You can see he is truly loving what he is doing. It is done very well a musical detective who shares with all very cool and much appreciated.
Amazing! Almost 60 years later, people are still wanting to learn Beatle songs. 👍😁
Wow, that is awesome.I am very humble to see how much technique is in that song.
Yes! They were QUITE amazing at making complicated things (for 1963) seem simple!!
Excellent history explanation and musical instruction about the The Beatles' song "I want to Hold Your Hand", Mike Pachelli. Thank you.
You're like the best Beatle guitar teacher here on RUclips! Thanks for all of your effort, it helps so much. Love how you show us the insights of each songs! Cheers Mike. Love from Toronto xx
GREAT job, Mike. Been playing guitar, piano, and bass a long, long time -- but you lay it out so clearly. And I didn't know you could sing!!!
Beautiful, great stuff Mike!! I'm not a guitar player myself but a great Beatles fan certainly yes and you make me rekindle and get deeper into the emotion of these guys' musical genius.
Thanks a lot!
I really enjoy to watch MP's Beatles lesson videos. I am always learning something new.
I heard Peter Asher talk about how John and Paul wrote this on a piano and that Peter was the first person to hear it as they performed it to him side by side on the Asher family piano. In my opinion John’s bouncy rhythm emulates the way it would be played on a piano. Again great job here!
Mike, thanks for sharing your talents. Superb instruction!
Great video!!! You always have the best Lessons for Beatles songs. I wish all other guitar lessons to be like yours
Mike that was tremendous! You putting all the parts together at the end with vocals and harmonies was out of sight! ...great guitar playing and vocals and harmonies! ...really enjoyed that. Thanks. God Bless, Mario
Astonishing chord sequence, as soon as you play them the Beatles sound comes alive. Great stuff!
Great lesson of the Beatles with those great sounding guitars nicely done mp
Mike,
This is so awesome! You can hear and reproduce every note they play! I'm not anywhere near your level, but I love watching you dismantle and reassemble these songs! Thank you thank you! Btw, I just sent in a donation. Your work deserves $$$

Jay - Thanks SO very much for your continued support. I wish there were more folks like you that don't expect these lessons to be completely free of charge.
Mike, your exuberance and deep knowledge of all this stuff is so very compelling. Thanks for lighting up my dusky November evening! Brian
Mike you’re the best. Your joy of music is infectious.
At 64 years old I thought I knew the tune pretty good ! I see where I was messing up ! Never too old to learn ! Great job ! Thanks !
I'm 64 as well guess you can teach us old dogs new tricks .
I love this channel more and more every time I tune in.
Thanks a lot doctor Pachelli, you nailed it!
Glad it was helpful!
As a Brit I absolutely love your passion for the Beatles. Keep up the great work you’re worth your weight in gold mate. 👍👍👍👍
Enormous performance Mike. Kudos!
Excellent breakdown of a classic Beatles tune Mike! Thanks! You absolutely nailed it! Gives me a renewed appreciation for those older tunes by the Fab Four!😊👍🎼
Thank you Mike another great lesson in Beatles playing and history, It always amazes me how John came up with such interesting and intricate chord changes, he was such a good guitar player, people have no idea
You are welcome. And I think people with 'ears' actually do get it!
Subscribed!!! Breakfast with the Beatles this morning a must in the NY area and now this great lesson.what a Sunday thanks again Mike .
Weird thing is, after seeing that Munster's episode with the Standells doing this song, I can't unsee Herman grooving to it every time I hear it
Excellent! I played in a Beatles cover band after high school back in 1967.
Excellent Mike.👍👍🎸🎸🎸🥁
Mike outstanding work that reverse bend by George in 1963 blows my mind. Plus the wonderful harmonies on G and J guitars stunning.thank you sir
Have you ever heard this song played on piano..? The melody lines are breathtakingly beautiful. Only The Beatles could find a melody this beautiful out of a standard chord template like this.
Much of their material sounds great on piano.
John and Paul actually wrote this song on the piano in the basement of the the Asher's in London. Paul was dating Peter Asher's (Peter & Gordon) sister, Jane and living in the Asher's house at the time.
@@scottblackhoyt Wow it all makes sense. thx for the heads up:)
Best lesson I've ever seen for this, you rock Mike!
Thanks for the dissection of the song, just goes to show how creative they really were. But then again, so are you!
Mike very nice this is pretty much the way I play it. When I first heard it, it was brand new, yea I go back a ways, been a Beatles fan ever since.
Thank you for the forensics, your work will always be referenced by students and educators as it is most accurate of all musical aspects and magical evolution the beatles brought to mankind.
ray conway - you are most welcome and thank YOU for those very kind words!
I’m really impressed not only with your guitar playing and singing but your mixing and video editing is superb, keep this up and you will have 100,000 subscribers very quick as word gets around. This is some of the best music production on RUclips. Keep it up Mike. Hates off to you friend.
This is fantastic Mike, thanks! As a lifelong Beatles fanatic and fellow musician, I have been puzzled for years about how John got that absolutely unique sound to his guitar and you finally made it clear to me, it was his totally unique way of playing rhythm. So cool! George's parts are so tasteful, subtle and brilliant.
Wow Mike, you are so awesome the way you get into it. You are very talented, and a blast to watch, as you piece the songs together. It was also so much fun watching you sing, doing vocals, so into it, it sucks me into it!!! Your just an awesome musician, keep going, lots of peeps will learn from these fantastic vidio's....what more can one say, I could keep going with the praises....Go Mike, Go baby!!!......🍁leiferickson
Great Mike! I really love your explanation of how these great songs are structured, played and mixed. Thanks for your efforts.
The best example and lesson. Thanks for teaching this great song.
WOW!............FANtastic......really well done MIKE.......FAB.
Please show us “Come Together” and “Dig A Pony” oh yeah and “Ballad Of John And Yoko”
I love that you show each part accurate to how they played it. It’s interesting and educational to see their style.
If not for people like you keeping this music alive it would surely fade away! Thank you so much. I'm a bit on the older side so I see how much music has changed. You sir are providing a blueprint of how it was done and how it should be. Thank you so much.
By far one of the best tutorial teachers on RUclips.
Absolutely fantastic Presentation. Many thanks. YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is fantastic. You’ve captured all the nuances and chord positions perfectly. Thank you
Thanks for this outstanding tutorial Mike. So effective and congenial.
A great tutorial of what is a culturally significant song. Man, they were good!.
i'm really enjoying the videos. i play left handed and when you show the fingering of your left hand it's like i'm looking in a mirror of my right hand so that really helps me get it. thnx so much.
i'm gonna work on getting this tune down, i can also do some singing and hand clapping.
That was great, all these years I been playing with a B-minor instead of a b7 on the chorus.
Just love the end performances.
JJ
Fantastic stuff Mike. Love it
Thank you for this Mike.. I am finally getting serious about learning to truly play.. I have three guitars.. 2 electric and a Taylor acoustic. I acquired GAS even before I could legitimately consider myself a player! Wish I had you as my instructor.. be Well!
Frank from Boulder, Colorado
You can do it!
Mike it would be great if you did a video showing us all of your wonderful Beatles guitars.
