I'm a retired Navy Pilot who flew low level in the Vancouver area, beautiful is an understatement. Currently live in Northern Virginia the Washington DC area. My kids call me old school because I love wagons. As a Naval aviator I have no need to impress anyone. When I first saw the Panamera Turismo I feel in love. Just call me "old school" but this is not my Dad's Ford LTD station wagon with the fake wood siding. Have Gun Will Travel... TJ
Terrance Jones I
I ordered a Sport Turismo Turbo today, 8/14/17. I used to own an Audi S6 Avant (because they wouldn't sell an RS6 Avant in the USA "Americans don't buy wagons") and I miss its utility. SUV's are just too big for me, as I only need room for two bikes inside. Colorado mountains are calling. Turbos are a "must have" up here. Love this Porsche offering!
When will you get yours? I ordered my ST Turbo a week ago.
Fred Kiekhaefer I just made a comment mentioning the existence of RS6(outside of the US LOL), glad to know you owned a S6 avant !
Cheers
Hello sir,
I have 2 questions for you.
First question: what do you do for living?
Second question: Can we work together or would you train me to be rich?
Sport Turismo over the sedan 100%. I didn't serious consider the Panamera until I saw the Turismo. Stunning, and it doesn't look like it's trying to be a 4 door 911.
Doesn't have the Transformers wing, though.
I didn't consider a Porsche until the Sport Turismo.
i'm amazed by the ability of motoman to remember all the figures live, and especially to convert from cm to inches live when describing rotor sizes.
I would take the Sport Tourismo because im from Germany and almost 20% of all new registered cars here are station wagons, they are just more practical :D
Sport Turismo definitely way better looking than the sedan. In fact, I'm moving from owning a 2015 Panamera 4 to the 2018 Panamera 4 Sport Turismo E-Hybrid.
I would have the Sport Turismo Turbo. I really wish they mad the Turbo S E Hybrid in Sport Turismo form. There is something about being able to cruise back into your hometown in complete silence after making loads of noise along country B roads. I am from the UK.
Could not agree more.
Charles Marcus Davey What about the C roads?
Charles Marcus Davey Turbo S E Hybrid Sport Turismo will be announced end of next week in Frankfurt IAA fair.
and here it is
If I could only have one car for the rest of my life, I think it would be the Sport Turismo e-Hybrid. It's got everything!
I bought the 2.9 hybrid It is jaw droppingly good , I love it
I own an E class wagon.... I will be buying the Sport Turismo Turbo. I'm from North Dakota, USA.
CAPTAIN LEAF BP sadly there's no HD truck by Porsche ;-)
Such knowledgeable videos, very interesting. Always like your vids
I just bought a Pan Turbo Sport Turismo and love it. I live in midwest region of the US.
yes I want one, I love the wagon that I have right now it just really needs work 2002 Ford Focus wagon. and New Mexico ABQ
This because it beautiful!
Maryland US
Ok - I am getting a 2018 Sport Turismo Turbo- yes used - with Cohiba brown interior. So excited - can't wait. I live in NC - USA
I'd buy the SportTurismo YES, because it's a very astonishing and beautiful piece of a 5 doors shooting brake .. I don't think that they're gonna sell of that more than the sedan, but what a car and what a design.
Riyadh - Saudi Arabia
Well, thanks for finally sitting in the back seat and showing us the packaging. Well done,
Colorado, here. Will go for the Sport Truismo as soon as the ehybrid Executive Turbo is available here. Hopefully next year.
I would buy this and I live in Florida. I enjoy the out doors and this car would be the perfect size and style for me and my photography and fishing gear. Thank you for your presentation and in-depth information they are always helpful which leads to a more clear idea of what to choose.
Australia and yes I love the sport tourismo and would choose it. I've been in the sedan version and to be honest, it's a beautiful car too.
This is still my dream car for daily!
I would definitely buy the Sport Turismo over the standard Panamera. It is beautiful! And the standard version, although a great car, is not. I appreciate the extra functionality of the Sport Turismo as well. I love the V8 version (what a sound!), but for practical reasons would probably have to buy the V6. As you requested, I live in Philadelphia, PA
I'd choose the wagon. My first car was a wagon and ever since I've only bought wagons. I currently own an early 2000s Volvo V40 T4 (the sporty version) because I'm a Volvo fan. I can't buy a car that is a version with less space. Feels like a step back. Plus, I generally like the way wagons look more. Forgot to add, I'm from Transylvania, Romania, Eastern Europe.
My next car no doubt.love station wagons, all the way from California!!!
I'de have the Panamera turbo executive w. ceramic breaks that I saw in Stuttgart while visiting their museum. Stockholm-Sweden. Also I rented a 740 this spring in Florida for 3 weeks, witch was an overkill for one person. But Hertz didn't have the CTS that I orded.
Thank you for the review and opportunity for feedback. I hail from Kansas and currently own a 2010 Panamera 4S. I would 100 opt for the sedan over the Turismo. For me it is style over added function. The additional space isn’t worth loosing the sportier look of the sedan. Although historically controversial, I am one who likes the looks of the sedan and feel it is lost in the Turisimo. Either way, the Panamera is my favorite purchase. I can hold my family and own a beautiful luxury performance car. I have looked ar the 2018 and like you morn the loss of toggle switches and buttons. In a few years when used models become available, I may revisit the option, but today, you would have to pry my cold dead hands from the wheel to get me out of that car.
I'd choose the Sport Turismo, because it looks sexy and it's practical, and I'm from Sydney Australia.
Live in SoCal. Had 2 WRX wagons and now have a 911. Drooled over the Ferrari FF but can't afford one. The sport tourism is as close as I can afford to get. I want one with RWD and you didn't mention it's AWD only. Love the shooting brake. Like a big Z3 M Coupė
I think I'll go with either the ST or the Executive, the standard SWB Panamera looks too weird for me.
I find it odd the trunk floor is not covered in wood like in the CLS Shooting Brake ... Missed opportunity, Porsche!
Looking forward to hear your thoughts about the interior in September.
As always, excellent work, M!
Awesome vehicle, gorgeous Shooting-Brake Estate Variant
This thing convinced me to buy one
yes yes but please i want to see how the door looks like when you open it, the sound when you close it and oh i maybe crazy, but its matter how easy to get in or out the car. it is a must when reviewing a car. i hope to see that in your next review.
I ordered my Sport Turismo Hybrid (my 3rd Panny) because of the rear bench seat, so that my large dog has a place to lie. I'm from Montreal, QC. I have to admit, that the looks of the Turismo are growing on me as well. Nice review!
Kingston, Jamaica, and this is automatically my new dream car - good move from Porsche
Over here in Germany, the streets are still crowded with station wagons (or Kombis, as we like to call them). Thus, I would still prefer the sexier and more 911-ish premium look of the sedan. The few more cubic feet don't matter that much.
Deine Reviews sind erstklassig, MotoMan!
This time I have a question for you: When you compared the 7-Series / S-Class wheelbase to the Panameras one, did you compare the US-standard LWB numbers? The Sport Turismo is only available with a short wheelbase, so it would make more sense to compare the SWB version of the competitors even if they aren't available in the US.
You are correct, the comparison is to the US models. Sadly, we do not receive the short wheelbase models in the US.
It's just that it sounds like a huge deficit of the Panamera when it's ''7-8 inches shorter'' than it's rivals, when it really isn't...kinda?
I would choose the Sport Turismo as I need the space, the practicality. I live in the South of the U.S. I am a huge car guy, everything must be modified in some way. Absolutely must have the Techart Grand GT version of this!
Would definitely the sports turismo, looks so much better. Greets from Germany
I like both the Sedan and the Sport Turismo, at the end of the day the Sedan speaks more to my soul than the ST. Not that I can currently afford either car. Denver Colorado.
I would definitely choose the Sport Turismo over the "hatchback". I had the last American derivation: Cadillac CTS-V wagon (with even more power/torque ;-) Still regret selling it. If the Audi RS6 was available in the states, I'd be at my dealer tomorrow. My only issue with this thing is price - ugh. I'm fortunate to be able to afford these things, but there is absolutely no rationale for a car of this price.
Northern Nevada is my home and the roads that surround me are perfect for this Porsche Estate Wagon. I think this car is not only beautiful, it's an engineering marvel as well.
This is not a Turbo S. The S Hybrid is not available as a Sport Turismo yet.
I’m about to purchase a Panamera GTS over the Turbo. I am from Canada but spending more time in the Sunshine state. I absolutely love the Sport Turismo more than the non ST.
bar far one of the best car channels around, the only other shooting Brake on this level is Ferrari FF / GTC no? I agree with you niche market 😀
Aston Martin Rapide S
I just bought the 2.9 hybrid tourismo in dark grey I am knocked out by it I live in Iteland☘️🇮🇪👍 I too am speechless with excitementI traded my 2015 Panamera 3.0 diesel there is no comparison.
The sport tourism. I like the look. Hyattsville, MD
I'm from Argentina. Yes I would totally buy this over the regular Panamera if I could, I think this is the way Porsche should approach things from scratch. It's elegant, practical and it has great perfirmance. What more could you possibly want?
Love your show, love that you are enjoying my home country, but would love a review done in Toronto to Sault Ste Marie to Timmins northern Ontario Canada in a new NSX REVIEW.
Don't remember exactly where this was, but it was north of Toronto in Ontario - stunning lakes! ruclips.net/video/Lg3V3AS-LyY/видео.html
MotoManTV awesome, possibly Muskoka (cottage country), but along Lake Superior is very mountainous and beautiful beaches great for sight seeing and great test for testing handling.
MM: you internal mic cuts in and out. I noticed it also on your race track video.
Dutch guy here! I would have the Sport Turismo, because it's amazingly special.
I had owned more than 10 Porsche vehicles including the gen 1 Panamera. Mr. Motorman is correct, the Sport Turismo has a strong unique appeal.
My dilemma is between the next new 911 in 2019 or this. From Hong Kong
I would also have the Sport Turismo Turbo (SE Hybrid) because it is the most versatile. You can drop the rear seats put a mountain bike in there and head off. I am from the U.K. It also looks wicked.
I'm from Portugal. I usually dislike station wagons, but this Sport Turismo is a delight to look at. I would certainly buy one, probably the 4s (with the 2.9 V6) or the E-Hybrid (2.9 V6 Hybrid).
Full-Fat Panamera Turbo S e-Hybrid Sport Turismo now available, at least in the UK!
www.evo.co.uk/porsche/panamera/20069/porsche-panamera-sport-turismo-turbo-s-e-hybrid-revealed
Would be interesting to compare this to M-B CLS 63 S Shooting Brake... which, I believe, is not available in US?
never a sedan, always station wagon! From Sweden.
Porche Panamera Sport Turismo Turbo with the 2 seats in back. No question. I drive a Skoda Superb V6 AWD Combi (Station Wagon) and a few mid engine sports cars. Went from Saab to Skoda and I can fit stuff in the vehicle when we go to the mountains. From Australia.
That's one cool wagon.....
I would choose a Mercedes CLS shooting brake, because it's available here in Australia at HALF the price. In fact, my father recently bought a CLS500 SB (with the 4.7L V8 TT) and it's a pleasure to drive!
I would choose the sport Turismo over the standard one. I like the looks of it much better. The new Panamera is a very good looking car and the new wing on the back seat s crazy!
BTW I live in Maryland USA.
Get this FOR SURE..... Ontario Canada.....this thing looks awesome.... so much better looking than the panamera sedan... might even go into my local porsche dealer and have a look at it... though I am nowhere near buy one....
Car guy here and I'm all for the station wagon!
I'd buy the Panamera sedan but ONLY because it comes in e-hybrid form. If the Sport Turismo had the plug-in hybrid option, I would be on the configurator right now. I am from the Rocky Mountain region of the US.
Where is the Turbo S?
The Turbo S doesnt exsist as sport Turismo
I am considering this exact car, a 2018 with low mileage, do you think I can expect decent reliability from it? Thanks.
The wagon, (estate, shooting brake) it looks better, I would like to know if the wagon is a little better aerodynamically. I can also get more stuff in the car. I have a German estate now. Then there is the bigger brakes and a very smart suspension. But not that rear seat, I agree with your choice of rear seat package. Queensland, Australia and you should see some of our stunning scenery too. Great video and I have done the subscribe thing as you instructed.
4300 lbs seems downright svelte compared to the e hybrid version's 5000 plus lbs. Beautiful car. This one is the sweet spot.
I would have the sport Turismo. I love wagons / hatchbacks. I drive a BMW 3series GT now and had 2 Subaru WRX hatchbacks before. This porsche is a perfect next car, or maybe the BMW 640i GT. I live in US - NC.
I would choose the sport turismo, it is so much better looking than the sedan. I think you’re right and this model is going to account for much more than 20%, unless of course they only make 20% which is a Porsche possibility
I agree that Stefan's 20% of overall Panamera sales is an underestimation of how popular the Sport Turismo will be and it's what I'd buy versus the coupe (disclosure: my dream Porsche is Carrera 2WD GTS with manual trans, regular PASM and any murdered-out blackwheel and trim nonsense returned to regular silver and chrome; digression over). The practicality, quasi-shooting brake + performance of the Sport Tursimo pushes my romantic grand turismo motoring travel buttons. I live in NYC but in a year or two will return to my native northern California. Now, mind, if money were truly no object and I wanted to carry 1-3 passengers + some luggage in style in a variety of conditions, I wouldn't get either. I'd forgo rear doors and get a Ferrari GTC4 Lusso.
i'd get the ST but the lack of 5th seat is a huge bummer. I'm in the market for exactly that, and this 4 seat situation rules it out. Leaves me with E class wagon AMG since there is no option for audi RS wagons in the US, which really, really sucks.
Shooting brake for the win! PNW, Washington state.
Gorgeous shot at 14:47 , but would go with the sedan all day just looks sportier
this is the most beautiful car out there
I believe 205 is low. I just sold my 911 turbo s and cayenne turbo. S for the turbo sport turns out.
The new Kia Stinger GT looks like a budget version of this. Got a twin turbo V6, hatchback and all.
It's not underestimated, it's cause offside of north America the grand turismo has an older and cheaper station wagon cousin called the RS6(605HP) .
Personally would take the RS6 over the sport turismo, more power, more practical and still great looks.
But on the other hand, the turbo S will be my way to go, just beats the rest in every aspect. And even the RS7, by a quite good amount, now that I mentioned Audi.
It's strayed you only mentioned BMW, MB, CAD as a comparison... I think the RS6/7 are both a good example for comparison for the turbo s and the sport turismo respectively.
Regards from Costa Rica
My wife is buying this version. However, since we are from the USA, we are calling it a crossover and not a station wagon. How do you vanity plate "family truckster"?
Theme music is close to Digital Rev's opening.
I would prefer the sedan (or limo) simply because I don't need the extra horse power with the Turismo Turbo. Also, I can sit much more comfortably in the Panamera with its slightly less aggressive side bolstering in the seats than the other Porsche models. I have to admit being a fan of all the "techy" features that Porsche offers. Given the cost of ownership with the various Porsche models, I've found that I can easily rationalize the many different optional features. I'm an inmate, er, uh... resident near Sacramento, CA.
I like both of them really much but the spoiler thing on the Sport Turismo is kinda throwing me off.
The ST has a nicer window line but I think I would still go with the normal one.
Panamera is my current "lottery" car :D
I would have the Sports Turismo all day. I think the percentage would be more like 40/60 ST vs Sedan. But I am in the enthusiast crowd, so normal folks might like the sedan more. I am from the US.
Sport Turismo, preferably in the e-hybrid version. When Porsche makes that one available, of course. And I’m from Europe, home of the sporty wagons! lol
Sport Turismo is the one to go for distinctive look, less so for practicality.
Hi MotoMan. Sport Turismo any day. Not only does it look better than the 'Coup' but does everything that version does. I drive a CLS Shooting Brake and to my eye it looks painfully beautiful but is more practical as well - I have a 4 and 10 year old children. I live in England.
I'd choose the sedan. Both cars look great, but for the amount of money i'd be spending, I think the resale value on the sedan would hold up better than the wagon. Tough choice though. I might change my mind a few times before purchasing. :)
Love it.
The success of this product should bring audi's rs6 avant stateside
I’m from Texas and I would take the sport turismo even though I prefer BMW’s. If only bmw made a wagon version of the new M5!
I'd probably choose this over any 4 door non-SUV except maybe the M6 Gran Coupe. Now that I mention it, BMW need to make an M6 Shooting Brake.
I'd take the wagon. On the other hand I'm biased as I currently have a golf r, bmw 328d sport wagon and an Audi rs7. So yes I like hatch/wagons.
I would definitely take the Sport Tourismo over the sedan. It looks better and it more practical with that little bit more boot space over the sedan. I'm from New Zealand by the way.
I would choose the sport turismo because it is better looking and more practical. I live in Chicago metro area.
Yes! yes! yes! This is the car that will start a trend. Beautiful but noble. I want the diesel!!
Regards from Spain
Let me just add
Fuel consumption 6.7mixed
equal to a small/medium car
I would chose this for the extra trunk space. I live in the US.
The review of the rear seats and a review behind the wheel are carried out in different cars. The colors of the salons are different. In the report, no word about it. Why? Thought we wouldn’t notice that? Well, we did. We are accurate observers. So, the next time make your work more precise, please! Greetings from Germany )))
Yup wagon guy here too.. last 'interesting' 'vagen' was my B5 S4 Avant... I'd do this ST in diesel trim for that +600 torques curve. #MachtSchnell
Excellent video sir. Is there a reason why you rather repeat "you & I" so many times, instead of saying "we" or "us"?
Having driven the Panamera 4S (Black) and the Panamera GTS (White) extensively. I am completely biased towards this car. It is a joy to drive and will put a large smile on your face every time. The best daily driver and you never feel it is too heavy.
I would pick the Turismo in Sapphire blue. The Panamera has always been notorious for its looks but I disagree, in a quirky way I loved the past design. The sport turismo for me is what the car should have been all along, a shooting brake with beautiful lines.
Yes, yes we lose the jet style wing and it is a big shame. Porsche please put it on the Sport Turismo Turbo!
Motoman, I helm from Boston, MA
I'd have the sport turismo. Almost any wagon variant looks better to me. The turbo would be amazing but even the base would suffice. I'm in Vermont. Make wagons great again!
Shooting brake. Diesel .Tampa Florida.
Turismo all day! Just sexier! From Montreal Canada
