- It's time to experience the Porsche Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo! Yes, it carries a very long name, and yes it's very similar to my recently sold car that was also blue, sporty and estate-like, but let's take a walkaround of the new Panamera model and then find out what it's like to drive. Do you think this should be a car for me?
Porsche have expanded the Panamera line-up to now include the Sport Turismo model alongside the regular car. Available in a number of engine configurations up to and including the 680PS Turbo S e-Hybrid, but here explored in 550PS 'Turbo' form. The car in question is highly specced but weather winter wheels and tyres as opposed to the regular larger Turbo style option as normal.
Having picked it up in Zuffenhausen, Stuttgart, let's head out to the local roads to explore and get to grips with the new luxury car.

The Sport Turismo is what the Panamera should have always been. It's damn good looking.
This is my dream car right now beating out a GT3 RS and a targa 4s (my close 2nd and 3rd) but only because of its practicality, you're gonna have to get it!

In a nutshell
My guess is that you will wait for a reasonably priced V12 GTC4 Lusso. I think you miss the sound of that engine too much. But I might be wrong. Panamera is a great option too.

The Hybrid version might have 130hp more, but it also weighs a shade under 400kgs more, which goes a long way to offsetting that extra power, as well as having a negative impact on handling, braking and luggage capacity. I'd stick with the standard turbo and if need be take it to an acceptable tuner if the need (want) for more power arose. In fact the hybrid only has 10kw per ton more than the standard car so that's not great. (198kw/ton vs 208kw/ton)
You are not taking in consideration the most important thing with an expensive daily driver... TAXES.. Basically you would get the whole extra equipment and electrical power for free after a couple of years.. and still have a higher resale value than the lesser version.

Shmee I don't say that Porsche Panamera sport turismo is not good it's a very good car but I just want to see you driving that v12 symphony gtc4lusso
There is something about an NA V12, but it also carries a significantly higher price tag
I'm the opposite. I feel like the gtc4lusso isn't worth it as a 'daily', as beautiful as the car is. The less Tim spends on a daily, the more he can on other cooler cars

Thanks for the review! If one was comparing a preowned FF vs. this car (and ignoring the newer electronic gadgetry available on the Porsche), what would you say are the relative strengths and drawbacks?
This is one car that has never excited me, even though I love Porsche’s. I don’t know what it is but there’s just something about the Panamera. Nice video though, as always.

that’s the spec to go for, although black wheels and gloss black aero kit is an absolute must so is the titanium black sports exhaust system, cream interior and carbon everywhere also pretty much every option possible😉
I think this is a really cool car, but although very different to your upcoming gt3 which is amazing btw, i think having two porches may spoil that special appeal you have of having a car each of a different brand (excluding any focus rs's) the ff is a hard act to follow, and i know you've said ferraris are expensive, but just seeing how much fun you've had in them previously and especially the ff when you came back to it after a while. the v12 is something else. the gtc4 looks ace, but maybe wait to see if there are any special editions?. anyway thanks again for the great content Tim :)

Hey Tim, awesome video! The Panamera is one of my favorite cars, especially as the Sport Turismo.
One more thing from a very German guy haha ;) - if you come to a roundabout in Germany, then you won‘t turn on your indicators before. You just drive and then set the right indicator right before leaving to tell everyone that you will leave the roundabout in the upcoming exit:) no offence! Just a friendly tip after seeing the scene at 9:05

Is the 680hp of the hybrid peak or combined power??...... so is the motor used to torque fill the combustion engine effectively never seeing the full 680hp of the two at the same time or is the electric motor going through the gear box effectively keeping the electric motor in it's sweet spot making the two motors peak output at the same time?? What i'm trying to say is if you dyno'd the e-hybrid would you get the similar power (Peak) as the V8 Sport just with much better low-mid range power??
Definitely need to ask somebody from Porsche to know the answer to that one.
It’s combined power. Apart they’d produce even more. The Turbo S is way, way faster than the Turbo.
The electric motor is inside the gearbox casing.

Is auto start/stop really a good idea on a turbo car? If you have been pushing it hard and then come into town for a long stop light, aren't you just cooking the oil on the turbo bearings?

I don't just want to hear your opinions and some driving footage, I want to hear the car. The Porsche V8's sounds amazing, yet no one seems to notice.
i think that will be a great choice for gumball rally for example and others like it because of the space for the crew and luggage and the power will be great i think for this purpose!!
I feel like it would be a great replacement for the FF. I think you should buy this one first and then save up for the GTC4 lusso or wait until they drop in price.

Shmee , great video as well , the panamera is a great car for you , but if you think about it , you have a lot of v8 cars , so if i were you i would go for the gt4lusso instead , i know it is significantly more expensive, but there is something about the N/A Ferrari V12 , you know

Soundwise: Isn't it coming with a flap for sound control? Also in Sport or Sport+ mode it should forward some extra engine sound into to cockpit.Also the rear wheel steering would be interesting to see.

Personally I don‘t like the sport tourismo though 😉 And it needs black wheels for sure... I don‘t understand anyone not speccing black wheels. It is one of the cheapest details that make the car look ALOT more sporty

Hi Tim. Out of curiosity, when you're travelling somewhere, you always use the navigation system on your phone and not the built-in one in the cars. Is there any reason for this?
Yes, I explained this before. Waze on my phone works better than any onboard system

I think we have to be fair, i haven't seen any car that didn't take some time to start navigation/telephone functions after starting the car up.
I thought these car were using cellular network. My A4 takes 3 sec
After you get in your car and start it it only take 3 seconds and everything has started and loaded? That's quick i have to admit!

Little sidenote at 9:05 . In Germany you don't touch the lever of your indicator at all if you driving into a roundabout. Only when driving out of it.;-)
only when u approach roundabout and u go 3/4 u give left!! obviously u fail for ur driver license ;-)

E63s wagon is way more aggressive looking.. and 7:42 on the Nurburgring the fastest wagon ever.....
RS6 sounds like a kiddy car.
As the recent owner of a CLS i would say if you are happy with your car spending 50% of it's life in the dealer's workshop go ahead. The least reliable car i have ever owned. FIVE broken suspension arms, BOTH front electric window motors failed, the automatic gearbox completely failing on a three year old car...etc etc etc. An complete and utter joke. Plus of course the dealerships do their best at every opportunity to actually make Porsche look cheap and reasonable....but i guess people don't realise how bad they are until they experience it for themselves.

This was a video I was waiting for woohoo! And I think perhaps it is a car for you. I mean you can use it to transport a lot of things. It's pretty nippy and does the job greatly. But if you was to get one would you get it in blue and with those wheels?

In my point of view the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo is the most beautiful and sporty estate you can purchase on the market!! The inside-concept seems to be very versatile for such a sports car! Why not ? The silhouette looks so elegant and sharp 😘 In my opinion the Sport Turismo GTS is the best version of the Panamera when the car is available 😍

That's a whole discussion on its own, the e-Hybrid offers more power but it's also heavier, and costs substantially more.
130 hp more but about 300kg heavier and way more expensive. I'd go for the Turbo!
Shmee150 and a quick tune on a base Turbo is also a possibility.

This car is a great companion for the 911 gt3. Not the first Porsche purchase but the second. Not that I'm against having a Panamera sport turbo Turismo as my only car for a substantial discount. I am poor after all. hahaha
Though it is good but it doesn't have the V12 glory which the FF and GTC4Lusso have
