  • Hello welcome to my channel today we turn the spotlight on
Margrethe II announced her forthcoming abdication as Queen of Denmark during her New Year's Eve address to the nation on 31 December 2023. She is scheduled to be succeeded by her elder son Crown Prince Frederik (as King Frederik X) on 14 January 2024.
Since the death of Elizabeth II Of England on 8 September 2022, Margrethe II has been Europe's longest-reigning monarch, the world's only queen regnant, and the longest-serving incumbent female head of state.

Nope, Queen Margrethe very practically put in her 2 week notice, as per status quo when leaving a job.😂JK, JK!
I do think it was a hint that she was putting her house in order when she made Prince Joachim's children Counts/Countesses though--- looking back on it now.
She did that very suddenly too and with a date already prepared. Without it leaking to the media ahead of time, as well. It's part of her overtly efficient style and I think her way of not allowing dramatics to go on and on--- on her part.
Once she has to carry something out--- she seems to do it swiftly and without much dithering, vacillating or leaking, which is very admirable. Her time framework is extremely effective too.
That way it doesn't play out in the media ahead of time with too many discussions going on and on-- without end. She also appears to attempt no leaks and not to allow her family to become fodder for the tabloid hounds and supposed "Royal experts" as much as possible.
If other family members invite attention: that's on them-- but she doesn't seem to play that game at all!
Like with Prince Joachim's reaction, we really don't know what's true-- it could have been a conversation for awhile between them and he just didn't want to accept it. But she made a public apology anyway, to stop the drama, and still continued on with her plan--- because she wasn't going to be manipulated. She also wasn't trying to hurt anyone's feelings either, and she made it all very clear and then that was the end of it!
I'm sure there's a very valid reason behind that decision. She probably doesn't want her grandchildren to become Eurotrash types and I don't blame her.
She knows there will always be a bit of a natural news flutter after her pronouncements, but soon it's quickly done and over--- then something else comes in to take up the news cycle again. It's actually a brilliant strategy, on her part.
It sounds as if her husband was quite contentious and dramatic, so perhaps she learned the best way to go about these things. I also think she knows the characters of her family members very well, so she does things in a certain way. She definitely cares about always putting Denmark first, along with the survival of her family.

Transitions don't have to be messy or chaotic. This transition of monarchy was done so selflessly and with excellence. The Queen had a challenging year last year and the new King and Queen stepped up upon her request while she recovered. Even when life has challenges and it calls for changes and transitions, "we will honor her decision".😘👑🏰🌹🌟

    Good God!😢
I love Denmark and the Danish people, which is why I say this:❤️🤍
First, you have exquisitely admirable outgoing and incoming Queen's, King and Royal Family!!!
    BUT--
I'm sure even the most meager-minded Dane would agree that both their beloved outgoing and incoming Queen's are majestic and each deserving of at least ONE little child-in-waiting for assistance, so that they would've appeared more regal, as befitting their role.
It would've also shown the Danish in a better light as people of practicality, caring and intelligence, since their presence on the World Stage has become undoubtedly more heightened recently.
That made for some extremely uncomfortable watching-- particularly with Queen Margrethe unable to use her cane up the steps and with all that struggling and trampling on Princess Mary's gown-- certainly one cannot do anything about the elements of wind & rain. But the clumsiness of each guard, already busy with an umbrella -- trying his best but failing miserably-- was cringe-inducing.
Some sharp acumen and keen foresight in preparedness with having a bit of help available for the women wouldn't go amiss in conveying the value and appreciation that the Danes have for their Royal women to the World!!
It would've also involved the youth and united the people in a simple, practical and lovely way and likely have honored a couple of girls (or boys) in a historic moment, without being prohibitively exorbitant or looking overly ostentatious.
Just a thought for future events🤍❤
Also, a simple canopy set up ahead of time over the red carpet would be most practical and not extremely extravagant whatsoever, when rain is expected.

I think the Danish government was not expecting this level of attention they gained like 200k followers on theirs officials
The new King and Queen for sure were uncomfortable in a-lot of this just getting use to all these people but to the kids i think they had a great time at the succession when they appeared on the balcony twice i believe and even had cameras on them in procession to the castles
Now to the rain with the rain was a major issue as you even said a simple tent over the door but thats tacky but i agree even the Late Queen Elizabeth of England would hold her own umbrella for this reason because the guardsman can try but they cant keep the monarch dry they try but while moving it will hit the dress or outfit of the said monarch but i hope the dress will be taken care of more because none of the Danish officials have alot for their government like crowns, tiaras
To the part of Queen Margrethe i simply saw this the cane is the only know medical reason but i think she privately has more and seeing late majesty Queen Elizabeth die simple being sharply and doing calls the day before she passed and toke a dramatic turn over for the night before she passed i think has put in perspective how she simply didn’t want to but know she had to abdicate herself sadly 😔 she didn’t want to rumors has it

@@Collection-Corner I mean I know I sound overly picky but it was one of those things where you are watching it play out and you want to help out SO badly, but you cannot!🙈 I felt very protective.
You are right, I believe that is why the British Royal Family members handle their own umbrellas now, because it just works out better for everyone involved and they've learned from past mistakes. I've also noticed they will use a clear classy type of canopy over the carpets and they've done it in a non-tacky way. Sometimes practical is just better, because that carpet can get very slippery being exposed to water and just absorbing it all up. And the Danes seem like they are practical ppl and would accept it. But maybe not.
Well, I thought the adult Danish Royal Family members still did wonderfully in their predicaments anyhow and kept their cool. I just thought the ppl planning could've helped them out better, but you live and you learn, as they say.
I'm not surprised that the Danish Royal Family has captivated the World and they have received so much attention. They are a breath of fresh air! I love how emotional and down-to-earth King Frederick X is, how jolly but straightforward Queen Margrethe is and how regal yet unpretentious and freehearted Queen Mary is. All the media videos and pictures of them stepping into their new roles were so touching to watch! And the Danish crowd reactions were so supportive, they really seem like a happy people!😊
And yes, the children were lovely and it was fun to watch their sincere reactions to the public.🥰🤍🇩🇰❤️

Rain as we both said cant be helped but they do try for the Danish Family because the snow was falling on first day they arrived on the red carpet following the opening of parliament with former Queen Margrethe and they were video minutes before they all arrived to parliament rushing to clean it i think just in do time they’ll find the in and outs
