  • FIAT 500 1.4L (non-turbo) timing belt change (2013 model). The belt kit comes with a tensioner and a new waterpump as it is recommended to change the waterpump at the same time. We also change the accessory belt.

Hi, when you installed the crank locking tool, did you set it to top dead center? I have the same tool and it doesn’t line up when at TDC

I don’t think it was top dead center. I attached the 3 bolts at the crankshaft and then rotated slightly until the hole in the lever of the tool lined up with the housing bolt hole so I could put the bolt in to secure it. The tool just locks the crank in place, I don’t think it matters how it’s rotated as long as you secure the cam too before taking the timing belt off so that they both stay in same position. Hope that helps

@@DIY-VIDEOS problem is, the car I’m working on has bad timing so lining up and locking in doesn’t work. The car doesn’t start. At TDC, the lever side of the tool is like at 10 o clock

That’s tricky. I am sorry I don’t know how to deal with that. Hope you get it sorted out

      It doesn't line at TDC.
the crank tool has 2 faces, you check you are using the correct one?

Also the cam gear has some space to move sides when attached to the camshaft, I once solve a similar problem putting it in the exact center, no touching any of the sides, hope it helps
