English is not really his second language. As far as I know, he went to an English medium school, am I right? He went to one of the BEST English Medium schools in India - St. Columbus. If so, English is NOT his second language. I should know. I am a Loreto girl, and I'm extremely sure English is my FIRST language (along with Bengali -- but in school, Bengali was OFFICIALLY my "second language"). I love both my languages, but I'm pretty sure my familiarity with English runs deeper than my Bengali. It's a fact of life for me. I am not ashamed of it. It's just how it is.
