When this first aired in 1978, I had just arrived in London and was doing my O Levels AND trying to learn English at the same time. Needless to say, I fell in love with the show. That was the age of innocence for me.

I am not sure how many times I must have watched this serial in the past 40 odd years, but every time, I laugh just as much as I did when I saw it the first time. Absolutely Timeless!
Three things that I loved about this show : 1- None of the characters had any “doubts” about their gender . 2- Every single one of the characters was fully heterosexual . 3- They were proud of their religion . The teacher or principal never told the students “You’re forbidden from speaking about your religion”. Man, what a great show ! I didn’t discover it until recently (I’m not from the UK), but I must say this show was phenomenal!

I was in Saudi Arabia, every evening during r month of ramadan we wud watch this program together. My parents loved it. This was the glorious 80s when life was beautiful and we found joys in simple things. So many of these legnds have since left us; ranjeet, ali, mr. Brown, taro, juan, gladis, mrs. Courtney, sid...they all took that part of us with them. May Allah's blessing be upon them all for the joy and laughter they brought into our lives.

It was filmed in the late 70’s and one episode was made in the 80’s-what memories of childhood I am having! The 70’s was a unique time indeed!
