love the pragmatic approach to the hl15, recently got my full build in and i'm looking for next steps on improving the setup in my fledgling homelab
will be looking forward to more content!
Next on is in editing. Some upgrades and noise reduction.
@@DPCTechnology thats great! noise reduction has been a big topic on the hl15 forums, along with giving it better plex characteristics. good stuff!
Can not wait to see what you do with it. I'm thinking of getting one but I wanted to know about memory. I want to ad upwards of 512. I know it would be 8 sticks of 64gig but im sure I could get that from amazon cheaper. What would you recommend?
It's really ur call, I added 32gigs to my 32gigs from amazon, simple upgrade.. My goal is 80% Storage server and 20% VM host so I would balance your needs.. There a ton of projects on YT and in the 45HL forums so u can kind of pick ur poison and follow.. I couldn't be more happy with mine.. I've been doing small synology and QNAP NASs for a while and this definitely is a much more versatile solution but also more expensive and more upkeep (if ur noodling)...
how did it go? are you running proxmox? Was the CPU enough for your VMs?
Also how's the power consumption looking like for you?
Thanks!
I ended up running TrueNAS Scale because im 90% using it as a NAS and 10% for a VM host (HomeAssistant, Plex, and associated apps, test VMs, etc.). I upgraded the CPU and RAM (have a video on that) and it is killing what I need it to do. I am ALMOST done with my final setup (are u ever really?) and will do a final thoughts update..
