Just came here to say that this worked! I have a rather old Sony VAIO 2013 windows 8 all in one and it stated the same message -- Operating System Not Found. Used the first suggested fix, press F-2 and the start button and voila! It started booting up. Of course after at least 5 years of not being used I got that message today when I turned it on to see if it even still worked. Looked for a remedy, found this You Tube Video and happily am getting it to work. It is still Windows 8 so there's that, but I am hoping to update to Windows 10 when I get all the bugs out and updates sorted as well. It still locks up during the process of updating various apps, but I know it will get there. Thank you for your help and will definitely be following for more tips...

Does not give clear instructions but screen switches rapidly with press the button as an explanation. What button? Do you mean a particular key on the keyboard.? I am lost as to what you are talking about. I got into the system using the f2 key but though found boot unable to switch modes as no option to do so.
