5043 ‘Earl of Mount Edgcumbe’ Storms up Edge Hill- The Mersey Express 1/6/24

The Mersey Express to Liverpool with GWR 5043 ‘Earl of Mount Edgcumbe’
My first shot would’ve been at Smethwick Galton Bridge. Unfortunately both the stopper and 5043 were running a couple of minutes late resulting in that shop getting scrapped as the unit completely obscured the view. Travelling north we managed to overtake the Castle at Crewe. I went to Winsford to get a shot at full speed on the WCML. After a break in Liverpool we headed to Edge Hill to witness 5043 digging into the climb through Wapping Tunnels. A fantastic soundtrack on the climb made up for the failed shot at Smethwick.
