- LNER A2 pacific 60532 ‘Blue Peter’ working a private charter from London Kings Cross to York. Plus a bonus shot of LMS 46100 ‘Royal Scot’.
Following on from its recent overhaul and now fully painted and lined out, Peppercorn A2 pacific 60532 ‘Blue Peter’ would work a private charter from London Kings Cross to York. I started at West Ealing as 2 steam were booked to pass within 6 minutes of each other, 60532 on the ecs run from Southall to Kings Cross and 46100 on a Haywards Heath to Oxford excursion. I then moved to London Kings Cross to get a couple of stills of the A2 under the canopy. After Kings Cross a 200 mile game of leapfrog would commence as we would overtake the steam a few times. We would first get a shot at Finsbury Park, then a shot of it at speed through Stevenage and Grantham. Finally a shot at the locos birthplace, Doncaster. With the LNER services being late or cancelled it left a few of us wondering if it’d be late or rerouted. Thankfully it came through on the fast line as booked and making an incredible noise.

A huge credit to those who restored 60532. The A2s and the predecessors the A2/3 were the only locos to achieve the power class of 8P7F.
Luke, Well done with so many locations and a superb video. Regards, John
Cheers John. Flew past you on a 91. Didn’t know it was you until I watched your video
Great vid of a fabulously turned out loco. Well done to every one concerned
Great Video Mate. It is Brilliant to see Blue Peter vac on the mainline considering after the incident at Durham it was said to be Beyond Repair. I wish I could have joined you out on the ECML today.
Regards, James
Blue Peter seems to have two whistles.
Great stuff there Luke.
Cheers Paul. First time doing the ecml.
Blue peter train 🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂 coming through

Amazing captures mate, I had hoped to catch Blue Peter on Friday at Lichfield but couldn't get work covered to be able to do so unfortunately
Thanks Andy

I’ll check it out
@@blackcountrysteamvideos8021 Thank you.
Good stuff mate!
Shame I couldn’t be with you on this one :(
No doubt it won’t be my last chance tho
Liam
Cheers mate.
Love the video blue Peter looks well turned out as usual with an amazing royal Scot locomotive also but I don't think the comments about the diesel locomotive attached is fair as they are just as much railway heritage as the steam especially if they are providing the ETH today. Freezing ❄️
w❤better than a modern train any day❤
@@zonabrown9241 without a doubt!
I filmed Blue Peter in Doncaster yesterday
God I love steam trains
It’s almost too good to be true. How can a functional machine, made for a specific practical purpose, exhibit such sublime aesthetic qualities?
I love steam trains but I hate seeing diesel locomotives attached to the end of them. Really spoils the whole effect.
Indeed it’s embarrassing and makes out the engine can’t cope on its own.
Great video! Did you go to York in the end?
Cheers mate. Yes I went to York. I had the chance to grab a final shot at journeys end but supplies were more important. Safe to say I couldn’t get my beers for the train home 😂
Christ poor girl did she ever get above 40 mile an hour? 🤷🏼♂️
Yes, 75 mph most of the way from Stoke to Carlton loop.
We captured the A2 at speed at Grantham. Skip to 6:57. The whole clip only took 18 seconds to film.
Cringy whistle on it🫤
