Those annoying savegame bugs are what literally made me quit starfield today, after over 300hours in. Two savegames gone down the drain, wouldnt let me dock on stations anymore, with no way around it. Before they havent fixed this shit, im not gonna start this game anymore.
All the ships that spawn with the exception of a Starborn ship take off before I get to them. I get to the Starborn but the door is locked/inaccessible. I have level 4 Pilot and Ship Design skills but only level 37 player skills. I've hijacked lower level ships on other planets so wonder if the ships spawned on Hawkings are above my grade and that's why they takeoff before I can get to them. Frustrating for sure.
@@PeterProctorif you keep trying or reloading after few time the starborn did not leave the ship before you and then it your , after that every starborn vestel i encounter after the first 1 i was on time i can enter every time ! And i have 5 starnborn vessels now easy money
You can bring up the ship menu when you sit down and make it your home ship, then register it, then get out and walk back or fast travel to the ship you landed in. That's how I farm ships when I planet farm them.
This, I started doing it after I stole a ship, and it had a shitty grav drive, and I couldn't go far. Started the register and then headed back to Narwal.
I’m glad you found a solution to the inaccessible bug. I got it so early in my save I didn’t realize it was a bug; I thought that’s just how ships were so you couldn’t steal them off the ground.
Same here, after 153 hours in game, I just find out that this bug was a thing since the start of my game. Thank you so very much Bethesda for this buggy mess of a game.
How to steal Freestar ships: It takes a couple extra steps but if you can get to the ship and the game says you are at a ship landing site you can in fact steal the ship. The first time you board there should be people on the ship and you wont be able to use the pilot seat. Leave the planet after traveling to the ship landing site then go back to the same spot you landed at before on the planet by clicking on the same landing site where you found the freestar ship. Pull up the map and fast travel to the ship landing site where the freestar was. Board the ship, if you did it right there should be no one on the ship. Go to the pilot seat and you should be able to fly away now. Ive stolen a number of Freestar ships this way: renegade, vista, etc. Thanks for the vids you helped me start my ship stealing spree, I just wanted to share what I found.
Got a really good Galbank C class ship in space at lvl 25 25k credits and only 650 in bounty. The tip for low bounty is to use non lethal to make everyone unconscious, then stealth kill 1 after 1 Saves you like 50-60k in bounty and you get a great ship and credits in return.
The biggest consideration to take into account for liberated ships is their maximum reactors. For A class that is a 33 power reactor (Found in the Va'ruun Dirge III,) for B class that is a 39 power reactor (Found in the Crimson Fleet Specter IV, it has a 38 power competitor in the ecliptic claymore III,) and for class C that is a 40 power reactor (Found in the Spacer Hyena III & Crimson Fleet Wight III) As for ship amenities - Spacer & Fleet ships tend to have smuggling bays (Shielded cargo,) Ecliptic tends to have a lot of guns and better overall storage. Ship are tiered and tied to system levels, you will not typically see III's in low level systems.
Agreed, although I tend to hate those Spacer and Crimson Fleet ships, even the ones with high reactors, just because of their stupidity in ergonomics and lack of reasonable storage, so I just sell those. I usually go for the Va'run and Ecliptic ones as they are way more usable right out of the box, with only minor alterations.
He's not doing the voiceover at the same time as the video, my guy. He knows what ships they are because he had already captured them when he added the voiceover to the video.
Grabbing those ships is fun! If your new ship has low jump range, but you want to keep it, just make it your homeship from ship menu, and then walk/jetpack back to your previous ship. A few days ago I have found that if the ship you commandeered hasn’t lifted off and is still on planet’s surface, in the ship menu you can make it your homeship without taking off. Crew and cargo will transfer automatically, and if any baddies are still left outside the ship, VASCO will deal with them. The ship I picked up, had cargo, crew, and engine stats worse than my previous, but I wanted to keep it for the collection - so I got out and made my way back to the spot where I previously landed my other ship, to see if it’s still there…. IT WAS! I got in, made it my homeship back again! So technically, as long as you don’t launch your newly acquired ship to space, you are still able to walk/jetpack to your old ship.
A couple tips - Before landing on the planet, set your difficulty to Very Hard. Once you have landed, do a Quicksave, and then exit the ship. If you don't get a ship spawn, reload the Quicksave a few times. If you still don't get a ship spawn, take off and move to a different spot. Once you get a ship spawn, you can reload that quicksave to get different ships. Got one of those Claymores today, those are great starter C-class donor ships. A lot of the Ecliptic ships have really efficient engines.
When I am out ship stealing, I always land on the planet, exit the pilot's seat, stop by a bed, sleep an hour for the exp boost, go to the exit hatch (staying inside) and make a hard save before exiting the ship. Then I'm all set. Upon exiting, if no bang, I pop to another landing spot and try again. I only sleep in the bed the first time, as I pretty much always get a ship spawn point in 1-3 tries which in total takes only a few minutes. It is a couple of more steps, but it is fool proof, and I'm a fool (or so I've been told), so the couple of extra steps saves me from myself. This method also helps me to always remember to both grab the exp buff and save at the hatch before venturing out. Good habits even when not ship hunting/erm stealing. : )
Got myself a STORMRIDER II today! First ship I ever boarded after a quick battle thanks to the Ship I found and Modified thanks to this guide!! Thanks again man
I can attest to this. The Starborn ships pre NG can only be accessible within 10-15 seconds of it touching down so I suggest you get a balanced boost pack or a skip pack (power boost pack is more helpful vertically as opposed to balanced which is more effective in covering horizontal distances). You also need to be prepared to pop an Immobilizer just in case you get a fracture when you land. Pre NG, all spaceport technicians will comment on how different, amazing, and unique your Starborn ship is and it is golden. FYI: I refuse to lose my ships and homes (that I painstakingly furnished) so I haven't really jumped into NG yet but getting a Starborn ship makes me feel just fine lol. EDIT: I got lucky and was able to steal a Starborn Guardian VI (SG III on first attempt) which is normally available only after NG +5. I used this landing pad on Bohr (forgot the planet) and the area between ships is relatively close.
Two things to note. One is that when you transfer to another ship every pin, notepad, and coffee cup will transfer to your new cargo hold. You need to jettison all that crap. More importantly is that if you take a Spacer or Elliptic vessel you need to find the contraband that's almost certainly onboard somewhere before you travel to a settled system.
So not every time, apparently. I've taken 5 ships this morning (including the Va'ruun Prophecy btw) and it hasn't happened once. I've found contraband several times before today, and had the cargo full of trash thing happen twice, but not today. If you suddenly find your cargo full, check the miscellaneous.
So I have encountered this too. I'm curious how this works. Are all the little nick nacks in your ship's rooms considered in the hold? I started jettisoning some, but not the entire stacks of items. Because I wasn't sure if it would make my ship lose all it's "lived in" look, and be completely empty. I have 30 or 40 dumbells, that are completely useless and weight 10 per. I guess there's no real way to differentiate and the solution is to clear it all?
@@noonsa3its not considered cargo weight sitting on the floor of the ship you can have 10000 loose dumbbells in one storage room yet 0 weight added take another ship and make it home ship than it all gets transfered as cargo
Be careful when using the jettison function as sometimes the misc tab can also hold items you gained/need for activities ( medical supplies, but also digipicks credits etc ) which you cant get back once jettisoned
you can if u encounter it landing on any planet, 1) just need to save/load till u get the nearest starborn guardian ship landing near you landed your ship 2) and rush at the starborn ship immediately before starborn enemy exit the ship, (note this) after they all exited, it will be inaccessible.
You’re having trouble stealing a Starborn Guardian? You HAVE to get there before the crew leave, so usually you arrive too late. There is a single sonic boom sound made when the crew leave, after that it is too late. But if you can get there before you hear that, run to the “starry” hatch and mash enter. You will be able to enter as they leave, and can take the ship if you have a high enough pilot rating. I’d advise you to only steal one. They are fast but only have 1500 units of cargo, and you can’t modify and upgrade them. I have several C class ships that can destroy guardians easily and have 7000-8000 cargo, 3000-4000 shields, 7 turrets, 4 launchers … So, the Guardian is a curiosity and fun to get once, but don’t waste your ship slots on them. You can build a better ship around level 30-40
I've only stolen 3 low level ships to date. Love the feeling of being able to achieve this. Kinda noughty mischievous feeling you get. Im definitely getting hooked now I've seen this video. It's OK I'll leave enough for you guys😂
One thing I did to help my farming in this area when I didn’t capture a ship that can travel all the way back as I just made a base with just a large landing pad in that same system, so no matter how low and the ship I captured is I can always take it back to that base with the landing pad and switch back to my primary ship
I have had that happen before also. What I would suggest is to just fast travel to a location you have visited before that is close to ship builder or your own outpost. I thing I have learned from others is that even if you trying to jump to a location that is prompted as unable to jump to location you can still fast travel there. As long as it’s a location you have visited before. There are a few exceptions I have came across were this didn’t work such as trying to fast travel while character is falling or jumping, docked at a star station, or encumbered.
I was using this method earlier this evening because I wanted a new ship, and I ran up to the one that landed and I expecting a firefight. But it turned out to be two hot Scandinavian chics, standing outside their ship, and they asked me for some water. I gave them some water and decided to have a snoop in their ship and I had to lockpick the hatch to get in while they were just standing around outside. And yes, I stole their ship and left them stranded on the planet! I was feeling really guilty about it but I kept telling myself _"it's just a game, it's just a game, they aren't real!"_
FYI if you steal a ship that has low jump range you can fast travel directly to the red mile and use the ship services technician to switch back to your main ship
You can also always fast travel to cities (assuming no contraband) directly which will bypass your map saying your jump range is too low. I do it all the time. Jump range only matters the first time and if you are going to appear in orbit as opposed to on the surface after the fast travel.
I snagged a huge UC cargo ship called UC-Carry All. I’m only level 28ish. Pirating is one of my favorite things to do and I learned today that you can only have ten ships in your fleet. I think it would be cool to be able to harvest and store parts from ships. For example, you “find” a ship that has parts that you want but you don’t have access to it yet for whatever reason. Click the parts you want and put them in your hanger, scrap the rest for less than if you sold the ship complete. But now you have free parts to add to your home ship. I also don’t like that you have to switch ships to confiscate a ship. If your favorite ship can auto pilot it’s ass back to a star port, so can the one you just relieved of command. Also I’m not a fan of having to register the ship to sell it, only making a small profit most the time less than 10k. Rehoming lost ships is my preferred method of income. Yes I have commerce maxed and I know it’s cheaper to register ships from the pause menu than at a space port like New Atlantis.
Great content, subscribed! Notes: 1. Max # of ships I can own is 10 2. Piracy is not very lucrative, because the registration fee kills a good profit. When you end up spending $40k to register, and then sell for ~$60k, that $20k isn't really a big motivation. It might better to just to get good ships as the bones for a custom build ship, because the expensive parts (grav drive, engines, reactor, etc.) can be top notch already
Just tested something, there is a good way to re-generate the autosave once you've landed with the proper graphic... - Instead of Exiting your ship from the Captain's chair, select "Get Up" instead - Head to the ship's exit and do a hard save (not a quicksave) prior to exiting - Exit the ship and get the autosave; if you don't get the "pow" to announce a ship entering the atmosphere, reload the save prior to exiting the ship - Repeat until you get that "pow" after a few seconds being outside Also works if the ship leaves before you can reach it, just load the save prior to exiting and exit again to regenerate the autosave
Max ship count is indeed 10, no need to have more imo, I just sell all the rest or recycle for new builds :D If you have Commerce Rank 4 and register without using the technicians, is a LOT cheaper. You can actually make 20-25K per ship sale if you do it this way (made a video about that)
It's not a big motivation in-and-of-itself, but it's fun and you can lower the registration fee by doing it when you're not at the ship services, and also you can take into account that you are often getting a lot of loot both in the cargo and off the people you kill, so it's moderately profitable from that standpoint.
For some reason when I go to this plant, ships land but when you get to the ship there is know way to enter the ship. Never seen this before but I am going to keep trying. Have no problems on other plants. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks for the videos man great job.
I capture Hyenas all the time, because I took the "Wanted" trait. Bounty hunters often have a Hyena in their ambush, and they are a great way to score some fast cash, but you will need something like 20K credits or so to register them first. They sell for a profit of something like $10K, so not a bad way to make a living. Plus, you can sell all the stuff you looted while boarding.
Damn I get so frustrated with the "inaccessible " issue becuase I have piloting maxxed. Didnt know that it was a bug. Thanks for the video. I save often.
The inaccessible issue and the forbidden access to pilot seat are two different problems. Inaccessible hatches are a bug. The only legit ones are in towns where you are not supposed to visit other ships. In the wild, you can access to any ship inside. The forbidden access to a seat, on the other hand, is a faction restriction. And in some cases, a bug waiting for a fix from Bethesda (see @vhagarc6585 for a solution). Same as the Starborn ship bug. It's legit to steal a guardian if the crew didnt get out. It's not an exploit. There is a special scene in the game hinting at the player for exploiting this. Once the crew is outside, the hatch becomes inaccessible and i regret the fx team didnt make it obvious. After encountering a guardian, the instance is bugged and you cant enter any new hatch before exiting the system.
Very first ship that landed was Starborn but it was inaccessible. Flew back to Paradiso and changed a few things on my ship changed home ships a few times and then went back to Hawk 4a. Got a spacer jackal with no problem but now stuck trying to get this clunker back to civilization so i can switch home ships and sell this thing off. Did see a big behemoth land but it took off before I could get to it. This is good stuff to try and so a big thank you for sharing it. Take care and good luck out there.
Well, I've got plenty of ships that were inaccessible. But others were not. The game sometimes want to prevent you from getting certain ships. Like the ship on Mars that belongs to the tool thief - it still stands there, not being accessible. I don't think it's a bug but intended. And you can always unlock these ships via console. Open it, click on the door and enter "unlock" in the console. There you go. Sometimes a bridge isn't properly rendered, sometimes it has no bridge at all (not accessible, it's just a spaceship hull basically making it easy for the game to load).
11:01 it’s not your save file or anything, sometimes you are just prohibited from boarding that ship. You’ll notice it only happens when trying to board on the surface of a planet, much easier and better way to grab all the ships your loot goblin soul could want, (Don’t worry..I’m one too) But 1st* Fly to any system Lvl 50-75 and just planet hop systems while scanning to earn quick XP. So 2nd* during that time planet hopping you should very likely come across every faction ship, at super beefy levels. Make sure you have 1** Point Specd into Targeting on the far right skill tree, you’ll need that in order to target ONLY THE LAST REMAINING ENEMY SHIP IN BATTLE. Because you cannot board a ship with multiple enemies present. 3rd** Target the engines ONLY. (EM) Weapon preferably for this type of play style. Once the propulsion is fried you can approach and dock. I do it with every last enemy in every encounter because the amount of contraband you find ALONG WITH a free ship. 🔥👍 Hope this helps someone!
My dude. This is awesome. Tried to get there asap after watching this vid. My first 3 attempts got me a Spacer Hyena, UC Vista and Ecliptic Claymore. Stole all 3. The 4th was a starborn ship that I could not access 😢.
Heads up to everyone! Check that misc parts list for weight plates and dumbells😅 things pop up every so often and take at least 100lbs of space!! And did you know that if you color a ship somewhat similar to a faction that the game will change the name of you ship in a few days??? I had a crimson fleet B class fighter, that i changed up, made black and purple an next thing i know the thing is titled UC navy frigate? First time seeing it
If you’re on PC and have enable achievements. You can open the console, click the door, make sure it says door in console and then type unlock. This will get you into any ship that seems glitched like that.
My strategy is a little different... I fight and capture them in space! The random spawns in space in a level 75 system will usually yield level 64 ships, many of which are insamely powerful! The Ecliptic Claymore 3 and the level 64 Varuun ship have a reactor in the upper 30's!! With armmaments that are similarly powerful. Basically you just hop from planet to planet (while in the sky) until you get a random spawn, then save, then win the fight (which are tough!!). I think it may help to be "Wanted" also, because those Ecliptics are bounty hunters and are frequently hassling me about my bounty (which I love!). Thanks for the guide though. The few times that I tried to jack a ship from the ground with them landing like that, all were inaccessible once I got to the cockpit. But I didn't realize that time was so critical. I will try it again now armed with this knowledge. Cheers!
Dang it, I got the bug after clearing a Starborn's landing site at aroun lvl20, and I thought you couldn't steal THAT one. Would have been quite the upgrade!
Thus far, my favorite ship that I've stolen is an Ecliptic Claymore. Sadly, it's just a basic model, but I love it. Wanted better cargo capacity, so a slapped three of those 204 modules on. Deleted the engines and unnecessary structural pieces, and upgraded the reactor to one with 40 energy, and put in 5 Slayton SAL-6830s to give it 100 mobility. Earlier today I noticed that, while it _does_ have a workshop, it doesn't have an armory. So, put in an Armory and a Science Lab. Surprisingly, it still has 100 mobility!
Respect, land on Sirius III A. Save still in the ship, get out of the ship and wait. After loading 3 times (30 Minutes), UC Voyager III, C class. That's how I got a Crimson Fleet Wight III (Ursa Major I-B).
Remember, you're still playing a bethesda game. That means you need to avoid some things if you wanna keep grom corrupted save files. One of those things is saving too often. The more often a save file is overwritten the more chances there are for duplicated edit files, or whatever they're called, that cause corruption. Turn you menu autosave to 10 minutes and turn off save on wait (if you plan on waiting multiple times like when resetting venders) if you're gonna save scum, create new hard saves and regularly delete auto saves and quicksave if you use them.
the best starborn guardian ship i’ve gotten was a tier 4 which had a significant jump in shielding and weapon damage. i’ve only gotten 1 more are tier 2 and one tier 3. i think it maybe based on your level, i’ve yet to capture a ship that had a engine larger than i could buy no matter how high it’s level.
There is also a glitch where all ships you try and hijack are “unauthorized to pilot” (even ecliptic). I think the only thing you can do to fix it is backtrack to a previous save. I accidentally deleted my uncorrupted saves before this happened though so (after +40-hrs of gameplay) I had to start a new game. Because I couldn’t steal ANY ships😢
On the other hand, I *did* have a random friendly NPC land his Pik Up (look it up, it's fucking massive and easily modifiable to carry immense weight) near me, and I stole it without a fight! Now it's my main.
Something I ran into that was really annoying... this was my third time trying to take over a ship... and the third time it didn't work (the first two were class B, and I only had one rank of piloting). On this one, it was a class A ship. It was a smuggler ship. The captain thinks I'm the contact they're supposed to be meeting, and they give me a bunch of stuff that the person they were expecting to meet was supposed to deliver. I took the stuff, then killed the captain and crew. It was a small ship with only the cockpit and one other room, so I knew the ship was empty. The pilot seat was completely inaccessible. No matter where I moved my cursor, it wouldn't give me the option to sit in the pilot seat. I didn't see the ship land, just encountered it, so I figure there are static ships that are just objects.
I never realised inaccessable was a bug - I just thought that is was something random to stop you taking every ship... So hadn to know go modify your ship and hopefully be able to take the next ship but, just to hope you get the same one again you were after... I still wonder if it is actually fixing anyting or since its not the same ship but, another that is just that this new one allows you compared to last one that didnt - as said - maybe it just applies to some and not a bug as such...
To get around the inaccessible door you just go somewhere on your star map and travel. Then get out of the seat and go to the door and open it from the inside.
I've got the bug where no enemies are in any of the ships (the ones that laand on planets and in space) which is completely game breaking but at least it has allowed me to steal a starborn ship without going NG+, every single one of them that lands is always accessible so I'll have one when they patch this bug.
Every starborn ship I encountered has been inaccessible, so that I stopped trying when I see one. All the others have been fine. I didn't know you could even get them. Now I have to see if I can unbug it. I was in a different system and just randomly both the Vrunn prophecy 2 and the ecliptic claymore both landed as I was surveying the planet. I stole both, and didn't even know they were rare to see. I was graced with a Vrunn Litanny on one of the first planets I visited early game that was my go to ship that became something different, so the Vrunn prophecy I thought must be another good target for me to steal. Then the Ecliptic showed up as I was exploring a different landing site on the planet.
yo dude your videos totally changed my starfield experience. being a ship hunter ever since I landed on your channel, and boy it is fun!!! I hope they flush out this game mechanic a little more because it can be a minigame on it's own. It's like steal the flag! Imagine if there is a chance they could steal your ship too and you have to keep your crew defending it! I also whish they could keep track of were you already found certain type of ships etc.. And it would be great if we could build a Hangar in our outposts to increase the number of ships we can hold, and see them one next to each other parked there. cheers dude!
I saw some videos with a ridiculously amazing Class C ship that you could only get by boarding in space. It was called the Valentine and had 30 reactor power and was like 560k value. Apparently it can spawn anywhere but some folks have posted about where they found it. It’s level 72. Colonist ship too, so you’ll get a bounty taking it.
Don't remember the ship name, but in the serpentis galaxy. They're 2 lvl 54 ship you can encounter. 1 is a class B with a 28 reactor and the other is a class C with a 32 reactor. I actually like the Class B a little better as it's stock turrets are much better, but both are very nice. That galaxy is also a great way to farm lvls due to being ambushed nearly everytime to move from one planet orbit to the next.
Any time I steal a ship and then mod it a lot, it glitches out and I get the invisible ship bug. My favorite ship is the Mako. I bought it brand new, gave it a huge overhaul, C reactor, cargo, guns. Love the little thing. I’m at 89 ships registered right now. Love the pirate life!
@@roysutcliffe5994 89? Wasn't sure if there was a cap, so I'd only been stealing 4-5 at a time. I'm so glad to know I can just go to town and do a sell-a-thon.
@@roysutcliffe5994 Xbox only allows 10 ships registered at any time and didnt know PC if that is what you are on allowed to have so many or are you using mods...or did you simply mean you have stolen and sold 89 in total?
I'm having trouble with this, the enemy ships that land doesn't even have their landing bay open for me to steal the ship, once the ship lands there's nobody in or out of the ship lol
Never take ava ruun eulogy unless you can get back into your ship without leaving the system... you may get stranded. I had a 5 system "Island" I was trapped in for hours and I had to ultimately search for a landed craft to steal because it is weak as hell.
So one thing that I have run into in my first playthrough is that I can't seem to steal grounded bounty hunter ships from the wanted trait. They give the same unauthorized message you got from the downed UC vanguard ship.
If a door on a space ship says inaccessible you can use console commands to unlock it all you need to do is open the console click on the door scroll till it says door or if lucky pops up on the first time you clicked on it, then type in unlock. Exit the console and it will be unlocked.
BTW Those Va'Ruun MONSTERS..... are just Stoud-Eklund ships, you can buy them at the showroom in Neon or the staryard in... some system near your home system :/. But the black sheen makes them look absolutely MONSTEROUS from a distance xD. Neither here nor there cuz you probably just want to steel them lol but...
I’ve been trying to get a UC Vista for days and I’m having no luck I’ve tired everything can’t find them at the shop vendors or on planets and idk what to do
Just had a small uc ship land and instead the pilot fixing the ship they was outside and asked to help patrol the area while she get the creature ready but I tool the ship
Question? what 3 ships that I should be looking for that have good storage size and can do some good damage? I already have a The Ecliptic Claymore MK II, but I'm looking to replace it with the Mk III when I find one.
I believe I have found a correlation between the number of ships that land on a planet and the amount of helium 3 on it. According to the lore rocky desolate moons have the most helium 3....
Ive already gotten the ECLYPTIC Borg ship. Dont remember what is was called. I just named it BLOCKADE. However I found a Starborn ship landing on luna, killed the scount on the ground, and then I couldnt even get in the door of the ship. That sucked. BUT Im not sure I could have cleared that ship out if it needed to be done. Took a while hiding behind cover to kill the scouts. Im assuming your playing NewGame+ and is the reason you were able to get in the Star Born ship. Im taking my time before I move on to NG+. So that is probably not for the 1st play through.
I had a giant ship class c and it had 2 pilot seat's if i entered the one on the right my entire game would lock up including all buttons on my controller while zooming in on my head and constantly spinning the camera around ...but the seat on the left just allowed me to enter and register the ship without problems 😂 unfortunately it's been a few weeks since then i dont remember what ship it was but i think it was a civilian a security or a uc ship cause i attacked some innocent ppl which i didn't do often on my first playthrough and i haven't seen the ship since but the interior was like a giant maze
Here's my new Ultimate Ship Stealing Guide in which I share all my secrets to farming Top Tier & Class C Spaceships, including the UC Vista and Starborn Ships PRE NG+!

Any excuse to see Sergeant Yummy I guess.

Cool story. You get much more money just playing the game.
Yeah I started doing that once I realized to NOT kill the guys outside to keep it from taking off as I board
Same here
Same. Not too impressed.
oh shit me too, literally the first ship I tried was inaccessible..
same
How to steal Freestar ships: It takes a couple extra steps but if you can get to the ship and the game says you are at a ship landing site you can in fact steal the ship.
Got a really good Galbank C class ship in space at lvl 25
25k credits and only 650 in bounty.
The tip for low bounty is to use non lethal to make everyone unconscious, then stealth kill 1 after 1
Saves you like 50-60k in bounty and you get a great ship and credits in return.
The biggest consideration to take into account for liberated ships is their maximum reactors. For A class that is a 33 power reactor (Found in the Va'ruun Dirge III,) for B class that is a 39 power reactor (Found in the Crimson Fleet Specter IV, it has a 38 power competitor in the ecliptic claymore III,) and for class C that is a 40 power reactor (Found in the Spacer Hyena III & Crimson Fleet Wight III)
As for ship amenities - Spacer & Fleet ships tend to have smuggling bays (Shielded cargo,) Ecliptic tends to have a lot of guns and better overall storage.
Dude it's crazy how you can tell what ship is in the air at night soon as you look at it. I can tell you put a lot of time into this.
I know right... all I see is numbers (lvl) when I engage 1 vs 30 Space Galatic Dogfight
He's not doing the voiceover at the same time as the video, my guy. He knows what ships they are because he had already captured them when he added the voiceover to the video.
@@CmdrKosnett that makes sense
If you use Amp and a can of Blend (from neon) you can get to ships faster and have a higher chance of getting them before they take off
yeah this is a game changer strat! Also the frostwolf increases your moving speed by a lot!!!!! you can traverse the map super fast!
Built a little outpost and then looked if I might board the Guardian lol or maybe my game is bugged
Just travel to the Wolf system and go to the Den space station
There is no scan and a trade authority with $11,000 credits
So I have encountered this too. I'm curious how this works. Are all the little nick nacks in your ship's rooms considered in the hold? I started jettisoning some, but not the entire stacks of items. Because I wasn't sure if it would make my ship lose all it's "lived in" look, and be completely empty. I have 30 or 40 dumbells, that are completely useless and weight 10 per. I guess there's no real way to differentiate and the solution is to clear it all?
@@noonsa3its not considered cargo weight sitting on the floor of the ship you can have 10000 loose dumbbells in one storage room yet 0 weight added
take another ship and make it home ship than it all gets transfered as cargo
Be careful when using the jettison function as sometimes the misc tab can also hold items you gained/need for activities ( medical supplies, but also digipicks credits etc ) which you cant get back once jettisoned
I’ve never stolen a starborn ship, but I’ve gotten the inaccessible bug. But leaving the system and coming back allowed me to steal ships again.
Same, it kept blocking me from entering so I assumed it was just unstealable. But I guess not?
you can if u encounter it landing on any planet, 1) just need to save/load till u get the nearest starborn guardian ship landing near you landed your ship 2) and rush at the starborn ship immediately before starborn enemy exit the ship, (note this) after they all exited, it will be inaccessible.
@@SebaztienHawke-ci5hm how many ships can you have in total?
It's not a bug, you are not supposed to get inside of it
What you are doing to try and get the ship is the exploit you tool lmao
I've only stolen 3 low level ships to date. Love the feeling of being able to achieve this. Kinda noughty mischievous feeling you get.
Im definitely getting hooked now I've seen this video.
It's OK I'll leave enough for you guys😂
One thing I did to help my farming in this area when I didn’t capture a ship that can travel all the way back as I just made a base with just a large landing pad in that same system, so no matter how low and the ship I captured is I can always take it back to that base with the landing pad and switch back to my primary ship
Great tip! Thanks for sharing ^^
Yes, always carry the mats for a large landing pad when working in these remote areas. 2 Berylium, 18 Adaptive Frames, 30 Iron and 2 Zero wire.
Just keep stealing ships till you get a ship that jumps farther than 18LY
Great idea!
Two hot Scandinavian chicks 🤣👌 top comment. Brave to leave them stranded on that planned haha, its just a game indeed ^^ Epic story
Notes:
1. Max # of ships I can own is 10
- Instead of Exiting your ship from the Captain's chair, select "Get Up" instead
- Head to the ship's exit and do a hard save (not a quicksave) prior to exiting
- Exit the ship and get the autosave; if you don't get the "pow" to announce a ship entering the atmosphere, reload the save prior to exiting the ship
- Repeat until you get that "pow" after a few seconds being outside
Also works if the ship leaves before you can reach it, just load the save prior to exiting and exit again to regenerate the autosave
Max ship count is indeed 10, no need to have more imo, I just sell all the rest or recycle for new builds :D
If you have Commerce Rank 4 and register without using the technicians, is a LOT cheaper.
Nice, I always get the inaccessible note. Now I know how to fix it.
Got a Claymore 3, Dirge 3 and vista 2 in twenty minutes. Thanks pal!
You’ll notice it only happens when trying to board on the surface of a planet, much easier and better way to grab all the ships your loot goblin soul could want, (Don’t worry..I’m one too)
But 1st* Fly to any system Lvl 50-75 and just planet hop systems while scanning to earn quick XP.
Hope this helps someone!
My dude. This is awesome. Tried to get there asap after watching this vid. My first 3 attempts got me a Spacer Hyena, UC Vista and Ecliptic Claymore. Stole all 3. The 4th was a starborn ship that I could not access 😢.
Makes space battles with target lock seem, well ... "Old school."
Crimson Fleet Wight is the one you want to shoot for, awesome ship!!!
I love how excited you are when a ship lands!
Its always fun to find some big ships in the sky man :D
Respect, land on Sirius III A. Save still in the ship, get out of the ship and wait. After loading 3 times (30 Minutes), UC Voyager III, C class. That's how I got a Crimson Fleet Wight III (Ursa Major I-B).
Oh my God, what a beauty ( 2:07 ) please share the build of the ship!
The UC Reef is my Home Ship. I love it. I have crazy cargo on it and two additional small engines for better speed and additional landing gears.
Remember, you're still playing a bethesda game. That means you need to avoid some things if you wanna keep grom corrupted save files. One of those things is saving too often. The more often a save file is overwritten the more chances there are for duplicated edit files, or whatever they're called, that cause corruption. Turn you menu autosave to 10 minutes and turn off save on wait (if you plan on waiting multiple times like when resetting venders) if you're gonna save scum, create new hard saves and regularly delete auto saves and quicksave if you use them.
the best starborn guardian ship i’ve gotten was a tier 4 which had a significant jump in shielding and weapon damage. i’ve only gotten 1 more are tier 2 and one tier 3. i think it maybe based on your level, i’ve yet to capture a ship that had a engine larger than i could buy no matter how high it’s level.
got an eclips claymore on the first try. thanks!
Ah, I was looking for a solution for this. Will test it later to see if I can do it
There is also a glitch where all ships you try and hijack are “unauthorized to pilot” (even ecliptic). I think the only thing you can do to fix it is backtrack to a previous save. I accidentally deleted my uncorrupted saves before this happened though so (after +40-hrs of gameplay) I had to start a new game. Because I couldn’t steal ANY ships😢
Great video, I am level 20, but cant seem to get to that star system...I can get to maal and serpentis, but stops there? Any tips?
That's true. If it's related to a quest, it's not ownable. For example: Orlase's Warlock ship.
I have been able to steal freestar and colony ships... I wonder if it's connected to background or traits?
Top tier Repo-man gameplay 👍
I'm not sure why, I haven't started NG+, But on console I just stole a starbourn ship.. I don't get it??
I plan to jack more bigger ships in time but for now I need to get my starship command level up so I can actually have enough crew members on it.
How long does this actually take? I've been doing this for hours and have only seen 3 or 4 so types spawning. Just curious.
I keep getting the message "you are not authorized". I've come across 3 Claymores that I couldn't steal.
Sure you have Rank 4 Piloting?
@@04AMofficial I have both design and piloting max and multiple class C ships that I've made. I'm on new game plus as well.

GTA 2230 not even the aliens locking their car doors are safe. .😂😂😂
If you just enter in your ship and fast travel at another place, you don’t have the cutscene but you have autosave (it’s faster than go back in Space)
Thank you so much
To get around the inaccessible door you just go somewhere on your star map and travel. Then get out of the seat and go to the door and open it from the inside.
If you get up and save on your ship you should be able to skip going back into space, you can just reload and get a new ship spawn.
I've got the bug where no enemies are in any of the ships (the ones that laand on planets and in space) which is completely game breaking but at least it has allowed me to steal a starborn ship without going NG+, every single one of them that lands is always accessible so I'll have one when they patch this bug.
one of my test benches mod is called fast run which allows the user to run but uses less oxeygen
If you make the mistake of stealing a ship in space and get the serious bug it does get fixed in new game+.

I'm having trouble with this, the enemy ships that land doesn't even have their landing bay open for me to steal the ship, once the ship lands there's nobody in or out of the ship lol
What I found helps with bugs, is closing the game and loading the last save (before the exit save)
you can console command no clip on the ships you cant get in get inside and cc unlock then go back outside and you will be able to enter
Never take ava ruun eulogy unless you can get back into your ship without leaving the system... you may get stranded. I had a 5 system "Island" I was trapped in for hours and I had to ultimately search for a landed craft to steal because it is weak as hell.
For me I found only class b ship. Which lvl is needed for class c spawns?
This game will test you in ways you are hopefully ready for as someone who just wants to play a fun clean game. Just wanted to get that off my chest!
So one thing that I have run into in my first playthrough is that I can't seem to steal grounded bounty hunter ships from the wanted trait. They give the same unauthorized message you got from the downed UC vanguard ship.
Same
Yup, same here as well.
If a door on a space ship says inaccessible you can use console commands to unlock it all you need to do is open the console click on the door scroll till it says door or if lucky pops up on the first time you clicked on it, then type in unlock. Exit the console and it will be unlocked.
Literally watching at 4am too 😅🤣🤣🤣
You don't actually have to take off just sit in the seat and go to the ship tab in inventory screen and it sves it to youre ships
We need to have more than 10 ships. And then be able to hire crew and sail the skies as an armada.
Thanks for the video.
Amazing bro. Thankyou!
What did you do with the mantis or the starting ship? Sell them off?
I believe I have found a correlation between the number of ships that land on a planet and the amount of helium 3 on it. According to the lore rocky desolate moons have the most helium 3....
Hey there new sub from the UK great content
What's the ship at 0:08? I love the look of it.
Oh Nvm, I think it's just a modified and painted Star Eagle?
That samething happened to me with the Vista. I can never get to it in time.
if a door says inaccessible then you can open it with the console by clicking on it and writing "unlock"
Great stuff!
What level of piloting skill is it needed for piloting a starborn starship?
I just stole Va ruun hymn II :) thx dis tipe :)
How did you steal a star born ship I tried says not accessible for me. And anyway to have more then 10 ships?
nice Tutorial, thx
My pleasure!
I pulled UC Vista on Venus lol blew my mind
What level if I may?
I think I was like 89 at the time
