Caddx Vista Installation Into a Slammed Drone

- I finally got a hold of one of the first batch Caddx Vista air units for DJI Digital FPV. My goal for getting one of these was to simply be able to add DJI Digital FPV into one of my usual Hyperlow RS+ FPV quads. For the last few months I've been adding the large DJI Digital FPV System Air Unit to frames that have been modified to fit such a big unit, like the Impulse RC Apex HD. Now it's time to see if I can cram the Caddx FPV Vista into one of my slammed daily flyers.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to fit the Caddx Vista into one usual Hyperlow RS+ FlightOne Falco X builds because of the way I mount the PDB on those with the main power leads towards the back. So I had to go pick a lesser used RS+ that I built for Betaflight. If this project is successful, I'll start a brand new build with my usual FlightOne components to fit the Vista.

Great video sir! I fly a couple of Hyperlow frames on analogue (CG-5/CG-6) and love 'em but have been tempted to dip my toe into HD video for a while. I managed to get a new Caddx Vista Nebula Pro set for $120 plus some pristine used V2 DJI Goggles + iFlight stubbies for $300 but never thought I'd squeeze the Vista into my Hyperlows. Wish I'd seen your video a week ago as I've just finished fitting the Vista/Nebula combo into my old Chameleon 5" rig which has a decent tune. It turned out OK with enough space around the Matek F405AIO to play with. Just need to sort out my antenna mount and tidy things up and it'll be ready for a maiden. If it all works out OK I'll be upgrading one of the Hyperlows. Gracias!!
Absolutely. Definitely more space in the Chameleon, but the Hyperlow is a much nicer and stiffer design. Enjoy though. It's still fun! I flew a Chameleon for a long time.
Just the video that I was looking for. I have a slammed frame.
Yeah, this is 15mm and fits just fine. I don't run a strap over the Vista unit though. The straps sits just in front of the unit. You would need a 20mm deck to be able to run a strap above the unit.
So, if that I understand correctly, you can choose any flight controller and use it with any other transmitter like flysky? or? I am just trying to understand.. what’s need it if I wanna fly Vista? Do I have to have DJI goggles but also their DJI controller in order to fly? Thanks
You don't need the DJI controller if you don't want it. The flight controller sends a message to the Vista to tell it it's armed. At that point, the Vista increases power. With that information, you can also see voltage in the Vista/DJI OSD... and if you're on Betaflight for example, you can set up full OSD with that. If you are using the DJI controller, it connects from the Vista to the FC using SBUS. So then you get the controller, talking to the Vista which then talks to the Flight Controller. But if you skip the DJI controller, you just connect a regular FrSky, TBS, FlySky or whatever receiver to the FC on its own and use that to control the quad. The Vista in that case only takes care of video duties.
PinchTune Thank you so much
non hai mai avuto surriscaldamento dell’unita tale da bloccare la trasamissione video? Grazie
No, tutte le mie unità sono state perfettamente affidabili. Nessun surriscaldamento.
@@PinchTune grazie 🙏🏻 per avermi risposto!!
Sweet hat dude🤙 im from the big island haha
Ah nice. Yeah, I lived on Maui for a few years and have friends on the big island. I'm friends with the Double Portion folks in Maui that make these hats.
What camera mounts did you use? Do you have a thingiverse link? I'm doing the same exact thing.
These are slightly longer than the stock Hyperlow camera mounts. They came from an XHover quad. I think it was the Win3L. Unfortunately, there is no Thingiverse file for it that I know of. I will have to come up with a solution soon because I'm building two more of these quads and I'll need camera mounts.
I talked to Richard at Hyperlow. He says he'll likely have an extended mount option in Thingiverse soon.
PinchTune ok cool! I just made one as well-I’ll probably upload it in a few days and edit my comment with a link. Thanks for checking!
What kind of tape you're using, knowing that the VTX gets really hot? Nice video, keep'em coming!
I use the black 3M Extreme VHB double side tape. I've been using this stuff for years and it's perfect for this. I will often use thermal tape for VTX, but because it's not spongy, it wouldn't work well for this. I don't expect heat will be a problem though. I know the tape won't come off.
I've been flying this for month now and I built another one in this same fashion. I haven't had it go into thermal limp-mode yet. I just built another one and I taped it down just like this and I couldn't be happier.
cool video, looking to throw one in my marmotte with the Infinity f4 stack
Definitely works great. Someone here was commenting about not wanting to tape it down... but I just built another one like this and I wouldn't do it any other way.
me cago en la piiiiiiii. me encanta como lo has explicado todo. ahora después de ver tu video lo tengo más claro
Jaja, gracias. Me alegro poder ayudar. Saludos.
Me cawenlaputa!. xDD. Inesperado totalmente.
HAHAHA!
I was in a bad mood when I was filming this video. XD
tape it down? naw, get a new frame.
Haha. Heck no... there are many reasons why this is better. Impact resistance being one. In a crash, a taped down unit will fare better than one that's bolted down due to the give of the tape. Still, it doesn't come up. If you use thermal tape, the heat bleeds into the carbon helping with dissipation. I've been flying this for a long time now and I couldn't be happier. I'm actually building 3 more just like this but with updated motors and on FL1. Not to mention, this frame totally kicks ass.
