    Do you have any recommendations for best anesthesia for endoscopy/colonoscopy? What is least likely to provoke a fight/flight response and which is least likely to have a lingering (half-life) effect the day(s) following the procedure? Propofol is what I’m being told is the best, but the gastro Dr does not know anything about mutations and anesthesia - he said I need to know what I want when I go in to tell the anesthesiologist just prior to procedure.

    Hi Dr Lynch! I have what I think is polymorphic light eruption or sun allergy. I get hives on the tops of my hands, forearms and tops of my feet which last weeks in early spring, summer. We did have a sunny day here in winter and I was sitting out and it happened as well. They appear the next day or hours after I’ve been sitting out in the sun for 30min +. Quercitin helps relieve the itch but I want to get to the route cause of it. Would it be the same approach a histamine intolerance, should I start with gut health, Vitamins.
    I’ve lost all confidence in general practitioners - one tried to tell me it was a sunburn. Even though I tan easy….
    Hope you have some knowledge on the condition. There is hardly anything online..

    Thank you for pointing out the cold water bc I was doing cold shower routines thinking it was beneficial but seems to have tanked the immune system 🥴🤦‍♀️

    • @DrBenLynch
      @DrBenLynch  2 года назад +1

      You're so welcome! Cold is great when you're strong enough. When you're not, it can definitely weaken you.

    • @irmareaves3450
      @irmareaves3450 2 года назад +2

      Anne Marie, cold showers are very beneficial but it is important that you gradually acclimate your body to the cold. Wim Hof, who made this practice of cold water famous, explains how to do this so you don't get sick. He says to start by ending your normal warm shower with only 15 seconds of cold water. Do this for a week and then increase by another 15 seconds for another week. Increase weekly at this rate but don't go over 2 min of cold water .... until you feel stronger. For most people, 1-2 minutes of ending with cold water is all they need to boost their immune system. If you overdo it, you'll get sick. Hope this helps.

    Dr Lynch, not sure you read these comments since this video is older. I have taken your Probiotica Histamine X. Was wondering if you knew what strain of Bifido Longum was in yours? Saw another supplement with Bifido Longum 1714 and it raves how it helps stress (brain gut connection). And was wondering since I cant find anything online what the different strains do differently. Or it is just a marketing thing? thanks in advance, Mark

      hi Mark. I need to reply to comments more than I do. We do know what strains we use as they are strain specific. I don’t have them handy now in front of me. We don’t disclose purposely as people are copying my formulations. It’s been a big problem. So I unfortunately can’t disclose what I use. I formulated Probiota Histaminx to support healthy gut histamine levels. Ive not personally heard people saying it’s helping their stress levels.

      Thanks for the quick reply! I am hopefully that Longum might help, but trusting what you hear is not always smart. I got this info from a very informative podcast, you might find interesting. Although you probably know this stuff. The Genius Life podcast 338 with Kiran Krishnan (chief Microbiologist). About 54 mins in to 1:10mins. But I am not sure if it matters which strain might help. Thanks again! @@DrBenLynch

      It's a great question. I am not sure. Having a methyl group on a compound doesn't mean it will donate it. I am not a chemist so I'm not sure if the methyl groups can fall off.

    Hello Dr Lynch, if you were taking 50,000 to 100,000 IU of Vitamin A, how many IU of Vitamin D3 (K2 with it of course) would you take with it to balance out everything so you don't deplete vitamin A or vitamin D3? Thank you.

    • @DrBenLynch
      @DrBenLynch  11 месяцев назад

      there's no one rule here. what is important is to make sure before you take vitamin A, to have sufficient vitamin D on board. High A amounts in a low D environment can create inflammation. Immune Intensive is a balanced combination of A, D, K, C, zinc and others. and it tastes good. It used to taste awful. Now I like it. The elderberry saved it. www.seekinghealth.com/products/immune-intensive

    Great information. I'm going to look at this supplement. Mega dosing vitamins as a form of "chemoprophylaxis" or immediately upon symptom onset seems to work well for me too. I will say though, my understanding is there is data demonstrating that cold water immersion has actually been shown to generate higher production of immune cells and subsequently less infection than control groups (among many other benefits). I hear this anecdote often though; that soon after being in the cold someone gets sick, possibly suggesting immune suppression. However this is anecdotal and it seems this spring is pretty dense with community spread of URIs independent of cold exposure and resultant immunosuppression. Is there any data indicating a counter argument to cold water immersion being a good way to boost immunity since there is both anecdotal and clinical stiff out there supporting it's benefits too? (I take cold showers daily lol, and feel as though it has indeed dramatically reduced number and severity of infections) I want to keep an open mind since my thinking was that cold immersion = URI, was a myth.

    • @mineralchief
      @mineralchief 2 года назад

      intense cold exposure that is BRIEF (2-3 minutes) is what has been shown to enhance the immune system. Prolonged cold exposure is what suppresses it. Think about it as energy being used at the surface of the body instead of keeping the core temperature warm. (intense brief cold exposure can actually raise core temperature) (good for waking up in the morning) Same thing for exercise.. brief high intensity workout or HIIT is great for the body while prolonged training can suppress the immune system. Depends on context too the one you choose to utilize.. they are all tools that are great to use when the context is right.

      You may need to take copper with your zinc to make sure your zinc/copper ratio is right. Many times if you have a negative reaction to a mineral, it's because you have too much of it or not enough of its opposing mineral. Ratios are very important with minerals. Hope this helps!

      10 minutes is too long, like 2 minutes is ideal. After smashing and crushing garlic it quickly forms a compound known as allicin, if you let it sit too long will start to form less effective sulfur compounds by oxidation from the air.
