The fact that the majority of pugs are so toxic just makes that one-in-a-million positive-vibes group so much better! It’s like the most fun you can have lol, and honestly I feel I tank my best because I’m not stressing over dumb comments. Everyone can be so supportive and that’s perfect for becoming a better player. Your pugs are very lucky to get you 💙🤓
I have my bad days like everyone else but there's no reason to be a boob! I'm trying to be a positive member of the community and there are some good apples out there, just have to find them :)
Honestly I haven't run into many toxic groups at all. Sometimes one player. But generally someone else checks them. Sometimes that someone is me. Sometimes my efforts are ignored. But generally we just forge ahead.
one-in-a-million is dead accurate.
What i learned while pugging as a Tank, stick to your Route no matter where they run, but if you see them run in the wrong direction simple type "Back" or something in the chat.

I'm an asshole, I'll just kill the bears solo while they ask where I am and brick the key just to teach them a lesson
@@Dillisan I also notied at the death 8 min in that you used your Runic Power on a Death Coil instead of the Death Strike. It may not a great position for the Coil, you shouldn't use it often.

Gotta be honest I never blame the tank or healer again they are much harder than dps so if something went wrong it’s whatever

Love the series. I also pugged my way to 2400 as a Blood DK. When in doubt on thundering, AMS will prevent you from getting stunned when it goes off! And Icebound fortitude breaks you out of the stun / reduces the damage coming in from the stun. Don't forget to use your 2 "get out of jail free" cards!
I didn't know AMS/Fort was a thing tbh, thought it was purely unavoidable! I wonder what other classes can negate this...to google!
@@Dillisan As you go through your series, if you see certain spells with effects getting sent out soon, you can AMS before the cast - and if AMS is on, you are no longer rendered a valid target for the spells.
Lightning boss in Nokhud Offensive - when he casts the spell to put a big blue ring on everyone that then explodes for damage.. If you AMS BEFORE he places the blue rings out, you are rendered "not a valid target" and are immune from the spell targeting you!
Looking forward to seeing how you utilize this knowledge in the many other dungeons :)

Fun fact about Halls of Valor, during the last boss in Legion if you died, you got teleported to one of those balconies higher up, and you didn't have to run back, you never technically died, not sure why that's not implemented this time around.
I only did this a couple of times in Legion and I did not know this! That would be awesome here :D
I remember there being a lot of ress points in dungeons & now they seem nonexistent. :')

Misstakes is the best way of learning. You will stop giving a crap about nosey dps after a while too, you are the tank, they are foces to follow your will or GTFO. The more runs you do, you will get more comfortable, trust me :)

So last night I was helping my friend level up their DH and we pugged a healer from Sister of Elune. We RP'd a Halls and it was the chilliest, most enjoyable experience I ever had in a mythic dungeon.

Just some simple tips for playing blood: try to start your first pull with DRW (dancing rune weapon) - you will not only get 5 stacks of boneshield, but also massive amounts of evade - most melee attacks won't hit you in that time.
Next thing - especially in higher keys u want to have a lot of runic power for that big juicy healing - in the video it seemed that u pressed death strike too often with low runic power and no heal needed and in the next few seconds u needed big healing but you was left with too little runic power. Try to stall on some, u also can overcap runic power and just heart strike when u don't need the healing.
Otherwise as you already said, u sit on defensives very long, as blood we have a lot of them, just use them on big packs, we have so many, u can use them nearly every pack.
But otherwise stay strong, u got this! Blood is one of the tanks that makes the most fun in my opinion :)

Your videos have given me a bit of courage to pug mythic +. I want to at least get 2k points for mount but boy it is...challenging. You are brave to tank it and I applaud you. It is interesting because where I sit, I always view the tank as a programmed robot lol I tend to forget they are a person just like me that faces different challenges. This gave me some perspective, I am guilty of getting tunneled vision LOL. Anyways looking forward to future content. Keep em coming

Great videos! Love the commentary. Fun tip for HoV if you didn't know already is after you kill the 2 big guys before the big golden ramp you can grab a beer mug and throw it at one of the mini bosses in the final room to make them fight each other for a little bit for some free damage. It also lets you pull the 1st 2 at the same time for a little bit of saved time.
Thanks Kyle! Yeah the beer thing I have tried but messed up a couple of times, maybe my timing was off I guess? I rushed to the rest of the group in this run purely because they ran off and I didn't wanna waste time running to grab a beer, then potentially failing that anyway. I deffo need some practice in HoV.

I mean, it's a long waste of time for some people who only have enough time to do maybe 2 or 3 a day. Wish it just wasnt so punishing for atleast lower keys

@@wowcnmovie doesn't work. You can just afk a key that is depleted then until the timer is over/log out and wait for someone else to leave.
@@nkxseal8398 This is exactly the issue, the perception of people is that others making mistakes wastes their time. Instead of accepting that everyone makes mistakes and you'll get another shot next key. You don't have to time 20s to enjoy M+ you know. Also, you don't have to time every key. People need to stop comparing themselves to full-time streamers that play the game 24/7 and that are infinitely better than them.
@kahlan1amnell All of that is well and good but the problem is people who aren't good because they were carried running keys they can't do. Do you think spending hours inside of a dungeon is fair because others artificially got their score boosted by better players? The amount of people in 15-20 keys(which are crucial for gear upgrades) they don't even silence/stun mobs is ridiculous and this leads to these dead runs.
The biggest thing I would say for running out during Odin is everyone runs the direction of the add spawn since it needs to be kicked and killed
Yeah you're probably right. In the heat of the battle you don't think about these things. Well, I don't anyway :P

I am a new player, started on Dec and have grinded my ass up to 2280 rating, I did get some help., but not too much tbh, mostly it has been upgrading keys every week like 3 levels per week till i got to 16.
My damage isnt the best, still working on my rotation (devoker), and i just got a guy at the start of the week asking how much i paid for my KSM, or are guild mates just carrying me.
I laughed it off, but kinda sucked that all the grind ive done of around 70 completed runs, people act that way, even when the dude wasnt even that impressive on dps either.
Anyways, love your content, keep it up man! Stories are pretty entertaining!

Death and decay cast on self is amazing. Usually dks don't pre cast it on pack while running. So it saves you valuable time by just key binding and not having to mouse over it.
Yeah I thought about this actually but sometimes I want to place it in a specific spot so I was unsure. I'll look into it, maybe put normal D&D on a separate bind
@@Dillisan I thought the same also, but now ive realized the only good spot to put dnd is on yourself. The time you spend looking for a spot to place dnd can actually get you killed, same with AMZ. good luck
Oof I'm a bit behind with my m+ (only just getting going) but watching these videos makes me excited to get cracking. Did some on my rdruid at the start of the season but then took a couple weeks off and now playing my priest main again. Good luck with the rest of your runs! Might see you in party finder

Anytime a thundering goes off, you can use Ice Bound Fortitude and clear the stun off of yourself.
Or u use AMS before the stun hits u so u wont even get stunned

Deaths advance also keeps you from being knocked back like the storm mini boss in AA can ams and then and not have to move
except he had already popped it.
in halls on your way to hyrjah pull both sides of the hall way, then left hand side while heading towards fenrir portal. then one yak with the 4 pack before fenrir. and 3 dog packs and that will get you to 84.07% halls is my groups first time key when hitting a key wall because our route is just so stream lined. granted we don't look up guides so there is probably a more optimal route.
I modified my route since, got it nailed down now (I hope!) 🙂

as a healer just know that room wit hthe long tables where you died is the absolute hardest place to heal imo, its insane, just really keep them in range and go sloooow is my advice in there
The last pack before heading to Fenryr I have noticed to one shot me from time to time, pretty nasty D:
That cache from TW weekly can drop anything that is on the loottable for normal Vault of the Incarnates and if I'm not mistaken 405 is the actual highest and those are the extra rare items that drop from the last two bosses.

@@Dillisan Same deal with the cache for the 4 mythics weekly only the reward will be from hc raid version.
7:53 think the biggest takeaway from this is never turn your back on the majority of adds, I meen chances are you were going down anyway but you had a bigger chance of not going down if you didn't turn your back on so many of them by running through them.
Yeah I got flustered, they were knocked and I derped. I learn and move on to the next one!
I would inform group before the wolf boss that we going right for bears after fight. Communication is the key. ;)

HoV is my absolute favorite Mythic plus of all time. Back in Legion it was the dungeon I was quarenteed to be accepted for as tank. I didn't know about add ons or anything to help plan routes. So I made the route as I went. Even learning the extra I needed for teeming affix(which added extra mobs to the dungeon, but lowered the amount they counted for)
Also. If you need percent. Just grab those drunken mobs by the door on the left there. They will follow you up the bridge. And fight them with those minibusses.
Sadly I took a break during Legion and came back for the last raid tier. I only did this dungeon a couple of times so it was pretty much new to me going into this season. Deffo not my favourite :P

I only pug keys, i'm a loner, with HoV, i pull everything you would in a 'standard' run but when you get to Fenyar room, i pull 2 of the bulls on the way to her. This will give you 84% when you run up the bridge, and then spot on 100% after the 4 'mini bosses'. I find this the best route for pugs because they are forced kill the mobs and can't afk run away after the boss is dead. Hope this helps someone

Just one Thing to Mention about the %. If you first finish the bosses, and you do a group afterwards, u only have to kill the mobs until your % are Full. So in your case u had only to deal with one of the groups mob instea of the whole pack, what saves some time. Keep it up :)

Just to let you know.... this is the life of a tank lol. The best way to do things is look up PUG runs for count. BTW you can tag mobs at a table and run up to the kings, AOE trash and first king down. Do not ask why I know!!!! LOVE THE VIDEOS!!! Hope that you remember the life of a tank after all the fun you have in pugs lol.
Haha, full of sympathy now lol. I have since adjusted all my runs in MDT and tailored them to ME and how I want to do them. My way or the highway! :P

Am loving watching this, would recommend you getting a Weak aura or addon that tracks peoples interrupts, In higher keys, this will defiently help you out as a tank as your main job will be group coordination! You can be in discord with your group and call out kicks while tanking, as its the least demanding, in terms of in game activity. Great luck with your future ventrues and excited to see it next!

I like the editing of the videos and the commentary is great. Watts your process for making the videos? I guess you play keys and then select the footage? Do you have a script fit when you do your voiceover? I an always intrigued how people match the voice with what’s shown on the video 😊
Super happy to hear you're enjoying! I record pretty much all the footage along with notes throughout, with bullet point notes I record the voiceover (use to do scripts, trying something new). From there I place it all together and BAM, the magic happens :D
at the start pf the video the cache you get from the 5 timewalks holds a normal raid item that can go up to 398. when you get the quest to complete 4 mythic dungeons you get a cache that holds a heroic raid item that can go up to 411.

As someone who pugged my way to ksm this season, you will see these kinds of runs 100s of times more xD, and no the hunter was wrong to criticize you, it was timed!
I'm always open to constructive criticism, if I do something wrong and I'm unaware, being told is super helpful. There's just better ways of going about it...
yup, timed and his DPS was garbage.
Halls of Valor:
Go left, kill the Mobs there on the Table, Kill all mobs on Hyrja, go to fenrir, kill all Mobs on tables (right) - Walk right - Kill Dragon, 2 Yaks, all the wolfs in Fenrirs area (Use Deff-CDS, even after the nerves this things hit like freaking trucks // Stun whatever) - Kill Fenrir - Go Odyn. Kill all Mobs also in the Middle of the hall - BAMM - % done!

@@Dillisan Keep in mind, 84% is needed. The final 4 mobs give together 16%. Don't waste time, if its not needed :>
But also be carefull for extrapulls (3 yaks, eventual reindeers etc.)

hello mate... as a new main tank as well i can tell u that in pugs for the most of the time ppl are just go go go all the time.. something i like to do in halls is make sure i have lead and just put marks when i want ppl to move to or stack and stuff.. and dont do the route when ppl have to use there brain in order to do.. most pugs (in lower keys for the most part) ppl dont know about the higher key tactics .. so better to do just the normal way and not try to do to hard stuff..
anyway.. just found your ch today.. i like the way to do the vids.. cant wait for more

Yeah, tanks and healers get into much higher keys cause of the role they play. My Havoc Demon Hunter which is 407 gets declined for 16's and I have 2200 rating, explain this lol
@@Dillisan lol same, barely get into 18´s as an evoker (dd, 2380. rio). + always the cool kid comments like: "you know the dung right?" "Big pull all okay, just nuke them -Wipe, what was that?" "Oh, evoker do damage?" But the top tier goes to the suspiciously high rated (3300+) "elite dude" who aim for the perfect run and leaves after one wipe shouting "Hobos"
This led me to quiting so quickly. I had bad luck 3 weekends in a row with a mixture of ppl not knowing how to run the dungeon, players leaving, or being stuck for 45m-1hr in 1 dungeon. This literally was all day for 3 weekends. I'm a healer and patient with others, but it's been so tense in DF that after getting KSM, I quit.
It can be rough for sure, sorry to hear about your difficulties. Hopefully you return for Season 2 :
The only way it would go up to 405 is if you get either of the rings, as they are higher iLvl than the rest of the items in the raid. Other than that, you can get an item from one of the 3 tiers of iLvl, since the gear scales.
TL:DR; you won't get 405/408 unless it's rings, you only get normal items from the timewalking event.

My biggest struggle instance is for sure nokhud, I don't consider myself an elitist player, but I'm not casual either. So running Nokhud at +3 through +10 is always painful, as they're usually full of very casual players, I try to not get frustrated due to some things, but I am for sure of the mindset: if you do not intend to learn your class, don't join M+ just to be carried.
Pugging is a pain for me as I always struggle to just bite my tongue, and when people just don't interrupt, or stand in puddles, I don't need genetics to make me go bald, hand fulls of hair do it for me 😂
I feel your pain but just remember we're all human and we all make mistakes. I try my very best to encourage players but I'm not perfect, I have my moments of weakness also! Hopefully you get some better groups and sorry in advanced if you get me as a Tank :P
@@Dillisan oh for sure, I tend to hold a level of reason, once I realize it's a group who simply refuses to take advice, I'll go silent for the sake of convenience =D
Another thing you missed about your death in Nokhud is that you got mortal striked and turned your back to 3 mobs while trying to hit one to your right. Even without mortal strike that's going to kill you pretty much instantly.

@@Dillisan Yeah of course, we all had to start somewhere when learning, and that's not generally something new tanks ever consider, but eventually it becomes a natural thing even when flustered to make sure you don't have mobs behind you, since it just makes everything worse ^^
Also a quick little tip for Odyn in Halls of Valor - the rest of the group ran the other way because it's in the direction of the add that spawns and needs to be killed/kicked, if everyone had ran the same direction as you it would just free cast until it's a wipe. The best way to deal with it is to move Odyn away from it as soon as you see it spawn, because he will pull the group in right after, that way you can ensure that everyone runs in the direction of the add to get out of the AoE, and even get it right on the edge of the AoE in case you have no grips etc in the group (or no ranged kicks even)
@@billymays9296 you also can just kick the add when walking past it out of the aoe, most of the people i played with either range, melee dps or me as the tank did it. Running into the direction of the add, kick it and just pull it with oyu out of the aoe. that developed for me to be the most reliant variation.
@@ayama7108 well yeah, but if Odyn is right on top of it, it will start casting again and you won't be in range. It's always safest to bring him away from the add to ensure 1 kick gets it to a place where it can be killed/kicked again

For me it's all about showing my mistakes otherwise I won't learn from them. I purposely leave bad play in the videos that I don't talk about in the hopes someone picks up on them and for the most part someone does :D.

Blood dk tip. If a pug stuns you with not clearing mark frost bound fortitude will break you out of the stun/prevent it for you

So a good thing to help you with the items in COS is get the WA called Court of Stars Helper. What it does is when you hover over an item in the dungeon it will say in party chat who and what classes can interact with them

I got my score up to 1850 pugging and hit a wall. I’m just tired of having toxic/inexperienced people in my groups. I tank as well which comes the easiest to me.
I was tanking 23’s in legion but I had a group I ran with. I would this xpac but I’m inconsistent with being online because of irl obligations. Mainly raising my 7 yo son which outweighs WoW by miles.
This is precisely why I no longer raid as well. I just cannot be bothered to spend hours progressing.

I love your content, could you please add the item level you were at when you did the M+. It helps people have some idea of what they should be able to accomplish at that level of gear. Obviously, skill is a major part, but please give a general guide for what gearing levels are appropriate for different M+. Thank you.

@@Dillisan I completely missed that, let's just pretend that I didn't say anything 😅 I just started tanking on my prot warrior, and it has been a great experience. Unfortunately, some of the hate sent toward new tanks can be downright toxic. If i don't have the boss or mob positioning down perfectly, or if a kick doesn't go off people are ruthless.
At 6:15 you were activly directing the frontals into your party, that's a big no. If possible, they should go somewhere to the side where no one is standing, and no one should use stuns. They cast the frontal for multiple seconds and deal no damage while channeling it, thats where everyone can chill a bit. If you stun them they attack again.
Yup you are completely correct and I played very poorly.

Its a piece of normal loot gear, so if you have a look at the ilvl that drops from normal raid thats what you will get, this week is herioc same thing applies.

You probably figured it out by now, but you get a charge for the catalyst on every toon, that one charge can be used by all toons at the same time.
Erm, I placed text on the screen admitting my mistake :P. I didn't know at the time and was super confused as I am with most things lol. The community made sure I knew I was wrong and laughed at me haha. Thanks for letting me know though :)

I guess the laddering process is where you learn from mistakes and get better. Every level is another new challenge I just don’t get it why so many players are so toxic judging others in the game.

Honestly I'm sometimes scared to do any keys, even mine with pugs. There is too many toxic ppl and leavers :(
That can certainly be off-putting. They're not all bad though. Me and my partner got into a premade group tonight, we barely timed any of the runs but we stayed for multiple keystones and had a blast. We were invited to their Discord and we had a great night playing with them. Good people are out there, just have to find them :)

I would maybe recomend to switch off of "Blood Tap" did not see you use it in this video. Maybe I'm just blind.. If you get 2Set Bonus you wont need it anyways because you get free runes from it.
For Fortified weeks I like to take "Rune Tap" for that extra 4 sec Devensive when running in to a group.
I use it quite often but there are also a ton of times I forget to use it. I'm bad okay :P
Iam new to tanking and starting a warrior a few weeks ago. Doing 18 keys at ilvl 375 they are so broken. Its nice to play a class that is immune to damage so i have time to learn mechanics in the game. Glad blizz made a noob friendly class so we can do higher keys too.
Prot Warrior is very forgiving and would have been my comfort pick, I'm finding BDK a bigger challenge than my brain can handle lol. Great stuff on the keys, GG's!

To get good you have to make every possible mistake. If there are 99 possible mistakes, you can't be good until you make all 99. If there are 999 possible mistakes, you need to make all 999. So, each time you make a new mistake you should celebrate! One step closer!

@@Dillisan there is a WA that shows percentage for each mob, helps a lot when you have to wing your route. I think quazi posted it in its channel a few weeks ago

That would be "Opie". It's great for decluttering your action bars and you can choose to have everything on one wheel or create multiple for specific things. Highly recommend :)
As a healer only player, pugs have always been toxic. Im now one of those players who checks gear and acheivements because im really not out here to waste my free time babysitting people. I have a favoritism towards tanks and healers because not everyone can be them, but anyone with hands can be a dps.
Healers share similarities to the Tank role because you are responsible for keeping everyone alive. A wipe is generally blamed on either the Tank or the Healer. DPS standing in stuff and died, healers fault for now healing them through it. I know the feels...I'm praying for a DPS for season 2 lol
Pugs this week has been horrible. As a dps player, I miss being the problem. This week had multiple runs where tank overpulls or chainpulls too fast, bursting+explosive destroyed hp bars, and the healer flips out. Too many tanks and healers just leaving keys this week
Yeah, not gonna be a great week but we power through! I wish you all the luck dealing with explosives by yourself :P
Did +23 pug sbg today and we had dps that was moaning about orbs that it lowers his dps because he have to cotribute to help destroying them as boomkin. He got inhaled by 3rd boss, didn't stand at melee so the pool went to middle of platform so we had to run there at inhale. And bonus in the cake he died at last boss to aoe attack and cried it was garbage run. I mean we talking guy with 3k rio and the attitude is so toxic. Running also pugs only.. Everyone fails and that's fine but what is not fine is the toxic mentality of some people.
Yeah it happens, we all have bad days. Met some really toxic players but I have always met some really nice players also. Groups are hit and miss!

Hearing you say that the Catalyst isn't shared,
The Catalyst is Shared. You can even do the world boss on 5 characters every week to complete the quest. Something I found on my alt is that the charges are bugged and will only show 1 Charge even though you have 3. (this week that is) So if you wanted to you can easly Catalyst 10 characters a week provided you had the items.
Look at the video when I say it's shared, I place text on screen correcting my derp. This was all pre-recorded and I was super confused about how it all worked. My brain doesn't work sometimes :D
Btw stay in your dnd, that gives you haste and cleave on heart strike man. It's the good stuff.
