Manor Lords is absolutely a game I'd love to see, I'll definitely get my copy of it, been waiting for it about 3 years and it's sooo close now it doesn't seem real lol
As your raft gets bigger and bigger, turning with just the rudder won't be really possible so the best idea I've seen and implemented myself is building 4 sails on all 4 directions around you and you can navigate really easily on all directions this way, even diagonally when you have 2 sails lowered.

I believe you need the things you get from the bosses, for the plane. + food and water. Some of the bosses can be hard to spot from a distance. The easiest way to find them is using the cartographer as a guide. And to use the compass. Search in the open waters between islands. Have a good journey :)

you can break down your crates and get planks and rope, so take them back with you

Not sure if someone has already said, but the yellow bars on the side of the boats, if you hold your jump in ot should pull you up* (same for the raft)

Do you know you can hit the crates with an ax and get 2 planks and a rope from them

I have nicknaked them "Dork Fish".. I think they kinda looks dorky with that big overbite
