For those who don't know, a dogie is a calf that's been separated by its mother.
Thank you, didn't know that!

Goodbye ol friend, God bless
This is a good song to teach the kids so when you are on a long car trip and all singing songs of yore, this can be one!
Roy Rogers such great classic stuff. 💖
Roy's voice is just...wonderful!
Beautiful music! They don’t make them like they use to ! Im 38 from Cali and from the hood !
Learned this song in elementary choir in first grade, just remembered this random tune and lyric after 13 years, what a memory
@codyfrisch4378 I agree…that’s the greatness of God and private school brother
I haven't heard it since 1963 or '64. We sang it in kindergarten and when I was a kid I remembered the words. I forgot them years ago and just now looked it up to see if I remembered anything. Except for the chorus, I don't. But...it's still fun to hear the old folk songs.
I remember them perfectly from childhood : "Git along little doggie, get along . . .
git along little dawgie, get along . . . git along little doggie, get along little dawgie . . .
. . . git along little daaaaawgieeeee get along ! "
As i recall, after that it begins to get a bit repetitive. B-)
I adore this song , from Iraq 🇮🇶❤️❤️❤️❤️

@@janeclayton2002 Gosh dang it! I have it in my head again. Thanks Jane lol!
First heard this on Dr. Quinn series. They were driving cattle. Lauren (Orsen Bean) actor was singing it. RIP Orsen Bean. He didn't deserved to die two years ago. 92 years and still had more. He was hit by a car. 🙏🏼
Only me that needed to listen to this song after watching public enemies ? xD
Best movie ever !
love these old songs
I used to have a dauchund and my step mom would say "get a long little doggie" always cracked me up
I love that joke. The cowboy adopted a dachshund, because he wanted a long little doggie
His movies sre so much fun even now😅
Dillinger singing this in the getaway car, classic.
Loved everybody! Roy Rogers and the Sons of the Pioneers are wonderful, at their best.
The Program brought me to this song... Great song!
The best song ever, I'm not drunk. I will play this at my wedding and funeral. I'm learning to sing this song and hopefully I can re-record this on disc. I believe it will go gold. Really I'm serious.
I'm not drunk, either! What a coincidence!
That's a great song. I discovered it in french cowboy comic book "Lucky Luke", you should read it!
I am drunk not also! ;)
Let us know when you release it :)
Mitch? Mitch Miller? That you?
OMG, It took a moment or two to recognize Roy--he's so young. I miss Roy, Gene and Hoppy
Hell or High Water!
Yes
Hell or High Water brought me here. Great movie, cool song.
Gaby: "Roy, dem durn banditsdone made off with 25 head of our prime cattle-whate'r we gonna do about it?"
Roy:"We're gonna head 'em off at the pass, but first I have to sing a campfire song...."
love roy good singer
we used to sing this in 6th grade chorus...on Long Island, NY!
Roy....my hero
Whoopee ti-yi-yo, OOPS Magellan.
Your fun little journey's become a nightmare
The Animaniacs used this melody for the Ballad of Magellan!
You'll find the East Indies, you just don't know where!
love you dad crying
I used to sing this song back in third and fourth grade and music clas It was one of my favorite ones to sing. If only if I knew then that I would go from living in texas to wyoming , it would make the song all the more poetic
I played this at my funeral.
Wow really
Your dead?
Same actually
Bill Baehr I'm so sorry
Bill Baehr wait
Today's NYT Crossword (and Rex Parker) brought me here. Glad to have discovered this song :)
Die Hard, watching it for the millionth time in January 2018, brought me here. I'm overwhelmed about learning John McClane miss quoted the song line.
McClane was quoting “I’m an Old Cowhand”
Love this stuff
We have a long axled Peterbilt with a 53 ft trailer. This song is always cued up for long span bridges due to a galloping bounce of the truck. Sacramento bridge between Vacaville and Sac and the long spans of Louisiana and coastal Florida are a regular event.
I love this wonderful film version of the classic cowboy tune!
My dad was singing this to our little doggie
love it
Why did the cowboy adopt a Dachshund? He wanted to get a long little doggie!
He should've gotten a Coney Island hotdog.
I Am a Cowboy and have never had a wiener dog, Blue Heelers, Australian Shepherds, Catahoulas, Border Collies, German Shepherds, Huskies, mutts and a Staffordshire Terrier- a smaller breed of English Pit Bull rescued from the Street. But NEVER a Dachshund. HOWEVER Sam, I'm going to be borrowing your line as I give address to various Cattlemen's Associations and Governmental Meetings from Africa to Wyoming. Thanks!
jerma
That joke brought me here plus hadn’t heard the song in years. YIPPIE TAI AI Ohhh!!!
This had me laughing! Love that joke so much!!!! It is so clever!
It's an honest-to-goodness cowboy song from the old west.
Love classics
*get a dog, little longie*
Great song, done superbly by the great Roy Rogers. Also sung beautifully on RUclips
by Suzy Bogguss.
Awesome song and wonderful voices aswell
I wrote this song on the Texas trail in 1896
Lovely song
As I was out walkin', one mornin' for pleasure
I spied a cow-puncher, ridin' alone
His hat was thrown back and his spurs were a-jinglin'
And as he approached, he was singin' this song
Whoopie-ti-yi-yo, get along, you little dogies
It's your misfortune and none of my own
Whoopie-ti-yi-yo, get along, you little dogies
You know that Wyomin' will be your new home
It's early in the Spring, when we round up the dogies
We mark 'em, and brand 'em, and bob off their tails
Round up the horses, load up the chuckwagon
Then, throw the dogies out on the long trail
Whoopie-ti-yi-yo, get along, you little dogies
It's your misfortune and none of my own
Whoopie-ti-yi-yo, get along, you little dogies
You know that Wyomin' will be your new home
Your mother was raised a-way down in Texas
Where the Gypsum weed and the Sandburs grow
We'll fill you up on Prickly-Pear Choya
'Til you are ready for Idaho
Whoopie-ti-yi-yo, get along, you little dogies
It's your misfortune and none of my own
Whoopie-ti-yi-yo, get along, you little dogies
You know that Wyomin' will be your new home
love this song
I have a cassette with this song. Good song.

One of my favorite songs, and an excellent version. Judy Coder's recording of this song is my favorite.

That's crazy. 1940 was 14 years ago. I will myself old
just heard it last night on Midnight Cowboy
Love this, this song was in my sons second grade history book learning about cowboys. It’s nice I can show him this video instead of my awful voice 😛
i dare you to sing this without smiling
Yakko Warner: There once was a man his name was Magellan
Johnny depp singing this masterpiece😢
Midnight Cowboy bought me here. Always wondered what John Voit was singing.
muppetrolf same here - he sang it slower though but it sounded cool.

John Dillinger brought me here ;)

same
hhhh lol me too , i watch that film 6 times
The song he sings is "the last round up"
The idea of Bad Guy Joe Sawyer singing brought me here.
This reminds me of Yosemite Sam singing his version that went:
"I can't get a long little doggy
I can't even get one that's small
No, I can't get a long little doggy
I can't get a doggy at all"
😂
I used to have a long-haired Dashund. I used to make a joke, "they told me to get a long little doggie, so I did."
11-11-2022 - - - Haven't heard this song since the late 1940s. Roy had a dog named Bullet. I named my dog Bullet. He lived 11 years and was killed by a garbage truck. He loved chasing and barking at garbage trucks. That was 60 years ago. I haven't had another dog since. I like cats now. They don't chase trucks. 🐈⬛
love it thank
Smilin' time.
Farewell, Magellan.
You almost made it its really not fair
Lords of the plains. That's me.

2021 gang

WHOOPI COW YO YA YO GIT ALONG LITTLE DOGEYS 🎶

crying
Hey Arnold brought me here! 🥰😂
1:30 Well I'll be damned, I had no idea Tim Curry was in this movie!
This is how this Western song should be sung.....I am pretty sure that the Sons of the Pioneers are singing the background and the actors shown are just dubbing the words.
Don't know about all of them, it's kind of hard to see their features clearly, but there's a couple of the Sons in there. And they were all in the subsequent movies according to their press at the time. There's probably a website on them and perhaps a whole bunch of RUclipss.
The reply above should have been here. I need to get a new mouse or new eyes.
Wm. A. Bill Fisher they’re all in there.
my dreams brought me here
John Dillinger Get along
Nice.
We all need to just get along
- P. Tait
GOOD SONG😊😊
2019 checking in
The Program movie brought me here.
Ik zing dit lied helemaal mee
That's where I know it from. Yosemite Sam hummed the same tune in the last Looney Tunes Show episode so I had to google it to find out if that was a homage to the Animaniacs or something older. Turns out it was the latter.
Some people still don't know that the king of the cowboys, Roy Rogers, was from Chillicothe, Ohio. He had the best of all thing cowboy, the best horse, Trigger !! Most people don't know that Trigger was in a movie with Errol Flynn & Olivia de Havilland before ever got his first. WHen Errol Flynn & Olivia de Havilland starred as Robin Hood & Maid Marion, Trigger was de Havilland's mount throughout the movie!!
Whoopee ti yi yo, git along little dogies
It's your misfortune and none of my own
Whoopie ti yi yo, git along little dogies
You know that Wyoming will be your new home
The ballad of Magellan
Whoopee ti yo keep trying magellan
