    Thanks for doing this vid. I've checked mine a couple of times since 2017 and they looked the same as yours and mine has 450 hrs almost 100% salt too. What I'm really shocked to see is how much different my 2017 F150 is built from your 200HP. Really would have thought they would be more similar. My anodes (3) can be seen and removed by just taking rear cover off.

    Great job again captain. It’s nice that you take care of your boat and not have to go back in forth to the shop. Thank you for posting the videos so people can see how easy it is to do repairs on there own boat. It was nice that you took off the extra cover to see the belt as well. Bullseye! Perfect video, well edited and explains the anode change Really well. I have the shop manual for reference.
    FYI for those who are curious about some info out of the manual.
    Manual recommends:
    -Change every 500 hours (5 years)
    -Work to be carried out by the Yamaha dealer (wink wink)
    -Apply Waterproof Marine Grease or Yamalube Marine Grease to the grommets
    -Apply Threebond 1322 to the M6 X 20 mm bolt that holds the anode on the engine block
    -Apply Threebond 1303 to the M6 x 20 mm bolt that hold the anode on the exhaust cover
    -The gasket on the M6 x 20 mm bolt that holds the anode is not reusable.
    -Don't apply grease, oil or paint to the anode
    Manual does Not give torque spec for the bolts on the anode or the anode cover bolts.
    Again, Thank you very much for taking the time to make the video.

    Captain, in addition to changing out the 3 larger anodes on the engine block that you have shown, there are 4 other anodes that also need to be inspected and/or replaced. There is part # 68T-11325-00 anode that is installed in the thermostat housing (off to the side) and another one just below the tstat housing. These are fairly easy to gain access to. There is also part # 6E5-11325-00 anode that is installed on part # 6DA-15414-00-9S and 6DA-15411-00-9S cover plates. These are a little harder to gain access to and if removed you will also need to replace the gasket for these cover plates since you will most likely destroy them upon removal.

    This might be a silly question but what was that that you replaced Cap...and what's there function

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  2 года назад +1

      Those are called Is sacrificial sinks what they do is they wear out before the engine wears out is the electrical pulse that destroys the engine housing and metals so this protects it by being softer metals It wears out 1st🛥⚓👍

    The reason why your anodes dont look bad is because they arent supposed to be replaced at 200 hours. 200 hours is nothing. Also, that isnt a crankcase cover, that is the valvecover that you removed. And the timing belt is not supposed to be replaced until 1000 hours. No harm in doing it early but just a waste of money in my opinion. I'm a mechanic by trade and boat engines are no different than car engines.

      @@OutOnTheReef check out the Yamaha website for their exploded diagrams. There are two I am aware of ... One is on port side near top of engine and other facing forward very top port side. There are also a couple more deep internal ones that I'm not ever going to reach myself! :-)... I am replacing with aluminum which don't go white (when white they are electrically isolated and no longer working).
