Hi Capt... Nice quick explanation! Yes, agree on how important these anodes are. (sometimes us oldies call them 'zincs', because they used to me made primarily with zinc; now I think they are an aluminum/zinc hybrid/alloy?). I also just ordered the engines 'internal' anodes; in the 300 Yamaha there are eight (yes EIGHT!) of the 'internal' engine anodes, and I've just found out that there are 3 more other than those eight. I think Yamaha is making sure their engines don't corrode and self-destruct like some of the older Yamaha's did! ☺
Yes Andrew Dost internal anodes in my engine I will change him after 200 hours because they don't wear as much as the exterior ones and yes this about eight of them and that will be a job to do it's just time consuming but that one is just as important but I believe it doesn't wear up as much as the exterior one and thanks for your comment Captain have a awesome Sunday
Another good vid. Thank you. Managed to break 2 bolt heads. Now ready to bolt back the transom anode BUT wondering if I can/should replace the bolts w/ SS studs and nuts? 2:50
Thank you cap and as far as the bolts go i would use what Yamaha recommends And use some anti siege on the boat That will help you take him out on the next time captain thanks for watching
Awesome it looks like they hide it down there so that way it doesn't look that bad when you look at the outboard but that's a very important one to change I'm glad to help you Captain
Well Capt. Another good tip and money saver to do it yourself. I'm looking forward to seeing your new video on changing the impeller. I will have the same engine you have on my next boat so your how to videos will be a big help.
Also on your live feed I asked about one day maybe we could meet and follow you over to the Bahamas. I didn't want to go as a group setting. Just having a buddy boat for our first crossing. We will register as our own crossing for customs.

It's a softer metal so it helps on corrosion on the engine is very important for your engine to last longer , that's why it's called a sacrificial sink the sacrifice itself for the motor
