    This is the serve I have been asked about more than any other. Since many have asked for a tutorial and I have found this serve extremely useful over the years, I pass it on to you... and hope you'll take it to the next level.

      you have to discover it yourself as you play with pingpong. We play horse pong a long haha. Meaning. we make different weird type of spins that we can come up with and realizes there's an actual name for it.
      The trick to oppose this is to immediately top spit as it bounces about

      There was an ex-champion from China that coached my high school team some 25 years ago, that taught this serve. I was not on the team, so I never got hands-on instruction. I just stood by them and observed while they trained.
      I never understood it... After 25 years, I finally know the secret. Ah!

    @Adam bobrow Thank you man, you're the best! Thanks for such a great explanation. I fool my adversaries with a serve that looks like a shovel (back spin) but I change the angle at the contact, which makes it side-topspin serve and change back the angle of my hand to under spin so quick after contact, most off ppl think is chop serve. But your serve is much better I believe. I promise I will practice to master this amazing serve. 👏 Muchas Gracias!

    Thanks for that tip. I'm training the serve now and hope to have it somewhat ready once the team-practice starts again. At my level even if the movement not that fluent it could make me some points as its the deceptive opposite to my regular backspin serves.

      @@vvvvvvv404 sadly it didn't fool anyone, might be because it is also very short and slow. nowhere close to what Adam does. maybe because i play non catapulty harder rubbers as more of a block player. but it was fun to try.

    I've been playing table tennis for 6 years, never knew that just from tossing the ball, it takes topspin at contacting the bat angled at 45 degrees... I'm betting that 90% of players don't know this tip!

      From a physics standpoint, moving the racket upwards to do topspin or letting the ball fall down on the rubber is the same direction, if you think about it.

    whoaaa this is the first time seeing people explaining this serve!!! I've been doing this type of serve since 25 years ago (different form of course) and still didn't know how I did it! :P and I still not dare to do it in a formal game because my success rate is still at 80% hahaha.     I've been serving like this for years, but with my backhand instead for fore. Same result, completely confused opponent. Never knew anybody else had a serve like this!

    Thank you so much Adam! My brother and I are seriously trying to figure out how to do this serve... I will practice serving a snake serve, and miss or miss hit the ball, to where I am like, "What happened?!? Also, about your merch... if I buy something, will it get shipped here?     I always made this serve (wanted to make a underspin serve) without knowing why the receiver always return the ball so high🤣 and know I finally know why it is a top spin and I’ll master it XD

    Thank you for this explanation. After misreading one opponents serve a number of times, I copied him and I learned this as a backhand service, but had never seen it done on forehand, and didn't think it could be done... Until now.
