I gave my friend some bad advice on how to paint her bathroom vanity, so I'm going to paint it for her. I'm using the Behr Urethane Alkyd Enamel paint to show you how you can paint your own bathroom vanity or kitchen cabinets.

I would love it if you made a series teaching how to use a sprayer. I have one but have not worked up the nerve to use it yet.
Its wholesome to see that you‘re there for your friends when they need help. ❤
Thank you for showing us how you fix your mistakes. I'm dealing with some, and it's heartbreaking at this point. This gives me hope.
Agree, we learn so much watching errors and how to fix.
As a painting contractor that does cabinets we use Insl-x Stix primer. The best bonding primer on the market.
Thanks for sharing!
I HOPE YOUR FRIEND WAS EXTREMELY APPRECIATIVE OF DOING ALL THAT WORK ON HER SMALL CABINET!!!😢
LOVE that paint! The cure time is long, though. You made her bathroom look so good!
On the road from FL to MI. You are my go to for painting rehabs and new ideas. Thinking about painting cabinets and looking fwd to your upcoming video.
I know this is not very common but when I use that primer, I still wear a respirator. The time I didn’t a got a severe rash around my nose and mouth and my arms above where my gloves were.
Good to know. The one I use is low VOC.
Please show us more projects with that paint. Loved your results
Will do. Thanks!
This is timely!! I'm seriously considering painting my kitchen cabinets sometime this year and need to do lots of research on the products needed. I will have to spray them for sure. I've used wise owl paint on furniture in my dining room and have been wondering if I should use that for my kitchen or if I should use something like this... I used zinsser primer on a nightstand with an enamel based paint on top (Sherwin Williams brand) and it did not adhere well. I heard later that zinsser primer and enamel paints don't mix well??? Am I wrong on that? 😬😬😬
You are such a good friend! Great call with the Cracked Pepper and extra knobs on the faux drawers. This little bathroom pops now. Great job, Christina.
Thanks!
I have some mistakes in my bathroom as well. Thanks for showing how to fix them. I would love to see you use that paint again!
Wow that was alot of work......Great job Christina!!!!!!
Turned out beautiful and your awesome helping your friend!
Great job on the cabinet and the wall. Can't tell at all that you had to redo the wall. You are such a great friend.
Everyone needs a friend like you!! That space looks beautiful! I’ve been really curious about that paint! Thank you so much for reviewing it for us and yes, please show us how it sprays!
You are so welcome!
I used Beyond Paint on my bathroom vanity. One side was especially water damaged so I sanded and primed it. I waited over a week before I painted. I learned not to ever use primer with Beyond Paint!! The paint just sort of slid around. I eventually made it work and it’s been about 6 weeks. We’ll see how it does in the long run!
The only primer i've ever used with Beyond Paint is BIN Shellac to block bleed through. And it worked well over that. Typically I don't use primer with it and have good results.
That’s right. I always wipe good with mineral spirits to remove wax. I will also scuff sand and finally paint. I’m going to try that behr paint, thanks for that
So good. I love all the helpful, real life details and info you always include in your project videos. A lot of RUclipsrs don’t, but I don’t subscribe to/watch them either, as a result. Why burn time on them when YOU exist? 😁
Beautiful transformation
Thank you! 🤗
What a great transformation! This will be a huge upgrade for the seller for sure! Great job!
Thanks, friend. ❤️
Wow this looks amazing! And yes please do spray it for us so we can see how to do it! Thanks!
Will do!!
Getting ready to paint bathroom cabinets and this gave me info I needed. Thank you
Looks great! Yes I'd like to see you use this paint with a sprayer!
😊
Thank you for being so detailed in your instructional videos! It helps a gal like me a lot!
Awesome. Always what I'm going for.
What a nice improvement!!!
Awesome as usual. Doing kitchen cabinets so my husband will get the paint sprayer as he’s wanted to purchase. He just might need to rejuvenate our interior doors.😊
Sounds great!
You are a great friend to fix this disaster!
Loved the vanity redo.
Thanks!
Beautiful Work
That turned out beautifully!!!❤❤
Turned out so beautiful!!
so helpful. someday (not soon) we will redo the cabinets in our kitchen. watching this really makes me feel confident that we can do it.
Glad it was helpful!
Wheb those top panels were off, it would have been a perfect time to hinge them to make wedge shaped pop out "drawers". Added those to our vanity and it makes a great place to store smalls (fingernail clippers, combs, qtips, etc)
Nice work on the refinishing job!! I have had great results paining directly over stained wood finishes using Rustoleum Automotive Primer and then a top coat of Rustoleum spray paint, provided you can find a color you like. I assume any spray paint top coat would work fine. Didn't even have to sand the surface before the primer. I have not tried this mix over previously painted finishes but I assume it would work well. The automotive primer has a great finish to which the top coat can adhere. I've done this over stained oak.
Good to know.
@@ChristinaMuscari of course with spray painting there was a lot of masking required!
Would love to see more projects with this paint. The price point is appealing…and I will be updating my bathroom cabinets in the near future.
That looks so nice!
The wax is the problem...not the primer. Cracked Pepper is so pretty. Love it.
Yep. We could have save a lot of time on this one if we would have just removed the wax. We actually used the same primer she did just in gray once we got everything off.
Oh no, Christina! HELP!
BTW: It is so cool that you are sharing this fail, and recovery!
I’ve got one fail of my own. Love your advice on this one, as you are also a dog lover, no?
Got the perfect dresser - I even have the plan for the flip! Removed the hardware, started cleaning. Too late! Oh no! After being “bitten” twice I discovered this “perfect piece” had fleas! Luckily, I had collected only the drawers. While I am bombing the space/drawers, there is NO WAY to preserve the piece, right? by: 1) bombing the actual piece; but, 2) how can I be sure it’s clean and clear thereafter.
I’m thinking get ride of the drawers! Have the dresser tossed. Cut my losses. Don’t look back, right?
Any thoughts?!
Thanks, Neophyte Flipper
Thank you so much for sharing this with us, it looks fantastic now. I live in an older home and I don’t understand why people are trying to avoid brushstrokes. Paint rollers weren’t invented until 1940-ish so if you’re trying to have your work look authentic in an older home it’s necessary to use a brush. I guess it’s a modern look that people are going for when spraying is desired?
I've used wire brushes from Dollar Tree to get into the corners good before and it worked great! ❤😊
Awesome tip!
I thought you were going to say the paint underneath was oil. You are a good friend.😍 Nice laptop!
😁 She is a teacher, so she deserves it!
It looks so good…love that color! I’ve been using Valspar furniture paint but it’s almost $30 a quart so I may give the Behr a try. 🥰🥰
I liked it. I'm intrigued to see how it holds up.
I use Behr paint so would love to see you use it in your sprayer ❤🇨🇦
Isnt it crazy how one of those simple knowlegde things you forget about can take you down, hard work, but it was fixable
Cracked pepper is a beautiful color❤
I agree. Such a pretty black.
Nice!
That turned out so very nice!
Thank you! 😊
Your friend won’t want to sell her house now! It’s a beautiful makeover!
Would love to see this paint used with a sprayer!
😊
What an amazing friend 😊 It turned out so elegant. Yes, please. I would love to see this paint with a sprayer. I want to paint my kitchen cabinets. Do you think this is a good paint to use? And should I seal the cabinets when done. If so, what would you recommend for primer, paint and sealer. Thank you🥰
Thank you so much for this! I am tossing every last bit of chalk paint and will never use it again. I love Benjamin Moore’s Advance paint for cabinetry. The application is so much easier and no top coat is needed. I had a pro paint my kitchen cabinets with chalk paint and even with gentle use they were chipping in six months. I hired another professional to undo the chalk paint and apply the Advance. The difference is night and day! Two years later they still look new! Please, if you like enamel paint, do more videos featuring it on your furniture.

Wow, that really looks good! I wanted to paint my kitchen cabinets which have never been painted or anything except the front of one drawer that at first I was going to stain them and had started on it but the stain was so light I never did anything else yet. Do I need to do anything before painting and what of the small section I tried to stain.?
You should be able to paint right over the stain. Just clean them and scuff sand before painting.
@@ChristinaMuscari, thank you! I thought that was right but wasn't sure after watching your video. Guess ill attempt it, lol love watching your videos, you are such an inspiration to me!
That always happens when I paint my walls,, even if I take my time prepping the wall, it always peels very easily 😢 just so demotivating
Can you please tell me the name of the handgrip paint brush you use
I'm in Aus
Thankyou
Luv watching your vids have helped me so much ❤
Check description. It's a Zibra brush.
I saw your steam cleaner! I have been trying to research this too. A deep clean before putting the house on the market. Real worthwhile tool or just the next item to buy and sell?
It was a game changer for the grout and oven for me.
@@ChristinaMuscarithank you. I appreciate your reply. Very helpful.
What is very low scent stripper that works really well? Thx. 😊
I really like this one. Blue Bear Soy or Blue Bear Pro.
@ChristinaMuscari , Thx so Much!
Would Beyond Paint be an acceptable paint for bathroom cabinets?
Absolutely, I was just interested in trying this paint out for you and this color!
Has anyone in the comments ever used the RYOBI mouse sander Christina is using in this vid? If so, any input on that? I'm thinking about picking one up. Thanks!
It's my go to sander when I'm not using my Surf Prep or Festool.
@@ChristinaMuscari Thank you! 🙏🏻 Needing something for small projects. I have no space to work except in the limited outdoor space behind my 2 room apartment. I need to think small, easy to store, versatile & and handy.
How did you know it was wax?
We texted the person who originally painted it.
Could you please do mine next
😊
